β-glucan 첨가물 (이뮨글루<sup>®</sup>) 급이를 통한 북방전복 (Nordotis discus hannai) 의 비특이 면역력과 생존율 증대 효과

본 연구는 ${\beta}$-glucan이 첨가된 사료첨가제 (이뮨글루$^{TM}$) 급이시 전복의 비특이 면역력의 증강 효과와 전염성 질병 감염 시 생존율의 변화를 확인하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 참전복 치패와 성패를 대상으로 이뮨글루$^{TM}$ 0, 0.1, 1%가 함유된 사료를 14일간 급이 하면서 면역력, 정균력, 생존율 등을 조사하였다. 조사 결과 이뮨글루$^{TM}$가 함유된 사료를 급이한 전복의 치패와 성패의 식세포작용이 증가하였으며 전복폐사 원인균인 Vibrio alginolyticus에 대한 정균력과 생존율이 상승하였다. 반면 염증량을 나타내는 NO량 역시 증가하였다. 따라서 ${\beta}$-glucan이 첨가된 사료첨가제 이뮨글루$^{TM}$는 전복 사육 시 전복의 면역력을 높이고 폐사율을 낮추는데 유용한 것으로 판단된다. The present study aimed to understand the effects of a ${\beta}$-glucan-added abalone feed (Immuneglu$^{TM}$) on the immune parameters, survival rate, and anti-bacterial activity of the abalone Nordotis discus hannai. During the study, spat and adult abalones were fed 0, 0.1, and 1% of Immuneglu$^{TM}$ mixed with artificial feed for 2 weeks, and their immune parameters, survival rate, and anti-bacterial activity were measured. The results showed that abalones fed on Immuneglu$^{TM}$-added feed showed a higher phagocytic rate, survival rate, and anti-bacterial activity against Vibrio alginolyticus, than those with the control treatment. In addition, the nitric oxide concentration, which indicates an inflammatory response, increased in the treatment group. Our study suggests that Immuneglu$^{TM}$ might be a useful additive for increasing the immunity and survival rates of abalones during mass culture.
595nm 색소레이저(Vbeam?)를 이용한 비후성 반흔의 치료

Hypertrophic scars are relatively common, but they remain very difficult to treat and induce functional and psychologic morbidity. Many treatment modalities have been advocated in the past. But none of these are satisfactory with unpredictable result, long treatment interval and sometimes unacceptable side effects.Recent use of the flashlamp-pumped pulsed-dye laser(585nm) has been shown to be effective in the treatment of various traumatic and surgical scars with improvement in scar texture, color and pliability with minimal side effects. 80 patients with 95 hypertrophic scars which had little response to usual conservative treatment and resulted from trauma, operation, skin graft donor sites, and burns were treated with Vbeam(595nm) pulsed dye laser(Candela Laser Corporation, Wayland, Mass). The mean number of treatment was 2.2. Period of follow-up vary from 2 month to 16 months.The 595nm Pulsed Dye Laser can effectively improve scar pliability and texture and decrease erythema and associated symptoms yielding cosmetically and functionally acceptabel clinical results. Complications such as hypopigmentation, ulcer and infection were not seen.
Fouling reduction using the resonance vibration in membrane separation of whole milk

Resonance vibration mitigated membrane fouling during whole milkfiltration by submerged membranesystem with hollowfibers of polyvinylidenefluoride. Resonance vibration extended thefiltrationduration (70 kPa) by 54 times, compared with no vibration. Resonance vibration was found more effectivefor fouling reduction than mechanical vibration, at which module is vibrated mechanically withoutresonance effect. Fouling reduction performance of resonance vibration was not affected by packingdensity because everyfiber oscillates at resonance vibration. Larger lateral displacement and smallerwave node were favored for fouling reduction. Use of longfiber forfiltration decreased the frequency, butincreased lateral displacement.

We have demonstrated that hybrid multiblock nanorods (MBNs) consisting of gold, nickel, andpolypyrrole were prepared by electrochemical deposition method using anodized aluminum oxide as atemplate. Thiol substituted poly(fluorene) was synthesized through Ni(0)-mediated polymerization. Thiol substituted poly(fluorene) was used for the surface modification of MBNs. The as-synthesized thiolsubstituted poly(fluorene) and surface modified MBNs were characterized by NMR, SEM, AFM, TEM, TGA,XRD, GPC and XPS. Optical properties of the prepared materials were investigated via UV–visSpectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The poly(fluorene) and surface modified MBNswere showing fluorescence decay life time of 3.47 and 2.77 ns, respectively.

Awareness of environmental control is considered a significant influence on the performance of asthma self-management behaviors, which are involved in maintaining effective asthma control. This study aimed to investigate whether immersive virtual reality (VR) education is effective in environmental control education for asthmatic children in Korea. Thirty asthmatic children aged 9 to 13 years with aeroallergen sensitization were enrolled. Environmental control education for asthmatic participants was performed using immersive VR (VR group) or conventional leaflets provided by asthma specialists (control group). Five questionnaires, on awareness of environmental control, memory, assessment of intent to act, a satisfaction test, and an Asthma Control Test (ACT), were used to estimate the effects of education. The scores for awareness of environmental control, memory, and intent to act significantly increased after education in both groups, and the scores remained high until 4 weeks after education. Both groups’ ACT scores were consistently high before and 4 weeks after education. Satisfaction scores were very high in the VR group. The increased scores in awareness of environmental control and intent to act indicate that the environmental control education using VR is worthy of attention as an effective educational tool for asthma management. Further developed techniques, including active environmental interventions by participants in VR, could be applied to effective asthma management.

Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) should be designed to have sufficient safety margins and to ensure seismic safety against earthquake that may occur during the plant life time. After the 9.12 Gyeongju earthquake accident, the structural integrity of nuclear power plants due to the beyond design basis earthquake is one of key safety issues. Accordingly, it is necessary to conduct structural integrity evaluations for domestic NPPs under beyond design basis earthquake. In this study, the Level 3 LBB (Leak Before Break) evaluation was performed by considering the beyond design basis earthquake for the surge line of a OPR1000 plant of which design basis earthquake was set to be 0.2g. The beyond design basis earthquake corresponding to peak ground acceleration 0.4g at the maximum stress point of the surge line was considered. It was confirmed that the moment behaviors of the hot leg and pressurized surge nozzle were lower than the maximum allowable loading in moment-rotation curve. It was also confirmed that the LBB margin could be secured by comparing the LBB margin through the Level 2 method. It was judged that the margin was secured by reducing the load generated through the compliance of the pipe.

The Smart factory is currently being proposed as solutions to rising manufacturing costs, shrinking labor populations, and energy problems in global manufacturing. Examples of improvement in quality and productivity through smart factory construction are can be found out in many domestic and foreign enterprises. However, small and medium-sized enterprises are having difficulty to construct smart factory due to problem with an analysis of expected effects and burden of investment costs. In addition, while research on the development of smart factory technologies is relatively active, research regarding quantitative performance prediction of introduction of smart factory technologies is lacking. In this paper, a framework is designed to analyze the effects of introducting smart factory technologies, and the framework consist of the selection of technologies to be introduced, quantitative analysis of expected effects and qualitative analysis phases of expected effects. A quantitative analysis phase of expected effects uses simulation and present simulation model construction procedures and methodologies. A qualitative analysis phase of expected effects predicts the level of effectiveness of each technology through a case study of the application of smart factory technologies.
