        Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1)/carbon monoxide (CO) axis suppresses RANKL-induced osteoclastic differentiation by inhibiting redox-sensitive NF-κB activation

        Heme oxygenase (HO-1) catalyzes heme to carbon monoxide (CO), biliverdin/bilirubin, and iron and is known to prevent the pathogenesis of several human diseases. We assessed the beneficial effect of heme degradation products on osteoclastogenesis induced by receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL). Treatment of RAW264.7 cells with CORM-2 (a CO donor) and bilirubin, but not with iron, decreased RANKLinduced osteoclastogenesis, with CORM-2 having a more potent anti-osteogenic effect. CORM-2 also inhibited RANKLinduced osteoclastogenesis and osteoclastic resorption activity in marrow-derived macrophages. Treatment with hemin, a HO-1 inducer, strongly inhibited RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis in wild-type macrophages, but was ineffective in HO-1<sup>+/- </sup>cells. CORM-2 reduced RANKL-induced NFATc1 expression by inhibiting IKK-dependent NF-κB activation and reactive oxygen species production. These results suggest that CO potently inhibits RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis by inhibiting redox-sensitive NF-κB-mediated NFATc1 expression. Our findings indicate that HO-1/CO can act as an antiresorption agent and reduce bone loss by blocking osteoclast differentiation. [BMB Reports 2017; 50(2): 103-108]

        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

      • 개에서 발생한 척수질환에 대한 추적조사(70예)

        This study was performed to evaluate the prevalence of spinal disorders in dogs, as well as their breed, age, gender and body weight distributions. Seventy cases of caine spinal disoreders presented in the period 2001 and 2006 were reviewed. The diagnosis was obtained by survey radiographs, myelogram, CSF analysis, CT and MRI. The most frequent breed was Maltese(15 cases), and followed by Yorkshire Terrier (10 cases), Pekingese (9 cases). Canine spinal disorders occurred from 7 month to 17 year old dog, mean age was 5.3±3.7 year-old. Canine spinal disorders occurred more often in females(59.7%) than males. Mean body weight was 5.87±7.02 kg. Degenerative (39 cases, 43.3%) and anomalous (24 cases, 26.7%) disorders were dominant in 90 specific disease distribution. This results can be a reference data for the further study.

      • P2P 기반 Mobile System 구현

        P2P network environments provide mobile users with direct data transmission and sharingfacilities and those environments can be classified into hybrid P2P network environments and pure P2P network environments according to the arbitration mechanism among the peers in the network. In pure P2P network environments, however, each peer directly connects to another peer and gets services without server intervention, and so, network isolation can occur when the mediating peer fails to work. In this paper, we propose a scheme for each peer to keep connection to other peers continuously by maintaining IP addresses of its neighbor peers and connecting to the peers when the mediating peer fails to work. Although the P2P application that uses our proposed framework should obtain one or more IP addresses of the neighbor peers manually, after instantiation, the application can do its job while maintaining connection to the network continuously and automatically. In order to improve these weaknesses, we introduce LBS(Location Based Service) and mobile P2P(Peer to Peer)service into the existing systems, then design and implement the enhanced system for mobile SFA using them. Through this improvement, our system makes it possible for customers or sales agents to quickly share various information and increases the efficiency of sales activity by facilitating the competition and cooperation among sales agents and reducing time-cost.

        圓周狀슬라이스의 오-븐건조법에 의한 함수율의 圓盤내 방사방향분포 추이 평가 (Ⅱ) : 주요 국산 침엽수재를 중심으로 For some of domestic softwoods

        본 연구는 주요 국산 침엽수재 원반에서 채취한 두께 3 ㎜의 圓周狀슬라이스를 오-븐에서 급속 건조하면서 각 원반내 함수율의 방사방향 분포추이를 조사하기 위하여 수행하였다. 소나무의 경우 건조가 진행됨에 따라 변재부는 매우 급속한 건조속도로 함수율이 감소한 반면, 심재부는 건조속도가 느려 오히려 생재함수율이 높은 변재부가 심재부보다 먼저 섬유포화점에 도달하였으나, 이러한 분포상태가 장시간 지속되지는 않았다. 낙엽송의 경우 변재부의 생재함수율이 심재부보다 약 3배 가량 높은 분포를 보였으며, 이러한 수분경사 패턴은 평균함수율 약 20%일때 까지 지속되었다. 은행나무의 경우 변재영역 내에서는 매우 고른 생재함수율 분포를 보였으며, 건조가 진행되면서도 어느 정도의 진폭은 존재하였지만 비교적 균일한 함수율 분포를 보였다. 삼나무의 경우 심재부는 생재함수율이 매우 낮아 건조 초기부터 수축이 개시되지만 높은 함수율을 나타내고 있는 변재부에 의해 수축이 억제되므로써 심재영역 또는 이행재 영역에 인장응력이 형성될 것으로 판단된다. 편백나무 변재의 생재함수율은 심재보다 훨씬 낮아 침엽수재의 일반적인 함수율 분포와는 정반대의 분포를 나타내었으며, 이러한 함수율 분포패턴은 평균함수율 약 21%까지도 지속되었다. 측백나무의 경우 변재부의 생재함수율이 심재부보다 약 2배 정도 더 높은 분포를 보였으나, 건조가 진행되면서 이러한 분포는 빠른 속도로 약화되었다. This study was carried out to investigate a radial distribution of moisture contents (MCs) within a log cross section (LC) during ovendrying of 3 mm-thick circumferential slices cut from several domestic softwoods LCs. For Korean red pine, drying rate of sapwood slices during oven-drying represented much higher values than that of heartwood slices, and so sapwood with higher green MC early reached below fiber saturation point (FSP) rather than heartwood did. However, this distribution of moistures did not last for long duration. For Japanese larch, green MC of sapwood was approximately three times higher than that of heartwood. This similar distribution in MC was lasted until about 20% average MC. The MC was around uniform throughout the sapwood of Ginkgo when green and during oven-drying, although it was somewhat fluctuated. For Japanese cedar, the heartwood with so low moistures around FSP would begin to shrink from the beginning stage of drying, but the sapwood above hygroscopic MC prevents the heartwood from shrinking, and consequently, the heartwood or the transition wood goes into tension stress. The results for Japanese cypress showed that the green MCs of the sapwoods were much lower than those for heartwoods, and then this trend was continued until about 20% in average MC. For Chinese thuja, the green MCs of sapwoods were about 2 times as high as those of heartwood, hut this along the radial gradient in MC rapidly hecame gentle during oven-drying.

      • W-CDMA 단말기 수신 시스템에서 요구하는 최소성능 분석 및 설계에 관한 연구

        본 논문에서는 W-CDMA단말기 표준안에서 요구하는 최소 성능을 분석하고, 현재 상용화되어 있는 부품 들을 사용하여 W-CDMA수신 시스템을 설계 및 제작하였다. 표준안의 테스트 조건들로부터 수신 시스템의 최대 잡음지수와 ⅡP3를 도출하였으며, 인접채널에 대한 선택도 및 프론트-엔드 단의 최소 성능을 결정하였다. 제작에 앞서 ADS를 이용하여 성능검증을 하였으며, 모두 분석된 최소성능을 만족하였다. 끝으로 W-CDMA수신 시스템 을 헤테르다인 구조로 RF 단에서 IF 단까지 제작하였으며, 측정을 하였다. 따라서 본 논문이 W-CDMA 단말기를 제작함에 있어 이론적인 설계 기준이 될 것으로 여겨진다. In this paper, we have analyzed minimum performance required for W-CDMA mobile-phone from standard and implemented the receiver for W-CDMA mobile-phone. We have derived the noise figure and IIP3 of receiver and determined the selectivity about adjacent channel and minimum performance for front-end stage. Before the implementation, we have verified the performance using ADS simulator. In conclusion, we have implemented the receiver for W-CDMA using the heterodyne architecture and performed measurement. Therefore, this paper will give a guideline for design of the W-CDMA mobile-phone.

      • 자동차차체 및 부품제조업 산업장의 작업환경실태에 관한 조사 연구

        Objectives: For the purpose of preparing the fundamental data and control the working environment and assessing the status of working environmental in manufacturing industry of bodies for motor car and of parts. Methods and Materials: Accessories for motor car and its engines the auther measured the noise level, concentration of dust, heavymetals, organic solvents, chemicals to 99 industries(24 working processes) form Feb. 2000 to Oec. 2000. Results: The results were as follows : 1. Mean noise level cutting, grinding, pressing, foundries and shot-blast was exceeded to threshold limit value(TLV) of noise. 2. Mean concentration of total dust was not exceeded to TLV. 3. Mean concentration of Mn in welding process and Pb in drying, welding, fabricating, rolling was exceeded to TLV. 4. Mean concentration for chemicals and organic solvents were not exceeded to TLV. 5. Mean concentration of dust and heavymetals were statistical significant difference between with local ventilation system and without local ventilation system. Conclusion: Above results, author suggest to prepare more passively control to working environment where exceeded the TLV.

        골격선 Ⅲ급 부정교합 환자의 양악수술시 수술전 예측치와 수술후 실측치 차이에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study was to find out and evaluate discrepancies between exact and prediction values in ClassⅢsurgical patients. 26 patients(male 12, female 14) who were diagnosed as skeletal ClassⅢ and experienced presurgical orthodontic treatment and orthognathic surgery au Y university dental hospital were selected for this study. Lateral cephalograms were analyzed at prediction(T₁),immediately after surgery(T₂), 1 years after surgery(T₃),and specified the landmark as coodinates of X and Y axes. The samples were divided into 2 groups depending on the rotation point of maxilla(A point vs Incisal Edge). The statistical tools was SAS program and the statistical significance was tested. The results were as follows: 1. Changes of hard tissue points (T₁- T₂) in X corrdinates of ANS, A and in y coordinates of Me, Gn, Pg, B,Ii were statistically significant. 2. Change of soft tissue points (T₁- T₂) in X and y corrdinates of Pn,Sn,STA,Ls,Li were statistically significant. 3. Statistically significant changes in maxillary surgery rotated at A point were in X corrdinates of LS,Li and in y corrdinates of Me, Gn, Pg, B,Ii, Gn' and in x,y corrdinates of Pn,Sn,STA. 4. Statistically significant changes in maxillary surgery rotated at Incisal edge were in x corrdinates of ANS,A, Pn, Sn and in y corrdinates of Me, Gn, Pg, B,Ii,Is,Ls,Li,Gn' and in x,y corrdinates of STA. 5. There were significant differences in Is, Pns,Pn compared between A point group and incisal edge rotation group. 6. The maxillary plane angle showed significant difference at T₂- T₃(p<0.05), and occlusal planes of maxilla and mandible did not show significant change after surgery. As followed above results, the changes between prediction and exact measurements were considered separately at all landmarks and relapse amount according to surgery were also condsidered to achieve more resonable surgical results.

      • 열산화 공정의 3차원적 산화층 성장 특성 분석과 시뮬레이션에 관한 연구

        Three-dimensional simulator for theremal oxidation process is developed. The simulator is consisted of two individual module, one is analytic-model module and the other is numerical-model module. Thus, the prediction of LOCOS shape is possible by both numerical and analytical approach. The analytic-model used simple complementary-error function guarantees fast calculation in prediction of multi-dimensional oxidation process. The numerical-model which is based on boundary element method(BEM), has a good accuracy and suitable for various process conditions. The utility of models and simulator developed in this work is demonstrated by using it to predict not only traditional shape of LOCOS but also process effects in small geometry.

        甘豆湯 전탕액과 구성약물이 배양심근세포 박동수에 미치는 영향

        To test the protective effect of herbal medicine on myocardial damage against adriamycin-induced myocardiotoxicity, cytotoxicity of adriamycin was examined using MTT assay and protective effect of herbal medicine in the presence of water extract of Gamdu-tang, Gamigamdu-tang, or single constituents of these prescriptions was examined using counting of beating rate. The results of these experiments were obtained as follows : Adriamycin resulted in a decrease in viability and beating rate in cultured myocardial cells. Gamdu-tang water extract shows effects of protection from the cardiocyte toxicityinduced by adriamycin treatment such as increases beating rate. Gamigamdu-tang water extract shows the similar protective evvect as shown in gamdu-tang treatment on the decreasing of beating rate induced by adriamycin. Radix Glycyrrhizae, Semen Glycine, and Folium Phyllostachyos water extract shows a significant effect of protection for cardiotoxicity induced by adriamycin in cultured myocardial cells. These results show that adriamycin elicits toxic effects in cultured myocardial cells derived from neonatal mouse, and suggest teat water extract of gamdu-tang, gamigamdu-tang, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Semen Glycine, or Folium Phyllostachyos is very effective in the prevention of adriamycin-induced cardiotoxicity/
