        Simplified Effective Compressive Strengths of Columns with Intervening Floor Slabs

        The current design codes discuss the effective compressive strengths of columns, which reflect a decrease in load transfer performance that can occur when columns and slabs have different concrete compressive strengths. The effective compressive strength of a column increases as it is confined by the slab, and the design codes mandate three different effective compressive strengths for interior columns (confinement on four sides), exterior columns (confinement on three sides), and corner columns (confinement on two sides). For both corner and exterior columns, the confinement effect of the slab is significantly smaller than that for the interior column, and there is a more marked decrease in load transfer performance. However, there is still a lack of theoretical studies investigating the effective compressive strengths of the corner and exterior columns. Therefore, based on the analysis model established in previous research, this study has proposed an equation for calculating the effective compressive strengths of the corner, exterior and isolated columns without any confinement effects of the slab. In addition, axial loading tests of isolated columns were conducted and the proposed equation was verified.

        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        Paul Klee論 : 그 조형적 배면의 의의률 중심으로

        Klee'.s art finds its fulfilment in the emblum of a spirit in, harmony with the world, looking deeply into the formal development of nature and higher process of its imagination, the two worlds-inside and outside are united in his art. We can light up the meaning of Klee's art from these following view points of three aspects. The first; The art of Klee is mysterical and metaphysical deep rooted with original Romanticism. It demands a philosophy of appearance and reality. His plastic language comprises many complex modern aspects which vyere impossible for us to define its general style. As though his plastic construction and formal language might be based on Modernism-Cubism, Expressionism, Surrealism etc, it meant beyond this dimention, because the mysterical meaning of something which can not be found in this world, always take its- place in his picture. As he calls his art'a metaphor of creation, his world in entirely invented, not imitated. He dreamed a I work of vast range, encompassing the whole realm of the elements of content and style. The second ; Klee,s art means always humoristic fantasy. The deep emanations of the unconscious, the grotesque and ironic suffering and death, all find a place in his canvas, these reads us the world of super reality or fantasy and the deep meditation. It means not excape world, but joyful world like children's world. His varied method of linear expression makes visible the other reality hiden back of appearance, this other reality means fantasy and fantasy is his real message, His unique contribution to art lies precisely in his persuasive power which his sensibility has with the physical material to hand: in the way he could make a blot or a stain embody his poetic fantasy. The third; Klee's art comprises genetical energies. His art is not a simple lable describing some events, but a creating forms. For him 'to paint’ is ‘to live'. He regarded tlie creative act as the bringing forth the rebirth out of himself of images which, long burried and transformed, sought release analogous to the creation of the cosmos. Like 'to paint* means 'to live,, for him, the work of art means microcosm, therefore the work of art itself has the universal energies of genesis.

        韓國人에서 HumFIBRA/FGA와 D21S11 遺傳座의 對立遺傳子 頻度와 遺傳的 變異의 分析

        Allele-and genotype frequencies of the two short tandem repeat (STR) loci, HumFGA and D21S11, were determined in Korean population(n=196). DNA typing was accomplished by applying fluorescence-labeled PCR products and a differently labeled sequenced allelic ladders, followed by automated analysis using ABI 377 automatic sequencer and GeneScan 2.02 software. Prior to typing, allelic ladder of each locus was constructed with a combination of all alleles occuring from the population sample. A total of 15 alleles and 48 genotypes with the heterozygosity of 0.854 for HumFGA, and 12 alleles and 33 genotypes with the heterozygosity of 0.787 for D21S11 are observed in a population of 196 genetically unrelated individuals. No deviations from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium were observed(p=0.753 for HumFGA, p=0.262 for D21S11). The data presented here (power of discrimination and average power of exclusion) show that both STR Loci, HumFGA and D21S11, are very informative for individualization from criminal evidences, and are also useful for parentage testing.

      • 함암요법으로 골수기능이 억제된 악성종양환자에서 rhG-CSF의 임상적 효과

        We have studied the efficacy of rhG-CSF in patients with non-hodgkin's lymphoma, acute leukemia, and small cell lung cancer undergoing anticancer chemotherapy. These patients were below leukocyte count 3,000 cubic millimeter due to myelosuppression induced by the first cycle of intensive chemotherapy. Treatment with rhG-CSF (100㎍ per square meter of body surface area per day in a 30-minute intravenous infusion) was begun two days and for 14 consecutive days after the end of the second cycle of chemotherapy. The results were as follows. 1. The onset of myelosuppression was 6 days after chemotherapy, and the onset of recovery was 16.7 days after chemotherapy, and the duration of granulocytopenia was 10.7 days in patients with malignant tumor during contrast period. 2. The duration of granulocytopenia was shortened 5.2 days in patients administered rhG-CSF than without rhG-CSF, and we observed the shortest duration of granulocytopenia with increasing granulocyte in patients with small cell lung cancer. 3. Observing the differential count of leukocyte checked the highest level of leukocyte in contrast and rhG-CSF period, the persentage of neutrophil was increased in patients with acute leukemia and small cell lung cancer during rhG-CSF period, but not increased in patients with non-hodgkin's lymphoma. 4. rhG-CSF was not influenced on liver faction, renal fuction, uric acid, and glucose metabolism, also had no effect on recovery of platelet. In conclusion, rhG-CSF can be administered to patients with hematologic or nonhematologic malignant tumor that myelosuppression induced by anticancer chemotherapy result in shortening the duration of granulocytopenia and increasing the peripheral neutrophil, therefore full dose chemotherapy can be administered on time, and rhG-CSF may reduce the morbidity and mortality of patients with malignant tumor undergoing chemotherapy.

      • Pseudo-Gitelman씨 증후군 1예

        Gitelman's syndrome is a rare disorder with a characteristic set of metabolic abnormalities. These include hypokalemia, metabolic alkalosis, hypocalciuria and hypomagnesemia. The clinical manifestations of Gitelman's syndrome are very similar with those of Bartter's syndrome and diuretic abuse. Gitelman' syndrome and Bartter's syndrome can be distinguished by renal clearance study after administration of furosemide and thiazide, since the primary defect in each of these disorders is an impairment in sodium reabsorption in the distal tubule and loop of Henle, respectively. Pseudo-Bartter's syndrome due to diuretic abuse can be distinguished by history of diuretic use and a positive urine assay for diuretics. We have experienced a case of pseudo-Gitelman's syndrome in 56-year old woman with unexplained hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis, hypocalciuria, and hypomagnesemia. The patient denied ingestion of diuretic medication. The results of renal clearance study using furosemide and thiazide in this case suggested the presence of the primary defect of sodium reabsorption in the distal tubule rather than in the loop of Henle. These clinical and laboratory findings were consistent with those of Gitelman's syndrome. But, this case was confirmed as pseudo-Gitelman's syndrome since diuretics were detected by a urine assay for diuretics. Furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide were contained in the pill that she had been taking due to constipation. Herein, we report the case of pseudo-Gitelman's syndrome by abuse of cathartics containig diuretics presented as Gitelman's syndrome in renal clearance study.

Cause of having a strong oxygenization in the physical world, the ozone has sterillization effect predominantly against virus, bacteria, etc and has application in decolorization, deodorization, food storage and air cleansing and has a merit that does not cause the secondary pollution by being restored to oxygen lastly. Therefore, This project describe study on the ozone generation power supply using the high frequency electric field method and the lamp type ozone generator using photochemistry, one of method of generate ozone.

      • 정구경기의 스포츠상해 요인에 대한 분석

        To study the sport injury with retrospectively on the practice and competition in soft tennis players, 304 soft tennis players (from middle school to adult team's men and women) were answered by questionnaire and interview. The results were follows: 1. Injured part of body The wrist was a greater injuries in men(24.25%)and women(21.25%). The wrist was the most common site of injury, accounting for 20.44% of injuries in a forward(net) player and 19.76% of injuries in a backward(base line) player. Distribution by injured according to sport career between less than 3years(28.89%) and 5∼10 years(19.44%) was the knee. On the other hand wrist(26.42%) career 3∼5 years and waist(22.22%) more than career 10years are the most frequently injured part. 2. Symptom The muscles and tendon were the highest injury in both sex, the position and sport career. And those of muscle bruises were the most common symptom of injury. 3. Injury frequency The service or smash action was the highest cause of injury and then forehand stroke, especially smash in a forward player and service in a backward player. The period of injury presented during main exercise (44.12%) and support exercise(42.28%). The season of the injury on higher frequency was winter(67.14%) and afternoon(47.12%) of the day time. But the most frequency of injury by the career was the morning(50%) due to inadequate warming up. 4. Cause of injury The site and type of injury may depend an the training condition. The lover athlete career have increased in frequency of total injuries injures, possibly due to the overheated game desire. But injury caused by the play ground were shown by the higher sport career. 5. First aid on the injury Most first aids of injury were treated by himself and they had the clinic period within a week. 6. Psychological response after the injury Injured players had the anxiety on their skill's decline due to lack of practice during treatment period.
