After briefly reviewing the history of lexcoigraphy in modem Korea, Nam Kishim tackles many problems created by the general deficiency of current Korean monolingual dictionaries in phonological morphological and semantic points. Background : Bleeding after endoscopic procedure of the stomach carries an increased risk of morbidity and mortality. In case of oozing hemorrhage, not in active hemorrhage, powdered sodium alginate may play a role in control of bleeding with convenience. Therefore, we evaluated the clinical effect and efficacy of sodium alginate powder in upper G-Ⅰ bleeding. Methods : Forty-five patients who had upper G-Ⅰ bleeding after endoscopic procedure were enrolled in this study. Twenty-five patients of them were managed by the application of powder preparation of Sodium alginate(ALTO). The others were observed without treatment. The next day, we performed endoscopy in all patients to ascertain the hemostasis. Results : Of 25 patients managed with Sodium alginate, only two patients(8%) had bleeding (hemostatic rate : 92%), On the other hand, of 20 patients who did not receive any treatment, 3 patient(15%) had bleeding (hemostatic rate : 85%). There was no statistical difference between the two groups(p>0.05). Using other endoscopic procedure, We successfully treated the patient who continued to bleed. Conclusion : We evaluated the effect of the spary of sodium alginate on oozing hemorrhage. Although there was no statistical significance in our study, it seems that the spray of sodium alginate may be a useful method for the prevention of bleeding after endoscopic procedure.

Despite the use of aggressive local and systemic treatment including autologous stem cell transplantation in multiple myeloma, extramedullary recurrences are common and the prognosis of these patients is poor. Many novel drugs such as thalidomide, lenalidomide and bortezomib improve the response of treatment of multiple myeloma, but some reports failed to describe thalidomide has effect in extramedullary plasmacytoma. Recent data report on the successful treatment plasmacytomas with bortezomib in patients with advanced multiple myeloma. We treated 4 relapsed or refractory extramedullary plasmacytomas with bortezomib at our institution. We recognized all these extramedullary plasmacytomas decreased and showed more than partial response. This report lends support to the efficacy of bortezomib in the treatment of plasmacytoma and describes the safe use of bortezomib. Responses may, however, be of short duration. Therefore, despite our limited experience, we propose that bortezomib may be considered a therapeutic option for such patients who have risk of radiation therapy

Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the behavioral and emotional problems associated with nocturnal enuresis in Korean children. Methods : Three hundred eighteen children with nocturnal enuresis, together with their parents, completed the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), Disruptive Behavior Disorder Scale according to DSM-IV (DBDS), Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAIC), and Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale (PHCSC). Ninety-three normal students were selected as the control group. Results : Compared to the normal control group, the mean scores with regard to the withdrawn, social problems, attention problems, delinquent behavior, aggressive behavior, externalizing problems and total problems profiles were significantly higher in the nocturnal enuresis group according to the CBCL results. The nocturnal enuresis group also scored significantly higher in the ADHD and ODD profiles of the DBDS. The nocturnal enuresis group was more depressed and anxious than the control group according to the results of the CDI and STAI. The mean score of the PHCSC was significantly lower in the nocturnal enuresis group when compared to the normal control group. Conclusion : The results of this study suggest that children with nocturnal enuresis in Korea have clinically relevant behavioral and emotional problems. The findings support the link between nocturnal enuresis and psychopathology in Korean children.

The application of the SSARR model to any particular watershed depends largely on the development of parameter relationships. Parameter relationships are usually established by reconstituting historical streamflow records often with sparse input data. In this study, it has been estimated model parameters which required to flood runoff analysis using the SSARR Model. As it has been examined runoff characteristic through the variety of runoff simulation model parameter, it will be determined optimal parameters required to the runoff analysis of riber basin. The major results of this reserch can be summarized as follows; 1) As the results of the watershed runoff parameters, SMI-ROP, RGS-RS and BII-BFP are sensitive to the runoff hydrograph shape and peak time. But KE-RI relationship curve is not affected to it. 2) As the results of the streamflow parameters, Phase No., KTS and n are sensitive to the peak time, different from watershed runoff parameters.

Adsorption equilibrium of heavy metals ion on the peat moss was confirmed Frundlich isotherm Removal efficiency of heavy metals ion was increased from pH 2 to 10 and heavy metal removal efficiency was increased in the sequence of Cu(Ⅱ) > Pb(Ⅱ) > Cd(Ⅱ) > Mn(Ⅱ) on the PM(Peat Moss). The PM is likely to be more effective adsorption than the PAC to removal of metal ions in the solution, since PM's weakly acidic functional groups which is not founded on the PAC, in addition to its high surface area and porosity. But, the PM is not separated from the solution water by sedimentation process. So, a liquid and solid seperation between the PM and the solution water could be considered for the PM's field application. But peat moss was low cost adsorbent. Thus author propose to adopt PM as a adsorbent for heavy metal removal.

In the study, a protection method for the water damage of the small sized dam including its surrounding area was proposed, by analyzing the hydralic and hydrologic with Dukdong dam, Bomun lake in the case of typhoon-storm. Generally, the hydralic and hydrololgic characteristics can be divided into the groups of flood-runoff characteristics, reservoir characteristics and channel characteristics. In this study, the flood-runoff characteristics of river basin are according to the typhoon storms applied and analyzed make the best of actual typhoon storms, the following results were obtained. 1) It was found that the time distribution characteristic of the storm like that of daily rainfall, having its core on the mountain Toham, was centralized in the areas of Dukdong dam and Bomoon lake. 2) The long-term fluctuation of daily maximum rainfall was analyzed and it Gyong Ju site in 1991 year much larger than ever before. 3) As the result of rainfall frequency analysis, it was revealed the daily maximum rainfall of typhoon(Gladis), higher than return period 500 years. 4) In the characteristic of flood-runoff with the site of Dukdong dam and Bomoom lake, the flood-runoff at that time was simulated by using some models such as IHP, SCS and Clark Model. As the result, it was also recognized that the Clark model was most acceptable and the probable discharge of Dukong dam and Bomum lake was nearly return period 1000 years.

Despite advanced technologies in intensive care, pandemic influenza (H1N1 2009) can rapidly progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and cause death in a small subset of patients. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is expected to provide adequate gas exchange, to reduce ventilator-induced lung injury and, eventually, to improve outcome in these patients. A previously healthy, young female received mechanically ventilatory support because of rapidly progressive respiratory failure caused by 2009 H1N1 influenza. As she failed to respond to high ventilatory support, ECMO was instituted at 6 hours after admission. We describe detailed course of case and literature review on ECMO, helping physicians make a decision to initiate ECMO in patients with influenza-related ARDS.
