Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1997. 99 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 45(45.5%) were PPNG. Conclusion : The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 45.5% in 1997.

Drilling process is usually used in various manufacturing processes. The burrs took place when drilling process is conducted. Therefore the burr problem occurred from drilling process is very significant. Sometimes, burrs cause unexpected problems such as no good quality product that has a good surface roughness. Therefore, it is important to know characteristics of burr formation and to remove the burr from the drilled material at machining process. This study aims that how to produce the better drilled products by controlling of process factors.

In this paper, a theoretical analysis of zero-voltage-switching inverter with each capacitor in parallel with each switching device is presented along with experimental results. The proposed inverter offers both zero turn-on and zero turn-off switching losses, yielding high efficiency at high frequencies. In addition, the soft switching method reduces switching noise associated with the high frequency ringing and high voltage stress at the switching instants. Also, the equivalent circuit of a matching transformer converted primary to secondary side and normalized parameter for generally description are introduced to the estimation of the proposed circuit. A 1KW class-D inverter was built and tested. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental ones. ZVS can be achieved above the resonant frequency and in a limited range of the load resistance. The proposed circuit is considered to be useful for induction heating applications.

For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.
SDS-겔로부터 효율적인 단백질 분리방법과 31 kDa 연접후치밀질 단백질의 동정

연접후치밀질(PSD)의 분자조성은 아직 대체로 알려져 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 크기의 연접후치밀질 단백질들을 효율적으로 SDS-겔에서부터 추출하는 방법을 제시하고, 이를 이용하여 연접후치밀질의 1% n-octyl glucoside에 용해되지 않는 분핵에 존재하는 31kDa크기의 단백직(PSD31로 명명)을 SDS-겔로부터 분리하고, trypsin 처리하여 생성되는 펩티드의 아미노산 서열을 결정하였다. PSD31의 아미노산 서열은 adenine nucleotide translocator 1(ANT1)과 매우 상동성이 높았다. 연접후치밀질에 ANT1이 존재함은 신경조직의 세포외 공간에 adenosine nucleotide를 유리할 수 있는 기구가 연접에 존재함을 시사한다. The molecular composition of the postsynaptic density (PSD) is largely hon. In this report, an electroelution protocol was demonstrated to be used for efficient isolation of PSD proteins with diverse molecular sizes. Using this protocol, a 31 kDa protein in the 1% n-octyl glucoside-insoluble PSD fraction (termed as PSD31) was purified from SDS-gels, and internal peptides were determined for amino acid sequences. The amino acid sequences of the PSD31 were highly homologous with the adenine nucleotide translocator 1 (ANTI). The association of ANTl with PSD suggests presence of a mechanism in synapses for releasing adenosine nucleotides into the extracellular space.

<P>Soluble <I>N</I>‐ethylmaleimide sensitive‐factor attachment receptor (SNARE) proteins have crucial roles in driving exocytic membrane fusion. Molecular recognition between vesicle‐associated (v)‐SNARE and target membrane (t)‐SNARE leads to the formation of a four‐helix bundle, which facilitates the merging of two apposing membranes. Synthetic peptides patterned after the SNARE motifs are predicted to block SNARE complex formation by competing with the parental SNAREs, inhibiting neuronal exocytosis. As an initial attempt to identify the peptide sequences that block SNARE assembly and membrane fusion, we created thirteen 17‐residue synthetic peptides derived from the SNARE motifs of v‐ and t‐SNAREs. The effects of these peptides on SNARE‐mediated membrane fusion were investigated using an <I>in vitro</I> lipid‐mixing assay, <I>in vivo</I> neurotransmitter release and SNARE complex formation assays in PC12 cells. Peptides derived from the N‐terminal region of SNARE motifs had significant inhibitory effects on neuroexocytosis, whereas middle‐ and C‐terminal‐mimicking peptides did not exhibit much inhibitory function. N‐terminal mimicking peptides blocked N‐terminal zippering of SNAREs, a rate‐limiting step in SNARE‐driven membrane fusion. Therefore, the results suggest that the N‐terminal regions of SNARE motifs are excellent targets for the development of drugs to block SNARE‐mediated membrane fusion and neurotransmitter release.</P>
