        유경미,김세희,장정화,황인경,김경임,김성수,김영찬 한국조리과학회 2005 한국식품조리과학회지 Vol.21 No.1

In order to develop a dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) with natural food applications, the effects of dandelion leaves and roots powder content on the physical, textural and sensory properties of sulggidduk were examined. Dandelion powders of leaves and roots at 0, 1, 2 and 3% were added to the dandelion sulgidduk. In the dandelion roots powder in sulgidduk, the color intensity of L values and the values and moisture content decreased however, the sensory color intensity, dandelion flavor and overall acceptability increased with increasing the dandelion powder content. The sensory overall acceptability indicated the dandelion roots powder content at 3% had the highest overall and flavor scores. As the dandelion leaves content was increased, the moisture contents, lightness, adhesiveness and cohesiveness of sulggidduk decreased, while the sensory color intensity, sensory hardness, hardness of texture properties and dandelion flavor increased. The addition at 1% of the dandelion leaves powder content with the dandelion sulggidduk and the addition at 3% of the dandelion roots powder content with the dandelion sulggidduk showed the highest overall acceptability.

Elevated extracellular calcium ions promote proliferation and migration of mesenchymal stem cells via increasing osteopontin expression

        Lee, Mi Nam,Hwang, Hee-Su,Oh, Sin-Hye,Roshanzadeh, Amir,Kim, Jung-Woo,Song, Ju Han,Kim, Eung-Sam,Koh, Jeong-Tae Nature Publishing Group UK 2018 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.50 No.11

<▼1><P>Supplementation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) at sites of bone resorption is required for bone homeostasis because of the non-proliferation and short lifespan properties of the osteoblasts. Calcium ions (Ca2+) are released from the bone surfaces during osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. However, how elevated extracellular Ca2+ concentrations would alter MSCs behavior in the proximal sites of bone resorption is largely unknown. In this study, we investigated the effect of extracellular Ca2+ on MSCs phenotype depending on Ca2+ concentrations. We found that the elevated extracellular Ca2+ promoted cell proliferation and matrix mineralization of MSCs. In addition, MSCs induced the expression and secretion of osteopontin (OPN), which enhanced MSCs migration under the elevated extracellular Ca2+ conditions. We developed in vitro osteoclast-mediated bone resorption conditions using mouse calvaria bone slices and demonstrated Ca2+ is released from bone resorption surfaces. We also showed that the MSCs phenotype, including cell proliferation and migration, changed when the cells were treated with a bone resorption-conditioned medium. These findings suggest that the dynamic changes in Ca2+ concentrations in the microenvironments of bone remodeling surfaces modulate MSCs phenotype and thereby contribute to bone regeneration.</P></▼1><▼2><P><B>Bone formation: released calcium could stimulate stem cells</B></P><P>Studies with mouse cells and bone samples indicate how calcium ions released during the normal turnover of bone promote the supplementation of stem cells needed to make new bone during routine “remodeling” and regeneration after injury. Our bones are degraded and remodeled continuously, requiring the controlled supplement of stem cells that create bone-forming cells called osteoblasts. Jeong-Tae Koh and colleagues at Chonnam National University, Gwangju, South Korea, exposed the relevant stem cells to increased concentrations of external calcium ions. This promoted cell proliferation and migration that allow the cells to support new bone formation. The research suggests this effect on stem cells may be achieved by calcium ions released directly from bone as it is naturally degraded. The findings may help researchers develop new ways to encourage bone regeneration after injury and surgery.</P></▼2>

지혈제 오염이 콤포머의 전단결합강도에 미치는 영향

        허정무,곽주석,이황,이수종,임미경 大韓齒科保存學會 2002 Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics Vol.27 No.2

One of this latest concepts in bonding are "total etch", in which both enamel and dentin are etched with an acid to remove the smear layers, and "wet dentin" in which the dentin is not dry but left moist before application of the bonding primer. Ideally, the application of a bonding agent to tooth structure should be insensitive to minor contamination from oral fluids. Clinically, contaminations such as saliva, gingival fluid, blood and handpiece lubricant are often encountered by dentists during cavity preparation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of contamination by hemostatic agents on shear bond strength of compomer restorations. One hundred and ten extracted human maxillary and mandibular molar teeth were collected. The teeth were removed soft tissue remnant and debris and stored in physiologic solution until they were used. Small flat area on dentin of the buccal surface were wet ground serially with 400, 800 and 1200 abrasive papers on automatic polishing machine. The teeth were randomly divided into 11 groups. Each group was conditioned as follows: Group 1: Dentin surface was not etched and not contaminated by hemostatic agents. Group 2: Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Astringedent® (Ultradent product Inc., Utah, U.S.A.). Group 3: Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Bosmin®(Jeil Pharm, Korea).). Group 4: Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Epri-dent®(Epr Industries, NJ, U.S.A.). Group 5: Dentin surface was etched and not contaminated by hemostatic agents. Group 6: Dentin surface was etched had contaminated by Astringedent®. Group 7: Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Bosmin®. Group 8: Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Epri-dent®. Group 9: Dentin surface was contaminated by Astringedent®. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water and dried by compressed air. Group 10: Dentin surface was contaminated by Bosmin®. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water and dried by compressed air. Group 11: Dentin surface was contaminated by Epri-dent®. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water and dried by compressed air. After surface conditioning. F2000® was applicated on the conditoned dentin surface. The teeth thermocycled in distilled water at 5℃ and 55℃ for 1,000 cycles. The samples were placed on the binder with the bonded compomer-dentin interface paralled to the knife-edge shearing rod of the Universal Testing Machine(Zwick Z020, Zwick Co., Germany) running at a cross head speed of 1.0mm/min. Group 2 showed significant decrease in shear bond strength compared with group 1 and group 6 showed significant decrease in shear bond strength compared with group 5. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between group 5 and group 9, 10 and 11.

      • All-Trans Retinoic Acid에 의한 HL-60 세포 분화유도중 H2B Histone, c-Myc 및 DNA Topoisomerase I 발현에 관한 연구

        임규,박정동,최병한,이용진,김계영,이명선,장은미,김삼용,권기량,곽상태,황병두 忠南大學校 癌共同硏究所 1998 癌共同硏究所 硏究誌 Vol.2 No.1

Effects of all-trans retinoic acid(retinoic acid) on DNA replication, H2B histone and DNA topoisopmerase I(Topo I) gene expression have been investigated in human promyelocytic leukemia cell line HL-60. DNA synthesis decreased at 24 hours after exposure of retinoic acid in the HL-60 cells. H2B histone mRNA rapidly reduced at 48 hours and Topo I and c-myc mRNA at 24 hours in retinoic acid-exposured HL-60 cells, respectively. The levels of c-myc, H2B histone and Topo I gene expression were reduced in proportion to the concentration of retinoic acid. The H2B histone mRNA in retinoic acid-exposured cells was elevated by cycloheximide treatment, while the level of Topo I mRNA was constant. These results suggest that regulations of H2B histone, c-myc and Topo I gene expression are different from one another, and repression of Topo I gene is closely correlated with c-myc gene during retinoic acid-induced differentiation of HL-60 cells.

Vol.27 No.2

Streptococcus mutans is known as the causative bacterial playing the most important role in forming plaque and it is being noticed as major causative bacteria of dental caries. Therefore, development of more effective, substantial and safe preventive agent against dental caries and periodontal disease is honestly required. The present study was designed to investigate the effect of chloroform extract(CE), n-butanol extract(BE),methanol extract(ME) and water extract(WE) of Caesalpinia on the growth, acid production, adhesion, and insoluble glucan synthesis of Streptococcus mutans. The CE, BE, ME and WE decreased the growth and acid production of S.mutans than that of control, especially, the ME was more effective than other extracts. The effect of CE, BE, ME and WE on the adherences to saliva-coated hydroxyapatite bead(S-HA) were evaluated. At the concentration of 2,000 ㎍/㎖, the CE showed 32% rate of bacterial adherence to S-HA, whereas, other extracts of the same concentration producedgreater than 50% rate. The CE and BE were significantly decreased the reduction rates of water insoluble glucan formation from sucrose by crude glucosyltransferase of S.mutans. Thus, the application of C. sappan can be considered a useful and a practical method for the prevention of dental caries.
