        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

        레미콘 타설 작업 중 발생한 피부 궤양 1례

        The case was described of a 43 year old male who developed burns of the both shins as a result of handling wet cement. After wet cement was spilled into the rubber boots he was wearing, he experienced painful erythema of both lower legs. Several weeks later, medical examination revealed dirty and granulated ulceration of the both shins. The largest ulcer, about 18 by 10 centimeters, was located on the anterior aspect of left lower leg. We concluded that this skin problem resulted from the extreme alkalinity of calcium hydroxide in wet cement, combined with the effects of pressure and occlusion against the skin.

        Polycythemia vera is one of the myeloproliferative diseases, and as such, is an example of clonal hematopoiesis. The progeny of a single, abnormal, hematopoietic stem cell gain a grwoth advantage over their normal counterparts resulting in overproduction of red cells generally accompanied by overproduction of granulocytes and platelets as well. There are a variety of nonspecific symptoms at onset related to the increased red cell mass and hematocrit accompanied by the more specific manifestations of pruhtis, erythromelalgia, and hepatic, portal, and mesenteric vein thrombosis. Splenomegaly and hypertension are common. Thrombosis and leukemia are frequent complication in polycythemia vera and are associated with severa organ damage and a high mortality. We report here the case of occurrence of myocardial and cerebral infarction in a patient with polycythemia vera.

        레니텍^(�) 정(말레인산 에날라프릴, 10mg)에 대한 에나레이스 정의 생물학적 동등성

        The purpose of present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two enalapril maleate tablets, Renitec^(™) (MSD Korea Ltd.) and Enalace ^(™) (Welfide Korea Ltd.), according to the guidelines of Korea Food Drug Administration (KFDA). Twenty-four normal male volunteers, 22.33±2.55 year in age and 66.54±8.30 ㎏ in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized 2×2 cross-over study was employed. After two tablets containint 10 ㎎ of enal-april maleate per tablet wre orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and concentrations of enalapril in plasma were determined using LC-MS-MS. Pharmacokinetic parameters such as AUC_(t), C_(max) and T_(max) were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters using logarithmically transformed AUC_(t) and C_(max) untransformed T_(max). There were no sequence effects between two formulations in these parameters. The 90% confidence intervals for the log transfored data were acceptance range of log0.8 to log1.25(e.g., log1.02∼log1.14 and log1.03∼log1.19 for AUC_(t) and C_(max), respectively). The major parameters, AUC_(t) and C_(max), met the criteria of KDFA for bioequivalence indicating that Enalace^(™) tablet is bioequivalent to Renitec^(™) tablet.

        CFRP로 보강된 콘크리트 보의 온도 변화에 따른 영향 분석

        In this study, the behavior characteristics of specimen strengthened with CFRP plate were analyzed according to the change of temperature. CFRP plate itself has a good resistance at the high temperature, but epoxy used as a adhesive is lost its bonding strength at the relatively low temperature. Therefore, this study carries out experiment on the beams slot-bonded with CFRP plates in order to maintain the successful bonding strength of epoxy at high temperature. It is presented that the range of glass transition temperature is 60~80℃ and RC beams slot-bonded with CFRP plate shows more increasing resistance and failure load than that of interface bonded at the high temperature.

        Pilomatricoma was histopathologically diagnosed in a 2.5-year-old male Alaskan malamute. The patient was referred to Chungnam National University, Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital with solitary, firm and well-circumscribed mass at shoulder. Grossly, the mass was dome shaped to tumor like and 10 x 8 x 5㎝ in size. Some lesions had gritty or bony consistency and was chalky when sectioned Histopathologic feature included mumerous clusters of tightly arranged, basaloid cells with evenly distributed chromatin and ghost cells were characterized by a central unstained zone. The ghost cells often become calcified and osseous metaplasia was also present.

      • 천연항균성 물질을 이용한 Vibrio vulnificus의 살균 및 독소생성 억제효과

        생선회용 해산물에 오염되어, 생식한 경우 발생되는 패혈병의 원인균주인 Vibrio vulnificus의 생육 및 독성생성을 억제할 목적으로 천연 항균제인 Grapefruit종자추출물(GPSE)을 이용하여 그 항균효과를 검토하였다. In vitro 시험결과, Vibrio vulnificus에 대한 GFSE의 생육최소저해농도는 50~100 ppm 정도이었으며, Vibrio vulnificus 균체세포틀 100 ppm 농도의 GFSE 용액으로 처리하고 전자현미경 촬영시료로 조제하여 촬영한 후, 미생물형태을 무처리대조구와 비교, 검토한 결과, GFSE 처리로 세포막 기능이 파괴되어 세포내용물이 균체외부로 유출되어 균체의 생육이 억제되고 균체내부가 빈 ghost 형태의 균체수가 증대되어 GFSE의 항균효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 한편, 생선회용 해산물에 GFSE를 근육주사하고 Vibrio vulnificus를 접종한 수조내에서 사육하여 채취한 어육부를 마쇄하여 일정량씩을 표준사료에 첨가해서 통닭용 병아리를 실험동물로 하여 사양실험을 실시한 결과. 체중증가율, 단백질이용효율, 혈청내 효소활성, 혈청의 주요성분함량 등에 있어서, GFSE 처리수조내에서 사육한 해산물을 첨가한 시료시험구의 경우, 무첨가사료처리구와 비교할 때 뚜렷한 차이를 목격할 수 없었으며, GFSE 첨가에 따른 실험동물의 성장저해 또는 독성현상을 유발하지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 아울러, 각 처리구에서 사양한 해산물의 어육부에 오염된 Vibrio vulnificus의 균수를 측정한 결과, 250ppm 이상의 GFSE 처리구에서는 Vibrio vulnificus를 전혀 검출할 수 없었다. To prevent food-poisoning outbreaks by Vibrio vulnificus the antimicrobial efficacy of grapefruit seed extract (GFSE) was examined. Minimal inhibitory concentration (in vitro) for the microorganism was found to be 50~100 ppm. Transmission electron micrographs of Vibrio vulnificus showed the biocidal action of this natural antimicrobial agent would be related to specific respiratory effect coupled with the destruction of permeable function of microbial cell membrane. After Anguilla japonia GFSE-injected to the body was incubated in the seawater contaminated by Vibrio vulnficus the fish meats were taken up, mixed with control diet and used as a diet in the feeding experiment. In this experiment the effect of GFSE treated with fish muscle on body weight protein efficiency ratio, serum enzymes and serum blood component of broiler chicks was investigated. It is proved from this study that there is neither Vibriosis nor toxicity associated with GFSE itself and fish meats treated with it when it is injected to the fish body at a level of 250 ppm or less.

      • 면역학적 특성에 따른 yeast cytochrome c의 구조에 관한 연구

        The antiserum against yeast cytochrome c and horse heart cytochrome c was reacted immunologically with those from various species. The results were as followings; 1. The antiserum against horse heart cytochrome c was reacted immunologically with heart cytochrome c of horse, cow, rabbit, mouse, chicken, pigeon, frog, tuna, and guanaco, and were not with yeast and neurospora cytochrome c. 2. However, antiserum against yeast cytochrome c was only reacted immunologically with yeast cytochrome c, and was not mammals and vertebrates horse, cow, rabbit, mouse, chicken, pigeon, frog, tuna, guanaco, even neurospora 3. CNBr-digested peptides of horse heart cytochrome c were obtained 5 peaks, Ⅰ(1-80), Ⅱ(1-65), Ⅲ(66-104), Ⅳ(81-104), Ⅴ(66-80), and other peptide (1-50). Among them peptides Ⅰ and Ⅱ were weakly reacted immunologically with antiserum against horse heart cytochrome c. CNBr-digested peptides of horse heart cytochrome c were not reacted with antiserum against yeast cytochrome c. 4. From the above, the immunologically positive cross reaction was thought to be related with Ω loop D.

      • 유한요소법을 이용한 판 구조물의 진동인텐시티 해석

        구조물의 진동인텐시티를 파악하면 진동에너지 전달경로와 소산기구 및 주된 기지원의 위치 등을 규명할 수 있어 구조물 진동의 효율적 저감 대책을 수립할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 선박, 해양구조물 등과 같은 대형 복잡한 구조물의 진동인텐시티를 유한요소법으로 해석할 경우 적정한 모텔링 기법을 마련하고자 평판과 보강판에 대해 유한요소 모텔링을 달리 하면서 진동인텐시티 해석을 수행하고, 그 결과를 고전적 근사해법인 assumed mode method에 의한 결과와 비교·검토하였다. 이로부터 유한요법을 이용하여 판 구조물의 진동인텐시티 크기 및 방향을 정확하게 산정하기 위해서는 고유진동 또는 강제진동 해석의 경우보다 세밀한 유한요소 모텔링이 요구되지만 진동에너지 전달경로 규명 등을 위한 정서적 해석은 강제진동해석을 정확하게 할 수 있는 정도의 유한요소 모텔로도 가능함을 확인하였다. 아울러, 두께가 다른 평판 구조물, L-자형 판 구조물 및 3차원 box-girder에 대한 진동인텔시티 해석을 수행하여 다양한 판 구조물에 있어서 진동에너지의 전달 현상을 고찰하였다. The interest in evaluation of structural intensity arises for practical reasons, because net energy flow distribution offers information of energy transmission path, positions of sources, and sinks of vibration energy. In this paper, structural intensity analysis of plate structures using finite element method(FEM), which can be applied for more complex structures, is carried out. The purpose of this analysis is to evaluate the relative accuracy according to mesh fineness. The structural intensity of unstiffened and stiffened plates varying their mesh fineness is analyzed and the results are compared with those obtained by the assumed mode method. As results, the proper mesh size in qualitative/ quantitative structural intrnsity analysis of plate structures is proposed. In addition, the propagation phenomenon of vibration energy is investigated for the thickness-varying flat plate, L-type plate, and box-girder structures.

      • 저속 음성 코덱을 위한 효율적인 LSF 양자화기 설계

        본 논문은 LPC계수의 효율적인 양자화기에 대한 연구로서, LSF 계수의 프레임간 높은 상관도와 예측 에러 신호의 기하학적 성질을 이용한 predictive pyramid vector quantization(PPVQ) 방식을 제안한다. LSF 계수의 예측을 위해 weighted distortion measure를 이용하여 설계한 4차 moving average(MA) 예측기틀 사용하였고, Laplacian 분포를 가지는 예측 에러 신호의 효율적인 양자화를 위해 pyramid VQ(PVQ)를 이용하였다. PPVQ는 적은 계산량으로 23 bits/frame에서 transparent한 성능을 가진다. 또한 PPVQ는 계산량이 적으며 코드북 저장을 위한 메모리를 전혀 필요치 않는다. In this paper, the predictive pyramid VQ(PPVQ) is proposed to quantize LSF parameters. The properties of the LSF parameters, whose prediction error signal is Laplacian and interframe correlation is high, are exploited. To predict the LSF parameters, 4th order moving average (MA) predictor is used, and to quantize the prediction error signal, the pyramid VQ (PVQ) is exploited. It is verified that the performance of PPVQ has the transparent quality at 23 bits/frame. PPVQ requires low complexity and does not need any memories for the codebook storage.
