In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

상부요로계감염 환자에서 Gallium-67 Citrate 스캔 및 Tc-99m Dimercaptosuccinic Acid(DMSA)스캔의 임상적 의의

It is often not certain whether the focal defect of renal cortex of Tc-99m Dimercaptosuccinic acid(DMSA) renal scan in patients with acute pyelonephritis means the cortical scar by previous inflammation or recent active inflammatory lesion. Gallium-67 citrate(Ga-67) also has been known to be accumulated at the active inflammatory lesion. In order to evaluate the usefulness of the Ga67 and Tc-99m DMSA renal scan in patients with acute pyelonephritis, we reviewed the results of both study and clinical findings. Nintecn patients with typical clinical findings of acute pyelonephritis and admitted to our institute from Jan. 1998 to Nov. 1998 were included in this study. Tc-99m DMSA and Ga-67 scan were performed mean 3.3 and 7.3 days after admission. Eleven of 19 patients (57.9%) showed abnormally increased focal renal uptake on the Gallium-67 citrate scan and 14 of 19 patients(73.7%) had a cortical defect on the kidneys in Tc-99m DMSA scan. Seven(36.8%) patients had an abnormality in both study. Seven(36.8%) patients had an abnormality only in Tc-99m DMSA scan and 4 (21.1%) patients had an abnormality only in Ga-67 scan. Of 7 patients who had an abnormality on both scan, 5 patients had. an abnormality at same region in both scan and 2 patients had an abnormality at the different sites on the kidneys. With the above results, we speculate that Ga-67 scan and Tc-99m DMSA scan play a complementary role in the patients with upper urinary tract infection.

냉매조건에 따른 열교환기의 성능특성

These days, an attention of environment has been increasing all over the world. To prevent the green house effect and destruction of an ozone layer, an ozone destruction potential(ODP) be zero and a refrigerant for low global warming potential(GWP) is needed. HFC-134a, in which hydrogen is mixed instead of chlorine is a refrigerant used for automobile conditioners and its destruction potential is ecologically zero. However, it is not considered as a perfect substitutive refrigerant as its GWP is high. It is studied refrigerant mixtures in which HFC-134a, HFX-152a and CF₃I with low GWP and zero ODP are mixed by experimentally and concluded as follows : 1) With the variation of speed of compressor, outdoor air temperature effects the performance of air-conditioner, and the performance characteristics differ from according to the refrigerant. 2) Evaporator capacity is constant, condenser capacity is 6% more HFC-134a than mixed refrigerant. 3) The required power is higher than other mixed refrigerant of HFC-152a.

월경주기 증상의 요인 분석

404 nurses and nurse-aids rated their experiences of 45 symptoms(Moos' Menstrual Distress Questionnaire) of the menstrual, premenstrual and intermenstrual phase on a 4 point scale separately. The 45 symptoms were inter-related and factor analyzed separately for each phase. six common clusters of symptoms emerged from 3 phases, which were labeled concentration, motor tension, pain, pleasurable affect, autonomic reactions and water retention. Four clusters of symptoms emerged from premenstrual phase. These clusters were labeled instabillity, withdrwal reactions, depression and headache. The factor named unpleasurable affect emerged from intermenstrual and menstrual phase. Above findings were differed from the results of Moos' study in which eight basically replicated clusters of symptoms emerged from three phases. Through discussion of validity of this scale, and differences between results of Moos' and this study, we came to the conclusion that sampling of subjects, prospective longitudinal symptoms reporting, amount of variance in a symptom over the course of menstrual cycle and proper choice of factor analysis method would be salient variables to construct valid scale for measuring menstrual cycle symptoms.

저자들은 인슐린 비의존형 당뇨병 환자에서 통증성 구강내 미란 및 전신성 수포성 미란을 동반한 심상성 천포창 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Various skin conditions such as diabetic dermopathy, necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum, bullosis diabeticorum, granuloma annulare occur frequently in diabetes, although common lesions may be associated by chance. Pemphigus vulgaris(PV) is a blistering skin disease seen predominantly in elderly patients. This disorder is characterized by the loss of cohesion between epidermal cells with the resultant formation of intraepidermal blisters. These blisters rupture easily, leaving denuded areases that may crust and enlarge peripherally. In half or more of patients, lesions begin in the mouth: approximately 90% of patients have oromucosal involvement at some time during the course of their disease. But the relationship of this disorder with diabetes is not clear. We experienced a case of pemphigus vulgaris associated with NIDDM in 67 years old woman who was admitted due to painful oral ulcer and control of blood glucose, so we present this case with a review of literatures.

For the effective recovery of silver ion from silver plating solution the effects of operating conditions on the reaction crystallization process of silver halide were investigated in single-jet semibatch reactor. In the silver halide reaction crystallization processes the impeller speed, feeding rate and feed concentrations of silver and chloride ions were considered as major operating factors. Since effects of such operating conditions is mainly involved at two processes of generation of supersaturation and particle growth in ths silver halide reaction crystallization, the mean size and size distribution of silver halide particle which were created in the reactor strongly depended on which process is more dominantly influenced by the operating conditions. In the single-jet semibatch reactor for the silver halide reaction crystallization the process of generation of supersaturation was more sensitive to the oprating conditions than the partcle growth process. Thus, the mean particle size of silver halide was decreased with increase of feeding rate, feed concentration and impeller speed. However, the particle morphology of silver halide was unaffected by the variation of the operation conditions.

Dual-Gate GaN HEMT의 고출력 RF 특성에 대한 연구

Dual-gate AlGaN/GaN high electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) having a 0.35 gm gate length with 1.0 mm (8×125㎛) periphery were examined for applications requiring high power and high frequency operation. A typical device exhibited a maximum drain current density of 500 mA/mm, a device unity gain cut-off frequency (f_(τ)) of 30.5 GHz, and a maximum frequency of oscillation (f_(MAX)) of 43.7 GHz. Reduced feedback capacitance through the dual-gate cascode configuration allows a larger gate periphery for a given input capacitance, thus higher microwave power can be generated. A monolithic non-uniform distributed amplifier has been designed which offers increased efficiency and broad-band operation by removal of the drain line dummy load and dual-gate cascode gain cell arrangement.

UHF 대역 수동형 RFID 태그 Analog Front-end 분석 및 설계

We investigated the design trade-off in the development of UHF-band RFID tag for increased reading range. Using the quality factors of the tag antenna and tag chip as design parameters, the effects of the quality factors on the turn-on voltage of the tag chip and the backscattered power from the tag were examined. The design equations from the analysis indicate two regions of good impedances, one forproviding high tum-on voltage forthe tag chip, and the other resulting in increased radar cross section (RCS) for the antenna. An optimum quality factor which provides the best compromise of the two designs is provided. Based on the analysis, an example of the tag chip and tag antenna was designed, and the reading range test in anechoic chamber resulted in a detection distance of 5.2 m for-75 dBm reader sensitivity.
