      • 서울의 PPNG 발생 빈도(1991-1992)

        The prevalence of PPNG among pretreated gonorrhea cases isolated at the STD clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul has been studied and reported annually since 1981. In 1991, 123 strains of N.gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 58(47.1%) were PPNG. In 1992, 98 starains of N.gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 51(52.0%) were PPNG. In all, 109(49.3%) strains were found to be PPNG among 221 strains isolated between 1991-1992. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul showed increased tendency till 1989, thereafter, it has been stationary or slightly decreasing.

        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

      • S-542 Indomethacin aggravates the renal injury by inhibition of adenosine-medited renal protection in AKI

        Background: Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a leading cause of acute kidney injury with high morbidity and mortality due to limited therapy. AKI emerges in various clinical settings and is complex with outcome linking oxidative stress, inflammation, and cell death. Therefore protection of AKI is still an unsolved problem. Indomethacin is generally known that it inhibits the production of prostaglandins through the inhibition both cyclooxygenase (COX) 1 and 2. Prostaglandins have a wide variety of effect such as regulation of vasodilation, inflammation, regeneration, pain, fever. Therefore effect of indomethacin in AKI is different according to injury model. We investigated whether indomethacin which inhibits the production of prostaglandins aggravate the renal injury in AKI mouse model. Methods: Male C57/BL6 mice (8-10 weeks old, weight 20~25 g) were used. Acute kidney injury is induced by bilateral kidneys pedicle clamping which were subjected to 20 min or 30 min at both kidneys. Mice were treated with indomethacin at before and after injury. Blood and kidney samples were collected at 24 hr after IRI. The expression level of creatinine, N-gal & Kim-1 were detected in serum. And the expression level of PGE2, cAMP and adenosine were detected in kidney. Kidney Injury score were measured by HE staining and TUNEL. Results: In bilateral AKI model, Serum NGAL level and creatinine level were significantly highest in indomethacin treated group compared to non-treated group (NGAL, p<0.05; creatinine, p<0.01). Indomethacin treated group showed significantly more necrosis and apoptosis compared to non-treated group. Furthermore, Indomethacine inhibited the production of prostaglandins, cAMP and adenosine. Conclusions: Indomethacin inhibits adenosine-mediated renal protection by inhibition of prostaglandin production in AKI. Therefore Indomethacin worsened renal injury by inhibition of prostaglandin production in AKI. * This research was supported by a grant of the Korea Health Technology R&D Project through the KHIDI, funded by the Ministry of Health & Welfare, Republic of Korea (grant number :H15C2212)

        원발성 피부 CD30 양성/ALK 음성 퇴형성 대세포 림프종 1예

        Primary cutaneous CD3O(Ki-1) Positive anaplastic large cell Iymphoma(ALCL) is a rare subset of cutaneous Iymphoma. with a much better prognosis. ALCL is a heterogeneous process that may have a T-cell, B-cell, or indeterminant(null) phenotype and which may or may not express the anaplastic Iymphoma kinase(ALK) oncoprotein. We report a case of ALCL in a 72 year old man. About 4 months ago, multiple erythematous firm ulcerative mass and satellite nodules developed on the right lower leg. The skin lesions rapidly increased in number and size. Some lesions became painful and centrally ulcered. The histologic findings showed a diffuse infiltrate of large Iymphocytes with large nuclei, prominent and multiple nucleoli, and ample cytoplasm. Immunohistochemical stainings for CD3O, CD5 were positive but stainings for LCA, CD3, CD45RO, CD2O, cytokeratin, EMA, and ALK were negative. Therefore, we diagnosed our case as CD+/30ALK- ALCL (Korean J Dermatol 2003;41(5) : 666~669)

      • 과학 포트폴리오 체제의 적용이 초등학생의 사회심리학적 교실 환경에 미치는 효과

        The purpose of the research is to investigate the effects of a portfolio system on students' socio-psychological classroom environments in elementary science class. Two schools were selected from a metropolitan area, a city, and one school from a rural area in central Korea. Two fifth-grade classes were sampled from each school selected, and one class is assigned to experimental group and the other to control group, respectively. The total number of participants of the study is 399. Portfolio system was administered to experimental group, and conventional teaching to control group for two and half month. WIHIC, an inventory to measure socio-psychological classroom environment, was administered as a pre-and post-test. Experimental group gained statistically higher scores on WIHIC after administering portfolio system. They showed more positive perceptions on sub-areas of WIHIC such as teacher support, task orientation, and equity. There is interaction between region and group: the effects of the portfolio system is highest in rural area, lowest in metropolitan area, and the city in between. Portfolio system have positive effects on students' socio-psychological classroom environments. Enhanced socio-psychological classroom environments is expected to contribute to positive self-concept, higher science achievements, and self-directed learning.

      • 빛에 대한 국민학교 학생들의 개념조사

        The purpose of this study was to investigate children's(K-5) conceptions about light in Korea. The two aspect of children's conceptions about light were identified: the sources of light, the nature of vision. Data were collected from 92 children by a mixture of writing, drawing and interview, and were analysed by systematic networks. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. Children showed an awareness of a wide variety of sources of light. The predominant sources exampled by children were primary sources. 2. Children explained vision as intentional of seeing Seeing. means action that move their heal or eyes to the objects. Infants(K-1) did not recognize that light are needed for vision. 3. A notable features in children's conceptions about light were context-dependent

        진동에 의한 혈관 내 폐 보조장치의 산소전달 특성

        본 연구는 급성호흡부전환자를 치료하기 위하여 사용되고 있는 혈관 내 폐 보조장치의 기체전달을 향상시키기 위하여 중공사막에 진동기법을 사용하여 기체전달을 향상시키고자 시도하였다. 그리고 혈관 내 폐 보조장치를 정맥에 삽입하기 전, 혈관 내 폐 보조장치의 설계조건을 실험적 모델을 통하여 기체전달을 예측할 수 있는 예측식을 만들고자 하였다. 실험결과, 본 연구에서는 진동기법이 기체전달을 향상시키는데 효과적임을 확인할 수 있었다. 뿐만 아니라, 충진율과 가징 주파수의 함수관계를 이용하여 기체전달을 예측 할 수 있었다. 실험에 의하여 얻어진 결과는 예측식에 의하여 얻어진 결과와 유사한 결과를 얻었다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 충진율과 가진 주파수의 함수를 이용하여 VIVLAD의 기체전달을 예측할 수 있었다. In this paper, we tried to improve gas exchange of the vibrating intravascular lung assist device(VIVLAD) using vibrating method in the hollow fiber membrane, for the patients suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS). And we tried to formularize prediction equations to make a prediction about gas transfer for designing intravenous artificial lung assist device, and designed modules under various conditions were studied through an experimental modeling before inserted the artificial lung assist device into as venous. As a result, we are convinced that vibration method is very useful for the has transfer increasing. Also, we can estimate the gas transfer as a function of the packing density and excited frequencies. The gas transfer obtained from the experiment was similar to that from the prediction equation, confirming the usefulness prediction equation. Therefore, we can estimate the gas transfer of the VIVLAD as a function of the packing density and excited frequencies.

      • 소리에 대한 국민학교 학생들의 개념

        The purpose of this study was to investigate Korean children's(1∼5th) conceptions about sound: the production of sound, the transmission of sound. Using interview, data were collected from 80 children, and analysed by category schemes. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. Younger children thought that sound production was often attributed to the impact or to the properties of the object. 2. Sound transmission was not an idea which was expressed by many children. Some children considered sound to travel through the string on the string telephone, or through air, but what was meant by 'air' was often unclear. Somtimes, they regarded sound as a different kind of matter. 3. A notable feature in children's conceptions on sound was context-dependent.

      • 유화중합을 이용한 폴리스티렌 미세다공체의 제조에 관한 연구

        A low density microcellular foam was prepared using inverse emulsion polymerization method. First radically polymerizable styrene monomer and water with nonionic surfactants formed inverse emulsion, then this system was polymerized. The microcellular foam was obtained by removing water phase. The morphology of emulsion foams with system variables was examined in terms of pore size, cell structure, bulk density, and specific surface area. The emulsion system variables including monomer feeding methods, oil phase/water phase ratio, surfactant/water ratio, and mechanical stirring conditions were consider in this study. The ratio of surfactant/styrene rather than that of styrene/water shows dominant effect on the pore size of emulsion foams. While the open-cell/closed-cell morphology was mainly determined by the ratio of styrene/water. Mechanical stirring also has an effect on the pore size. Sorbitan monooleate among various nonionic surfactants seems to be the best surface active agent in styrene/water inverse emulsion system.
