Filtration studies, using simulated test nanoparticles or diesel nanoparticles, have been performed about Inconel foam filters for DPF combined with electrostatic precipitation. The simulated test particles were synthesized by laser ablation in the nitrogen atmosphere at the standard condition. The diesel particles were exhausted from the diesel engine driven on the condition of idle or load mode. Filtration efficiency of the metal foam filter is very low because most of particles are penetrated through the large pores of filter. However, the efficiency was considerably improved by applying the electric field to the filter and/or charging the nanoparticles. Nevertheless, the pressure drop of filter hardly increased because the filter-pores were not clogged by deposited particles and kept open.

In this paper, we investigate the variational formulars for the class P of function p(z) for which Re p(z) > 0 for lzl < 1 and p(0)= 1 and extremal problems for the class P. And then we study an extremal problem for the class K_β, the class of functions that are close-to-convex of order β,0≤β≤1, by using variational methods. Let F(u,v) be a function of two variable u, v which is analytic in a neighborhood of {(f(§),§:fεK_β) where §is fixed point in |z|<1. We show that ?? is attained for a function of the form f(z)=1/(β+1)1/(x-y)[((1+xz)/(1+yz))^(β+1)-1] where |x|=|y|=1 and x≠y. The proof of this result for the class K_β, 0 <β≤1, depends on the variational formula for starlike functions given by Hummel and the variational formula for functions with positive real part given by Robertson.

It is shown by Hartman, Muldowney and Nehari to study for the disconjugacy criteria of the linear differential equations and by Fink to study for the form ||f||p≤H(n,p,q) (b-1)^(n+1/p-1/q) ||f^(n)||q. The object of this note is to show that we want to extend the theorem of necessary conditions for such a soluton to exist so that the denial of these conditions give disconjugacy of the differential equation. It is shown by Nehari, Schwarz and Friedland that if ∫^b_a||A||_rp<C_rp(n) then a general first order linear system of differential equations x'=A(t)x is nonoscillatory on a real interval I, where C_rq(n)=2∫^1_o(1+J^r)^-(r/1)(1+J^q)^-(1/q)_dJ, p^-1+q^-1=1, 1≤p≤r≤∞. The object of this note is to show that in a special case which A=YZ^T the linear differential operator L is disconjugate on I under the above condition if the operator U_k is disconjugate on I.
