        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

        Acute torsion of the ovary and ovarian mass is a recognized surgical emergency, but rarely has the diagnosis been made preoperatively on the basis of imaging studies. The sonographic findings in 14 cases of surgically proven torsion of the ovary and ovarian mass are described. Mostly cystic ovarian mass, engorged vessel, dilated uterine tube, beak-like echo(torsion site), smooth mass wall thickening an free-fluid collection in cul-de-sac are described. More significant in terms of specificity were the demonstration in 6 cases(42.9%) of the smooth mass wall thickening and in 8 cases(57.1%) of a free fluid in the cul-de-sac. We report the sonographic findings of ovary and ovarian mass torsion that may suggest the preoperative diagnosis of this condition.

        Radiofrequency ablation(RFA), as a form of minimally invasive therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma, has become an important treatment modality. Because of limitation of surgery, RFA has become standard therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma in some situations. But there are some complications of RFA such as bleeding, infection, hematoma, adjacent organ thermal damage including intestinal perforation, needle track seeding, and so on. There are few reports in the literature that systematically evaluate the incidence of needle tract seeding and its associated risk factors. And only 2 cases of needle tract seeding of hepatocellular carcinoma after RFA were reported in Korea. We report a case of needle tract seeding of hepatocellular carcinoma after RFA.

        지하공동구 화재 실험 및 시뮬레이션에 의한 화재 실험 예측 평가

        지하공동구는 최근 통신의 발달로 인해 국가 중추기능으로서의 주요 역할를 하는 시설로, 사고시 신속한 대처가 힘들고 케이블 연소시 발생하는 유독가스에 의한 검은 연기로 공동구 내에 진입하여 소화하기가 힘들다. 따라서 화재발생시 막대한 재산피해 및 통신의 두절 등 국가의 중추신경이 마비됨은 물론 시민 불편사항을 초래시켰다. 본 논문은 지금까지 발생되어온 공동구 화재를 바탕으로 실제 공동구 모형을 제작하여 화재를 재현함으로서, 과학적으로 화재의 성상을 분석하고 지하공동구 내에 소방설비를 갖춘 후에 일정온도에서 각각의 소방설비들이 제대로 작동하는지를 검증하는데 그 목적이 있다. 화재실험은 지하공동구 내에 정온식 감지선형 감지기, 방화문, 연결살수설비 및 환기설비를 설치하고 송 · 배전케이블은 일정구간 내화도료로 도장하며 난방관은 내화피복된 상태에서 실험하였다. 그 결과 최고 온도가 932℃로 측정되었고 일정온도에서 정온식 감지선형 감지기가 작동하여 화재위치를 정확히 수신반에 나타내었다. 그리고 송 · 배선케이블은 일정구간 내화도료로 도장한 것은 내화성능이 없는 것으로 나타났고, 내화피복된 난방관은 약 30분 정도의 내화 성능이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 컴퓨터 화재 시뮬레이션은 실제 화재 시험시의화재하중을 입력하여 실시한 결과 최고 온도가 943℃로 실제 화재시의 최고 온도인 932℃와 거의 일치하였다. 따라서 공동구 화재하중만으로 화재 시뮬레이션을 실시하여 화재의 성상에 대한 예측이 가능한 것으로 판단되며 시뮬레이션으로 얻는 열방출량, 연기층의 높이, 산소, 일산화탄소, 이산화탄소의 농도 등의 결과 값들을 실제 화재 실험시의 값으로 적용시킬 수 있는 것으로 판단된다. The utility tunnels are the important facility as a mainstay of country because of the latest communication developments. However, the utilities tunnel is difficult to deal with in case of a fire accident. When a cable burns, the black smoke containing poisonous gas will be produced. This black smoke goes into the tunnel, and makes it difficult to extinguish the fire, Therefore, when there was fire in the utility tunnel, the central nerves of the country had been paralyzed, such as property damage, communication interruption, in addition to inconvenience for people. This paper is based on the fire occurred in the utilities tunnel in the past, and reenacting the fire by making the real utilities tunnel model. The aim of this paper is the scientific analysis of the character image of the fire, and the verification of each fire protection system whether it works well after process of setting up a fire protection system in the utilities tunnel at a constant temperature. The fire experiment was equipped with the linear heat detector, the linear heat detector, the fire door, the connection water spray system and the ventilation system in the utilities tunnel. Fixed portion of an electric power supply cable was coated with a fire retardant coating, and a heating tube was covered with a fireproof. The result showed that the highest temperature was 932℃ and the liner heat detector was working at the constant temperature, and it pointed at the place of the fire on the receiving board, and Fixed portion of the electric power supply cable coated with the fire retardant coating did not work as the fireproof. The heating tube was covered with the fireproof had the function of the fireproof about 30 minutes.

        316L 및 316LN 오스테나이트 스테인리스강에 형성된 부동태피막의 반도체적 특성에 미치는 질소의 영향

        Alloying element, Nitrogen is known to improve the resistance to pitting corrosing of stainless steels increasing the local pH within the active sites and enhancing repassivation of pits. However chloride ion is believed to promote the localized dissolution, due to the absorption of chloride ions on the passive film. Alloying element Nitrogen and chloride ion may also have influence on the electronic properties of passive films, causing the change of the resistance to the localized corrosion. The electronic properties of passive films formed on austenitic stainless steels, such as 316L and 316LN with different Nitrogen content were investigated in neutral 0.1N Na_2So_4 and 0.N NaCl solutions. In-situ capacitance measurements were performed to obtain the information on the donor concentration and the thickness of space charge region within the passive film. Besides, potentiostatic polarization tests were carried out, to investigate the metastable pitting susceptibility. Results showed that alloying element Nitrogen increased the thickness of space charge layer while chloride ions increased the donor density and the metastable pitting susceptibility. Analyses of AES and AFM indicated that Nitrogen led to the increase in Cr peak within the film and the smoothness on the surface of film. The relationship between semiconducting properties of the passive film and the metastable pitting susceptibility was examined.

      • 蛋白質資源의 開發 (Ⅲ) 닭에 있어서의 無機硫黃의 利用에 關한 硏究 : A Study on the Utilization of inorganic sulfur in Chiks

        A Study on the utilization of inorganic sulfur in chiks was carried out with labeled sulfate-sulfur fed to rive-day old chike and radioactivity was counted for various tissues and organs of chits after one to four weeks of treatment. Tendomucoid prepared from troche and collagen made from etophagus and tendon emitted the beta-ray with a considerable variation between tissues and between treatment throughout the investigation indicating that these tissues incorpolated labeled sulfate into containing compounds. A similar observation was made on the elastin prepared from wing and leg skin suggesting a probable conversion of sulfate-sulfur to organic sulfur such as cystine and methionine. The rape was detected from the feather of both wing and tail from the first week throughout the four week of the experiment. This is definitively indicative that organic sulfur is incorporated into cystine, an amino acid which alone counts more than 20 percent of total amino acids in feather. Total homogenates made from liver, kidney, heart and breast muscle during the third and treatment also emitted radioactivity.

      • 드레인 전류 잡음원만을 고려한 스케일링이 가능한 바이어스 의존 P-HEMT 잡음모델

        게이트 길이가 0.2㎛인 P-HEMT에 대하여 드레인 바이어스 전류의 변화 및 게이트 폭에 대해 스케일링이 가능한 잡음모델을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서는 S-파라미터를 정확히 예측하기 위하여 x를 제외한 intrinsic 파라미터는 offset를 도입하여 정규화 한 후 스케일링을 하였다. 드레인 포화전류에 대한 드레인 전류의 비율과 게이트 폭을 변수로 하는 소신호 모델 파라미터의 맞춤함수를 구하였다. 또한, 잡음 파라미터를 정확히 예측하기 위하여 진성저항 잡음 온도 T_g, 게이트 단 전류 잡음원 등가잡음 컨덕턴스 G_ni 드레인 단 전류 잡음원 등가잡음 컨덕턴스 G_no를 잡음 모델정수로 사용하여 그 값을 추출하여 스케일링 하였다. 잡음 온도 T_g는 드레인 전류와 게이트 폭에 거의 추출되었다. 그러므로, G_no만을 잡음 모델정수로 하는 잡음모델과 T_g, G_ni, G_no를 잡음 모델정수로 하는 잡음모델을 측정값과 비교하여 본 결과 G_no만을 갖는 잡음모델도 측정된 잡음 파라미터와 잘 일치하였다. 따라서, 모델 정수 추출이 간단한 G_no 만을 갖는 잡음모델은 게이트 폭과 바이어스 전류에 대해 스케일링이 가능한 실용적인 잡음모델임을 확인하였다. Bias-dependent noise models of 0.2㎛ gate length P-HEMT's which are scalable with gate width are proposed. To predict S-parameters of the P-HEMT's the intrinsic parameters except for x subtracted the offsets introduced in this paper are normalized to the gate width and then scaled. The small-signal model parameters are expressed as fitting functions of the drain current to I_dss ratio and gate width. In addition, to estimate accurately noise parameters the noise temperature T_g of the intrinsic resistance, the equivalent noise conductance G_ni of the gate current noise source, and the equivalent noise conductance G_no of the drain current noise source are adopted as the noise model parameters.         젖소 말초혈액 림프구로부터 소백혈병 바이러스 배양 및 전자현미경적 관찰

        국내 젖소의 54.2%가 BLV에 감염되어 있지만 현재까지 국내에서는 소백혈병 바이러스 (BLV) 입자를 확인한 연구 보고가 없기 때문에 BLV 항체 양성 소의 말초혈액림프구를 배양, BLV를 발현시켜 전자현미경으로 바이러스 입자를 검출하였고 배양조건에 따른 바이러스 발현율 및 발현 시간을 비교하였다. 검사 결과 전형적인 C-형 바이러스를 확인할 수 있었으며 BLV 단크론 항체를 이용한 면역염색결과 BLV 항원 양성으로 확인되었다. BLV 는 대부분 세포 외부에 분포하고 있었으며 세포질 막에서 생성, 발아되어 나오는 것도 관찰되었다. 전체 바이러스의 크기는 90~100 nm였으며 nucleocapsid는 40~60nm였다. 소태아혈청 (FBS)과 T- 및 B-림프구 분열촉진물질(mitogen)을 각각 첨가하여 배양한 결과 두 군 모두에서 BLV 발현이 확인되었다. Lipopolysaccharide 첨가군은 배양 12시간, Conconavalin A 첨가군은 배양 24시간에 각각 림프구의 10%에서 바이러스가 관찰되었다. 또한 FBS만 첨가한 군과 FBS와 mitogen을 모두 첨가하지 않은 군에서도 관찰되었으나 바이러스의 수는 적었다. 본 연구에서 확립된 BLV 배양 기법을 활용하면 BLV에 감염된 소 중 바이러스를 발현하는 소, 즉 전파능이 있는 개체를 찾아내어 우선적으로 도태할 수 있기 때문에 BLV 감염으로 인한 피해를 막는데 효과적으로 이용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. Many studies have been performed on the bovine leukemia virus (BLV) since bovine leukosis had been reported in 1968 in Korea. However, there was no report on the ultrastructural examination of BLV. An attempt to detect C-type viral particles in the cultured peripheral blood lymphocytes of Holstein-Friesian dairy cattle, was made to determine whether in vitro viral expression might be used as a reliable method to identify the cow which is likely to transmit BLV. In transmission electron microscopic (TEM) examination, the virus particles were found predominantly outside of the lymphocytes even though a few particles were also observed within the membrane bound cytoplasmic vacuoles. All of them were C-type particles consisting of a central, electron-dense core separated by a clear area from a limiting envelope with a unit membrane structure. Virus particles were easily detected in the lymphocyte which was cultured with medium supplemented with either T-lymphocyte mitogen (conconavalin A) or B-lymphocyte mitogen (lipopolysaccharide). Identical viral particles, although fewer, were also consistently present in the lymphocytes cultured with medium which was containing foetal bovine serum (FBS) only and which was containing neither FBS or mitogen. By contrast, no virus particle was detected in extensive examination of lymphocytes before culture. In conclusion, the BLV cultivation and detection methods established in this study could be used as a tool to identify and eliminate the cattle which can transmit the BLV.
