We report a case of tsutsugamushi disease in a 26 year-old pregnant woman who was treated with azithromycin. Her gestation period was 27 weeks and she admitted with fever, rash, and eschar on the right shoulder. Currently recommended medications for the treatment of scrub typhus are doxycycline or chloramphenicol. But, these drugs are class D drugs according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Fetal Risk Summary, so they couldn't be used to treat pregnant women. Recently, a few case reports suggested that azithromycin, a relatively new macrolide antibiotic, was effective and safe for the treatment of scrub typhus in pregnant women. And, there is no evidence that azithromycin causes harmful effects to the developing fetus or to children. On the basis of current in vivo test that confirms the effectiveness of azithromycin, it may be the drug of choice for the treatment of scrub typhus in pregnant women and children. 密閉式물 交換太陽 熱集熱乾燥製置를 利用하여 紅蔘을 乾燥할때의 集熱效率, 乾燥效率. 乾燥特性 및 製品의 品質을 各各 調査하였다. 乾燥其間은 太陽熱集熱製置를 利用한 것이 慣行法보다 3分의 1程度를 더 短 할 수 있었다. 乾燥其間中集熱機의 最大效率은 14.42% 最低效率은 4.73%였고 乾燥效率은 集熱製置를 利用한 것이 28.34%, 對照區가 13.45%로서 純粹乾燥效率은 14.89%이었다. 紅蔘의 乾燥率曲線은 減率乾燥期만을 나타내었으며, 이 때의 式은 Y=50.7023t.-014138 이었다. 乾燥紅蔘의 色度는 慣行法과 比較하여 더 높았으며, diphenylpicryl hydrazyl 遇元能도 같은 傾向을 보였다. A closed solar collector drying system by water exchange was evaluated for the drying of ginseng. The thermal efficiency of solar collector, drying efficiency, drying characteristics and product quality were investigated. The drying period was reduced by one-thirds in comparison with typical method. The maximum and minimum thermal efficiency of the solar collector during drying period were 14.42%, and 4.73%, respectively. The drying efficiency of solar collector and control system showed 28.34%, and 13.45%, respectively: net drying efficiency being 14.8%. The drying rate curve of red ginseng showed only falling rate period, and its equation was Y=50.7023t.^(-0.4138) The brown color intensity of red ginseng was higher in solar collector drying system than in typical method, and reductivity by diphenyl picryl hydrazil solution in red ginseng extract showed similar result to brown color intensity.

Code V was used to make a plan for collimator lens with aspherical surface in the present study. The acquired optical design data were applied for ultra-precision machining. The optimum properties were determined to find ways to compensate the tool positioning error allowance during the ultra-precision machining. In ultra-precision aspheric machining, figure tolerance corrected by tool positioning error be improved by compensation cycle number.

Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.
Multiple Shoots Regeneration and In vitro Bulblet Formation from Garlic Callus

The leaf segments of garlic (Allium sativum L.) were cultured in vitro and determined optimal concentration of plant growth regulators and sugars for callus induction, multiple shoots regeneration and in vitro bulblet formation. Highest yield of callus was observed in the leaf segment culture on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/L 2,4-D, 30 g/L sucrose and 8 g/L agar. Regeneration rate of multiple shoots from callus was high in the MS medium supplemented with kinetin 3.0 + NAA 3.0 mg/L or SA 1.0 + NAA 3.0 mg/L, containing 30 g/L sucrose. High rate of bulblet formation was observed as the concentration of jasmonic acid increased from 0.5 to 2.0 mg/L in medium, whereas addition of gibberellic acid significantly suppressed bulblet formation. The rate of in vitro bulbing was as high as $96\%$ in MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L jasmonic acid and 120 g/l sucrose after two month culture at $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ under 16 hours day light.

<P>Traditional herbal formulas made from Scutellariae Radix (SR), the root of Scutellaria baicalensis, have previously been used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, such as atherosclerosis. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of SR on low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation and inflammation in macrophages, which are early events in the development of atherosclerosis. High-performance liquid chromatography photo-diode array analysis was used to obtain a three-dimensional chromatogram of SR. The antioxidative effects of SR were evaluated by determining its scavenging activities against ABTS and DPPH radicals. The inhibitory effect of SR on LDL oxidation was examined using a thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance assay and a relative electrophoretic mobility assay. In addition, the anti-inflammatory effects of SR were evaluated in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 murine macrophage cells. The results showed that SR exhibited radical-scavenging activities in a dose-dependent manner; in addition, SR attenuated the Cu2+-induced oxidation of LDL as well as significantly inhibited nitric oxide (NO) production and inducible NO synthase (iNOS) expression in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. Furthermore, SR induced the protein expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) in RAW264.7 cells. In conclusion, the results of the present study demonstrated that SR decreased the oxidation of LDL and suppressed inflammatory responses in macrophages, which occurred at least in part via the induction of HO?1. These results therefore suggested that SR may be a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of atherosclerosis.</P>
WLAN System을 위한 U-slot 및 Short-pin 결합한 바람개비 모양의 이중대역(5.2/5.8GHz) 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나 설계 및 제작

본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11 기반의 WLAN(5.2/5.8GHz)대역에서 동작하는 바람개비 모양의 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나를 설계 및 제작하였다. 안테나의 크기는 17.4×17.4㎟ 이며 FR-4 기판을 사용하였다. 이동성을 위해 소형화하였고, 바람개비 패치 모양에 U-slot 및 Short-pin을 삽입하여 이중대역 공진특성 및 적절한 대역폭을 만족하도록 하였다. 또한 단일 양면기판을 사용하였고, 시뮬레이션설계는 바람개비 모양과 U-slot 및 Short-pin의 위치 변화, 패치길이를 최적화하여 제작 및 측정하였다. 제작한 안테나의 대역폭(Return loss<-10dB)은 5.2~5.8GHz대역에서 695MHz의 대역폭을 얻었다. H면과 E면 방사패턴의 3-dB 빔폭이 각각 81.13°, 85.43°로 넓은 빔폭을 얻었다. 또한 3.17~4.85dBi의 이득을 얻었다. In this paper, IEEE 802.11 based WLAN(5.2/5.8GHz) wideband Weathercock-shaped microstrip patch antenna was designed and manufactured. The antenna has a size of 17.4×17.4㎟ and utilized FR-4 board. The size was minimized for mobility, and Weathercock-shaped U-slot and short-pin was inserted to satisfy adequate bandwidth and double bandwidth resonance characteristics. In addition, the antenna incorporated single both-sided patch, and simulation design optimized the Weathercock-shaped, position of the U-slot and the short-pin, and the length of the patch for the measurement. The manufactured antenna achieved a bandwidth of 695MHz from 5.2~5.8GHz zone(Return loss<-10dB). Achieved a beam width of 81.13° and 85.43° for 3-dB beam width of H plane and Ep;ane radiation pattern, there was 3.17~4.85dBi gain.
