섭취빈도법을 이용한 성인의 Na 섭취량 조사에 관한 연구

This survey was conducted for 113 adults in Taegu area to investigate whether the habitual sodium intake can be easily measured by food frequency method. This study was also intended to determine the factors which influence on urinary sodium in adult. The results of this study are summerized as follows 1. Preference of the saltness of food was negatively correlated with salty degree of public restaurant(P<0.001) and positively correlated with frequency of using salt or soy sauce(P<0.001). 2. Perception of salty degree of public restaurant showed significantly negative correlation with frequency of using table salt or soy sauce(P<0.001). 3. Multiple regression analysis of variables showed that sodium intake was affected by frequency of soup consumption, frequency of using extra salt or soy sauce, preference of the saltness of food, frequency of stew consumption. 4. Sodium intake by food frequency method significantly correlate with urinary sodium When sodium intake by food method was remolded to Na index, sodium intake was highly correlated with Na Index. 5. Aa Type Ⅴ of Na Index were highest correlated urinary sodium as well as sodium intake, it is considered the appropriate method to measure usal sodium intake.

Major cardiovascular complications of diabetes are coronary atherosclerosis, diabetic dilated cardiomyopathy, autonomic neuropathy and those are major causes of morbidity and mortality in diabetic patients. Gated blood pool heart scan is noninvasive and useful method for evaluation of functional status of heart in diabetics. We evaluated 52 patients with diabetes and divided 3 groups. Group 1 were 11 patients without proteinuria or with proteinuria less than 550mng during 24 hours. Group 2 were 9 patients with proteinuria more than 550mg during 24 hours and group 3 were 32 patients with endstage renal diasese due to diabetes. We performed 99mTc-HSA cardiac gated blood pool scan and used left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), peak ejection rate(PEF) to indices of LV systolic function and peak filling rate(PER) to index of LV diastolic function. The results were follows : 1) LVEF, PER were significantly lower in diabetics with ESRD than diabetics without ESRD, but there were no significant difference between normal controls and diabetics without ESRD 2) PFR was significantly lower in diabetics than normal controls, but there were no significant differences in diabetics with or without nephropathy. 3) There were negative correlation between PER, PFR and duration of diabetes. On the basis of results, PFR is a LV functional index of GBPS which can disclose early change of LV dysfunction in patients with diabetes.

Learning effect has implication for the performance analysis for the LCD industry which is highly process oriented and capital intensive industry. In this study, we estimate the learning parameter in that industry and investigate the difference in learning across generations. Based on the estimated learning effect, we provide some implication for the question whether the leadership in the industry is sustainable or not.

Background : Serum osteocalcin is synthesized by osteoblast and has been shown to be sensitive indicator of bone turnover inpatients with various metabolic bone disease. In renal osteodystrophy, serum osteocalcin is elevated due to decreased renal clearance and elevated level of PTH. This study was done to evaluate the usefulness of serum osteocalcin as a marker of bone metabolism and the correlation with other biochemical markers of bone metabolism. Methods : We measured serum osteocalcin, calcium, phosphorus, ALP(alkaline phosphatase) and PTH(parathyroid hormone) in 37 patients with end stage renal disease on hemodialysis. Osteocalcin was determined by radioimmunoassay and PTH was determined by radioimmunometric assay. Results : 1) The mean level of serum osteocalcin in ESRD patients was 233.8± 218.2ng/ml which was significantly higher than that of controls(p<0.0001). 2) The mean level of serum PTH in ESRD patients was 40.5± 43.8pg/ml was significantly higher than that of controls(p<0.005). 3) There was a significant positive correlation between the level of serum PTH, ALP and the level of serum osteocalcin in ESRD patients. 4) By using multiple regression, PTH is most reliable factor that affect to elevated level of serum osteocalcin ( beta coefficient = 0.687, Sig T<0.05). Conclusion : Serum osteocalcin as a marker of bone metabolism in ESRD patients is more useful than other biochemical marker such as serum calcium, phosphorus, ALP and PTH is a most reliable factor that affect to elevated level of serum osteocalin.

Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

<P>GD2 ganglioside has been identified as a key determinant of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs). Here, we characterized GD2 ganglioside expression and its implications in umbilical cord blood-derived MSCs (UCB-MSCs). Using immune-selection analysis, we showed that both GD2-positive and GD2-negative UCB-MSCs expressed general stem cell markers and possessed mesodermal lineage differentiation potential. Although the fraction of GD2-expressing cells was lower in UCB-MSC than in BM-MSC populations, inhibition of GD2 synthesis in UCB-MSCs suppressed neuronal differentiation and down-regulated basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors, which are involved in early stage neuronal differentiation. In addition, the levels of bHLH factors in neuronally induced UCB-MSCs were significantly higher in GD2-positive than GD2-negative cells. Our data demonstrate that GD2 ganglioside expression is associated with regulation of bHLH factors and identify neurogenic-capable UCB-MSCs, providing new insights into the potential clinical applications of MSC-based therapy.</P>

<P>A perylene-based reactive mesogen (DAPDI) forming a lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal (LCLC) phase was newly designed and synthesized for the fabrication of macroscopically oriented and patterned thin film polarizer (TFP) on the flexible polymer substrates. The anisotropic optical property and molecular self-assembly of DAPDI were investigated by the combination of microscopic, scattering and spectroscopic techniques. The main driving forces of molecular self-assembly were the face-to-face pi-pi intermolecular interaction among aromatic cores and the nanophase separation between hydrophilic ionic groups and hydrophobic aromatic cores. Degree of polarization for the macroscopically oriented and photopolymerized DAPDI TFP was estimated to be 99.81% at the lambda(max) = 491 nm. After mechanically shearing the DAPDI LCLC aqueous solution on the flexible polymer substrates, we successfully fabricated the patterned DAPDI TFP by etching the unpolymerized regions selectively blocked by a photomask during the photopolymerization process. Chemical and mechanical stabilities were confirmed by the solvent and pencil hardness tests, and its surface morphology was further investigated by optical microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and three-dimensional surface nanoprofiler. The flexible and patterned DAPDI TFP with robust chemical and mechanical stabilities can be a stepping stone for the advanced flexible optoelectronic devices.</P>

Inhibition of an increase of osteoclasts has become the mostimportant treatment for osteoporosis. The CXCR4 antagonist, AMD3100, plays an important role in the mobilization ofosteoclast precursors within bone marrow (BM). However, theactual therapeutic impact of AMD3100 in osteoporosis has notyet been ascertained. Here we demonstrate the therapeuticeffect of AMD3100 in the treatment of ovariectomy-inducedosteoporosis in mice. We found that treatment with AMD3100resulted in direct induction of release of SDF-1 from BM toblood and mobilization of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells(HSPCs) in an osteoporosis model. AMD3100 prevented bonedensity loss after ovariectomy by mobilization of HSPCs, suggesting a therapeutic strategy to reduce the number ofosteoclasts on bone surfaces. These findings support thehypothesis that treatment with AMD3100 can result in efficientmobilization of HSPCs into blood through direct blockade ofthe SDF-1/CXCR4 interaction in BM and can be considered asa potential new therapeutic intervention for osteoporosis.
