        A retrospective analysis was performed with 14 cases of canine urolithiasis examined at Laboratory of Clinical Pathology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Chungnam National University in the period between January 2005 and November 2005. The female (8 cases) had most occurrence about 14 cases. The Shih-tzu (8 cases), Poodle (4 cases) had higher incidences than other breeds. Canine urolithiasis occurred from 1 year 3 months to 7 years 6 months, but the most prevalence age was 3 years. The major mineral component of calculi was calcium oxalate (64.28%) and struvite(21.44%).

        만성적인 외이염, 종양 등에 의한 이도의 폐색, 그리고 신경증상을 보이는 외이염과 중이염과의 발생관계를 충남대학교 부속동물병원에 내원한 3증례를 대상으로 조사하였다. 증례1은 10세령의 수컷 시츄견으로 지역동물병원에서 2-3년동안 외이염 치료를 받았으며, 지속적인 삼출몰과 소양감으로 내원하였다. 양측 외이도는 협착되어 있었으며, CT검사를 통해 고실내부의 염증을 확인하였다. 증례2는 8세령의 중성화한 수컷 코카스파니엘견으로 지역동물병원에서 3년간 외이염의 치료를 받았으나 농성분비물과 소양감이 지속되어 내원하였다. 귀 내시경 검사에서 우측 이도에 종괴가 관찰되었고, CT검사상에서 우측고실내에 연부조직 밀도의 물질이 차 있는 것이 확인되어 TECA와 LBO를 실시하였다. 증례3은 11세령의 수컷 실키테리어견으로 실신과 머리기울임의 증상으로 내원하였다. 귀 내시경 검사에서 양측에 갈색의 종괴로 인하여 외이도가 폐색된 것이 확인되었으며, CT검사로 양측 이도의 연부조직 밀도와 우측고실의 염증이 확인되었다. 3증례 모두 중이염을 진달할 수 있었으며, 치료로는 TECA와 LBO를 실시하였다.

      • 충남대학교 부속 동물병원에 내원한 8 마리의 개 모낭충증에 대한 후향적 연구

        For restrospective study of canine demodicosis in eight cases diagnosed at Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University between July 2002 and September 2005, incidences of breed, age, sex and season, distributions of clinical form and lesion and treatments protocol were compared. All of 8 dogs were pure breeds and an incidence of the short haired breeds or the dog with short hair clipped was high. It showed an incidence of 6~12 months of age was higher (75%) than above 12 months. Although there was no test for statistical differences on incidences of sex and season, the female had a much higher incidence than do male and incidences of spring and summer were higher than that of autumn or winter. On clinical form, many cases of generalized demodicosis were found and a distribution of juvenile-onset form was higher than that of adult-onset form. For the treatment protocols, an efficacy of ivermectin used orally was good (75%), but the dog with ivermectin sensitivity might be treated with amitraz shampoo or moxidectin topical solution. A therapeutic action on generalized demodicosis can be good by controling a secondary bacterial infection and underlying diseases and relapses must be prevented using continuous a skin scraping test.

      • 고양이, 돼지 및 오리의 망막에 존재하는 S-100 단백질의 분포에 대한 면역화학적 연구

        소의 뇌에서 처음으로 분리된 S-100 protein이 각 동물 망막에 존재하는 상태를 규명하기 위하여 S-100 protein antiserum을 이용하여 고양이,돼지, 오리의 망막을 면역화학적 방법으로 처리하여 그 분포상태를 조사하였던 바 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 고양이, 돼지, 오리의 망막에 분포하는 S-100 protein의 분포부위와 그 정도가 동물에 따라 서로 달랐다. 2. 고양이와 돼지에서는 각신경세포층 및 각 망상층에 모두 존재하였으나 오리에서는 각신경세포만 존재 하였다. 3. 각 동물 망막에 존재하는 S-100 protein의 분포를 규명하는 것은 앞으로 각 동물의 망막연구에 필요한 각 층들을 구별 하는데 좋은 지침이 될 수 있다.

      • Localization of S-100 Protein in the Salivary Glands of Rat, Cat and Human

        소의 뇌에서 최초로 분리된 칼슘 결합 S-100 단백의 동물별 또는 장기별 분포 부위와 그 농도의 차이를 규명하기 위하여 S-100 단백 항혈청을 흰쥐, 고양이, 사람의 대타액선에 면역조직화학적 방법으로 처리하여 연구하였던 바 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 대타액선에 분포하는 S-100 단백의 분포 부위와 그 농도는 동물과 타액선의 종류에 따라 차이가 있었다. 2. 이하선의 선조관은 흰쥐, 고양이, 사람 모두에서 S-100 단백 항혈청에 의해 뚜렷이 염색되었고 사람에서는 선포 주위에 수상돌기양 세포도 염색되었다. 3. 악하선은 흰쥐에서는 점액선 선포, 고양이는 반대로 장액선 선포가 약하게 염색되었으나 사람의 선포에서는 양선포 모두에서 염색성을 관찰할 수 없었다. 4. 설하선의 선조관 상피는 각 동물 모두 염색되었으며 고양이에서는 수상돌기양세포도 염색되었고 사람에서는 점액선포는 염색되나 장액선포의 염색성은 없었다.

      • Comparative pharmacokinetics of ceftiofur sodium for two different formulation forms after single intramuscular injection in calves

        To assess the comparative pharmacokinetic profiles of two different formulations of ceftiofur sodium, and to develop a new liquid chromatography/mass spectrometric (LC/MS) method for the quantification of ceftiofur in bovine serum. An open, randomized, two-way crossover trial with a one-week wash out period in 4 healthy male Holstein calves was carried out. The two formulations of ceftiofur sodium used were Excell Instable Suspension ® (Dae Han New Pharm, Co., Ltd., Korea) as a test product and Naxcel® (Dong Bang. Co., Ltd., Korea) as a reference product. Above two drugs were intramuscularly administered with 1 mg as ceftiofur per kg body weight. After dosing, serial blood samples were collected for a period of 24hr. Serum harvested from blood was analyzed for ceftiofur by a new LC/Ms method. The limit of detection of ceftiofur was 0.5 ng/mL: recovery and precision were satisfied with the criteriain the Guideline of Residual Analysis of Veterinary Drugs of NVRQS (Anyang. Korea). Various pharmacokinetic parameters, including C_(max), T_(max) and AUC_(0-∞) and T_(1/2) were determined from plasma concentrations for both formulations. Significant difference in pharmacokinetic parameters was observed between the two formulations of ceftiofur sodium. Pharmacokinetic parameters showed the difference between Excell Instable Suspension' and Naxcel®. AUC_(0-∞). C_(max), T_(max) of Excell Instable Suspension' was higher than those of Naxcel®.

      • 한국 재래 우 및 산양 위장관의 somatostatin cell에 대한 면역조직화학적 분포

        The relative frequency and distribution of somatoatatin immunoreactive cells were investigated by the immunohistochemical method in the gastrointestinal tract of the Korean native cattle and goat. The results obtained were as follows: In the Korean native cattle, somatoststin cells were a few in the pyloric and duodenal region and rarely seen in fundic region, jejunum, ileum, cecum, proximal colon, central coil, distal colon and rectum. In the Korean native goat, somatostatin cells were the most numerous in the pyloric region and the next in the fundic region. And they were a few in the duodenum, not detected in the cecum and sparse in the jejunum, ileum, proximal colon, central coil, distal colon and rectum.

      • 오골계, 토종계 및 산란계의 卵黃, 卵白 및 卵殼중 無機質 含量에 관한 硏究

        This study was to assayed 12 trace minerals of Ca, P, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, Zn, Al and B components of Korean native ogol, Korean native fowls and laying hen's egg yolk, albumen and egg shell by with Inductively Coupled Argon Plasma(ICAP). The results summarized as follows: 1. The levels of P, K, Mg, Na components of Korean native ogol and Korean native fowl's egg yolk and albumen were high components than laying hens. 2. The levels of Ca, P, Fe, Na, Zn components of Korean native fowl's egg yolk were higher than Korean native ogol and laying hens. Particularly the levels of Ca, Na components showed signicantly high. But, the levels of Cu components of Korean native ogol's egg yolk was higher than Korean native fowl's and laying hens. 3. The levels of Ca, P, Mg components of Korean native fowl's albumen were high components. And the level of Cu, Fe, K, Na components of Korean native ogol's albumen were very high. 4. The levels of Ca, P, Na, P, K constituents of Korean native ogol and Korean native fowl's egg shall were high.

      • 국내분리 porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome(PRRS) virus의 특성에 관한 연구

        The Korean isolates of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrom(PRRS) virus, KPRRSV-1 and KPRRSV-2, were characterized on the aspects of sensitivity on physicochemical treatment, typing of nucleic acid, hemagglutinating activity, replication in cultured cells and morphology in electron microscopy. The isolates were labile to ether or chloroform, acid(pH 3.0) or alkali(pH 8.0), and heating(56℃, 30min). The viruses showed no haemagglutinating activity, and inhibition of replication in the medium containing 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine. Virus replication was more active in porcine alveolar macrophage(PAM) as compared with that in MARC-145 cell line, showing the maximum titer of 10^4.6TCID_50/㎖ at 5 days post-exposure(pe). Cytopathic effects(CPE) were observed more evidently in the PAM cells than in MARC-145 cell line. In electron microscopy, observation for the isolates showed oval or spherical types of virions, surrounded by a thin membrane-like envelope. The virions were from 45 to 86nm in diameter containing the cores of 35∼50nm in size

      • 충청지역 사육 돼지의 호흡기 및 소화기 병변으로부터 분리된 병원세균의 약제 감수성

        During the past two years(1999-2000), the antimicrobial susceptibility tests for the major pathogenic bacteria isolated from the respiratory or digestive organs of the diseased pigs in Chungchong area have been carried out. Total of 88 strains in seven species were isolated from the respiratory lesions of the diseased pigs during the periods, and the major isolates were in order of P. multocida(27.3%), Staphylococcus spp.(20.4%), Streptococcus spp.(15.9%), E. coli(12.5%), B. bronchiseptica(11.4%), Haemophilus spp.(10.2%) and A. pleuroneumoniae(2.3%). From the fecal specimens of the pigs with diarrhoea, total of 146 strains in five species were isolated in order of E. coli(59.6%), Salmonella spp.(17.8%), Campylobacter spp.(14.4%), Streptococcus spp.(5.5%) and Clostridium spp.(2.7%). The isolates were tested the susceptibility for 30 kinds of antibiotics. Among the isolates from the swine repiratory lesions, P. multocida revealed over 71% of susceptibility to ciprofloxacin(CIP), enrofloxacin(EF), tylosine(TL) and norfloxacin(NOR). B. bronchiseptica showed over 70% susceptibility to CIP, EF, linco-spectin(LS) and NOR, and Haemophilus spp. over 78% of susceptibility to AN, CIP, EF and NOR. The isolates of Streptococcus spp. revealed over 80% susceptibility to CIP and EF, and Staphylococcus spp. over 78% of high susceptibility to amikacin(AN), cephalosporin(CP) and CIP. .In general, most of isolates were highly resistant to ampicillin(AM), bacitracin(B), ceftiofer(CT), chlorampenicol(C), colistin(CL), erythromycin(E), nalidixic acid(NA), novobiocin(NB), oxacillin(OX), penicillin G(P), polymyxin B(PB) and vancomycin(VA). Of the isolates from the pigs with diarrhoea, over 76% of E. coli isolates showed the high susceptibility to AN, LS and N. Salmonella spp. revealed over 71% of susceptibility to CT, CIP, EF, LS and NOR, and Campylobacter spp., over 76% of susceptibility to CT ,CIP, EF, GM, LS and TL. Higher susceptibility were observed CIP, LS, NOR and TL with Streptococcus spp. and AN, CIP, EF and LS with Clostridium spp.. Most of the isolates showed the higher resistance to B, CL, L, N, NB, OX, P, PB Te and VA. The MIC range of the major isolates for AN, CIP, NOR, LS FM and GM showing the relatively high sensitivity were measured. Compared with other drugs, CIP and LS showed the lower MIC of ≤0.06∼128 ㎍/㎖ and ≤0.06∼≥512 ㎍/㎖, respectively.
