      • 송화분이 고지방 식이 섭취 흰쥐의 혈청과 간장에 미치는 영향

        6주간 고지방식이를 섭취한 흰쥐에 있어 송화분과 탈지 송화분이 혈청과 간장에서의 지방 축적과 대사에 미치는 효과를 관찰하였다. 혈청에서의 total lipid, total cholesterol 농도는 고지방 식이군에 비해서 탈지 송화분과 송화분 투여군이 유의적으로 감소하였다. 혈청에서의 triglyceride 농도는 탈지 송화분과 송화분 투여군이 고지방 식이군과 비교했을 때 뚜렷한 감소를 보였으며, 이는 정상군과 비슷한 농도를 나타내었다. 혈당농도는 송화분, 탈지 송화분 투여군에서 유의성 있게 감소하였다. 간장을 조직학적으로 관찰한 결과, 고지방식이로 인한 조직의 지방 침착은 송화분 투여군에서 다소 억제함을 보였다. 이상의 결과를 미루어 볼 때 송화분은 동맥경화증 및 순환기계 질환의 예방과 치료에 효과적일 것으로 사료된다. Effect of pine pollen and defatted pine pollen on lipid accumulation and metabolism in serum and liver were investigated with rats fed high fat-supplemented diets for 6 weeks. Concentrations of total lipid and total cholesterol in serum significantly decreased in the experimental groups(treated with pine pollen and defatted pine pollen) compared with the control group. Concentration of triglyceride in serum was remarkably lower than that of control group. This was similar to that of normal group. Concentration of glucose in serum was significantly lower in the experimental group. It was observed from photographs of hepatic tissue in rats that pine pollen inhibits the lipid accumulation induced by high fat diets.

      • 길경 Saponin 이 고지방식이를 한 흰쥐의 혈청, 간장 및 분변 지질 함량에 미치는 영향

        6주간 고지방식이를 섭취한 흰주에 있어서 길경 saponin이 지방 축적 억제와 대사에 미치는 영향을 검토하고자 혈청과 간장 및 분변 중 지방 성분을 생화학적으로 분석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 혈청 및 간장중의 총지질, 총콜레스테롤 및 중성지방 함량은 길경 saponin군이 대조군에 비하여 유의한 감소를 보였다. 2. 분변 중 총지질 및 총콜레스테롤 함량은 대조군과 비교할 때 길경 saponin군이 다소 배설이 증가되었으나, 유의성은 인정되지 않았다. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Platycodi radix saponin(PRS) on the reduction of lipid status in rats fed on high fat diet for 6 weeks after which lipid contents were measured in serum, liver and feces. The results obtained from this study are as follows; That the levels of total lipid, total cholesterol and triglyceride in serum and liver were significantly lower in the PRS group as compared with the control group. The contents of total lipid and total cholesterol excreted in the feces were tended to be slightly increase in PRS group compared to the control group, which were not significant.

        항균성 동치미액의 첨가에 의한 냉면국물 중의 Listeria monocytogenes 및 Escherichia coli O157:H7 생육억제

        동치미액은 전통적으로 냉면국물로 이용되어왔다. 냉면국물의 미생물 오염문제를 해결하기 위하여 항균활성이 높은 김치 젖산균 Lactobacillus homohiochii B21과 Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides C16을 스타터로 혼합사용하여 동치미액을 제조하고, 이를 냉면국물에 100%, 50%, 10% 및 0% 첨가하여 20℃ 및 10℃에서 보관할 때에 동치미액의 항균력으로 인하여 의도적으로 첨가한 Listeria monocytogenes와 Escherichia coli O157:H7의 증식이 억제되는 정도를 조사하였다. 동치미액 100%인 냉면국물은 20℃에서 보관할 때에 Listeria monocytogenes는 8시간만에, Escherichia coli O157:H7는 40시간만이 10^6CFU/ml에서 10^0CFU/ml로 각각 급격히 사멸하였고, 10℃에서 보관할 때에도 시간경과에 따라 생균수가 급격히 감소하였으나 감소속도는 20℃에서 보관할 때보다 느렸다. 동치미액을 50% 첨가한 육수에서도 Listeria monocytogenes와 Escherichia coli O157:H7는 시간경과에 따라 급격히 감소하였으며, 감소속도는 동치미액 100%일 경우보다 느렸다. 동치미액을 10% 첨가한 육수는 20℃에서 보관할 때는 초기에 Listeria monocytogenes 및 Escherichia coli O157:H7의 균수증가가 약간 있었으나 동치미액 무첨가에 비하여 현저히 억제되었으며, 16시간 이후부터는 균수가 서서히 감소하였다. 동치미액을 첨가하지 않은 육수는 20℃에서 보관할 때는 초기부터 Listeria monocytogenes 및 Escherichia coli O157:H7의 균수증가가 급격히 이루어졌으며, 10℃에서 보관할 때는 24시간 이후부터 서서히 증가하였다. Listeria monocytogenes 및 Escherichia coli O157:H7에 대한 본 동치미액의 항균활성은 후자의 미생물보다 전자에 대하여 더욱 강하게 나타났다. 본 연구의 동치미액을 육수에 50% 첨가하여 냉면국물을 제조한다면 보관중의 미생물 오염문제 해결에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다. Juice of Dongchimi, a Korean traditional vegetable food fermented with lactic acid bacteria has been traditionary used as broth for Naengmyon, a Korean cold noodles with broth. This study was carried out to demonstrate the growth inhibition of two food born pathogens, Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli O157:H7, in Naengmyon-broth containing Dongchimi-juice fermented with high antibacterial lactic acid bacteria, Lactobacillus homohiochii B21 and Leuconostoc mesenteroides C16. Naengmyon-broths were made with beef broth and Dongchimi-juice fermented with lactic acid bacteria, and the changes in viable cell counts of the inoculated pathogens in Naengmyon-broths were investigated during storage at 20℃ and 10℃. In Naengmyon-broth of 100% Dongchimi-juice stored at 20℃, the numbers of Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli O157:H7 were rapidly decreased from 10^6CFU/ml to 10^0CFU/ml in 8 hours and 40 hours, respectively. In Naengmyon-broth containing 50% Dongchimi-juice, their numbers were also rapidly decreased, though the decreasing rates were not so fast as those in 100% Dongchimi-juice. In Naengmyon-broth containing 10% Dongchimi-juice, the growths of the two pathogens were markedly inhibited, compared with those in 100% beef broth, though some growths were occurred in early phase. But in Naengmyon-broth of 100% beef broth, their growths were very fast from early. Antibacterial activity of the Dongchimi-juice was more distinct at 20℃ than at 10℃, and was more active against Listeria monocytogenes than against Escherichia coli O157:H7.

        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        자매에서 발생한 중증 마이코플라즈마 폐렴에서 스테로이드 치료

        Numerous evidences support the pathogenesis that M. pneumonias pneumonia is associated with cell-mediat-ed immune reaction. We report 2 cases of severe M. pneumoniae pneumonia in previously healthy sisters, who were both admitted during an epidemic of M. pneumoniae pneumonia. The elder sister, who was 16 years old, was admitted with M. pneumoniae pneumonia. She showed no response to treatment with clarithroycin and levo-floxacin, and eventually progressed to severe ARDS, requiring mechanical ventilation. After treatment with hydrocortisone (200 mg/day), there were rapid improvements in clinical manifestations and chest radiographic findings. The younger sister, who was 14 years old, was admitted 10 days later, Presenting with fever but no pneumonic lesions on chest radiograph. Just like her sister, the infection showed no response to clarithromycin. Fever persisted and pneumonic consolidation with mild pleural effusion was noticed in the left lower lobe on the 5th hospital-day. After treatment with oral prednisolone (1 mg/kg), she showed rapid defervescence and on the 8th hospital day, no pneumonic lesions were detectable on chest radiograph. Given the fact that the pathogenesis of pneumonia and extrapulmonary manifestations in M. pneumoniae infection is immune-mediated, an immuno-suppressive therapy would be validated for selected patients with M. pneumoniae infections.

        Impact of Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin on Mercury Absorption Using an in Vitro Digestion with Human Intestinal Cell Model

        The effects of sodium copper chlorophyllin (SCC) on bioaccessibility and uptake of mercury from fish were investigated using an in vitro digestion coupled with a Caco-2 cell. Fish along with SCC was subjected to a simulated in vitro digestion, which simulates both the gastric and small intestinal phase in vivo. Mercury bioaccessibility, the amount of mercury released from fish to aqueous phase following a digestion, was measured. Various amounts of SCC (0.1-25 mg) significantly reduced mercury bioaccessibility in a dose dependent manner by 49-89% compared to the negative control (fish without SCC) (p<0.05). Mercury bioaccessibility in varying molar ratios of mercury to positive control, 2,3-dimercapto-1-propane sulfonate (DMPS) was between 24 and 52%. Mercury uptake by Caco-2 cells from test media containing aqueous phase following in vitro digestion was measured after 6 hr incubation at 37℃. Cellular mercury uptake with increasing amount of SCC ranged from 0.352 to 0.052 μg mercury/mg protein, while those in DMPS treatment were between 0.14 and 0.27 μg mercury/mg protein. Our study suggests that SCC can reduce mercury absorption following fish consumption and may be efficient as a synthetic chelating agent for long term chronic mercury exposure in fish eating populations.
