        This paper presents an object-oriented design for a video conversation system. This paper adapts the traditional client/server architecture and uses JMF for process media transmission. It starts from the analysis of functional/non-functional requirements and it documents the model of the system based on'4+1 View Model.' The manifest in this paper will be used usefully to design a system for cyber university or visual conference based audio/video media transmission.

      • 질편모충 항원분석을 위한 단백빌 용출방법의 비교

        The purification methods such as bead-beater destruction, trichloroacetic acid(TCA) precipitation and 3-[(3-cholamidopropyl) dimethylammonio]-1-propane sulfonate(CHAPS) solubilization of Trichomonas vaginalis antigens on sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE) and enzyme-linked immunoelectrotransfer blotting (EITB) were evaluated. Total TCA-precipitated proteins and CHAPS-solubilized extract of T. vaginalis possessed common protein bands whose molecular weights were at 28 kDa, 35 kDa, 40 kDa, 50 kDa, 60 kDa, 100 kDa, 120 kDa, 130 kDa, and 160 kDa, and bead-beater treated trichomonal proteins represented some different spectrum of protein bands from TCA- or CHAPS-treated ones in that they didn't show high M.W. protein bands(〉100 kDa) on SDS-PAGE. But similar antigenic bands with the molecular weights of 60 kDa, 110 kDa, 120 kDa and 140 kDa by EITB were identified in TCA-, CHAPS- and bead-beater treated proteins. In conclusion, TCA-precipitation and CHAPS-solubilization were more stable methods to analyse trichomonal proteins than extraction with bead-beater, and the result will be useful for antigen analysis of Trichomonas vaginalis to elucidate a mechanism of pathogenesis in host-parasite relationship.

        소양호의 어류군집 동태

        2001년 4월부터 2002년 9월까지 소양호의 어류군집 동태를 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 조사된 어류는 총 11과 38종이었다. 한국 고유종은 P. tenuicorpus, C. splendidus, S. gracilis majimae, S. japonicus coreanus, H. mylodon, G. brevibarba, M. yaluensis, M. longidorsalis, C. koreensis, C. rotundieaudata, S. microdorsalis, P. koreanus, L. andersoni, C. herzi, O. patycephala 등 15종(40.54%)이었다. 우점종은 Z. platypus(39.60%), H. olidus(39.47%), S. gracilis majimae(12.24%), S. japonics coreanus(2.11%), P. fulvidraco(1.48%), L. macrochirus(1.40%) 등이었다. 채집된 어종들의 생체량을 보면 Z. platypus가 19.48㎏, H. olidus로 8.75㎏, C.cuvieri 7.42㎏, L. maeroehirus 7.39㎏, H. labeo 6.85㎏의 순으로 나타났다. 소양호에서 확인된 도입종은 A. japonica, H. eigenmanni, H. olidus, P. altivelis, C. urotaenius, R. giurinus, T. brevispinis, C. carpio(Israeli type), c. euvieri, Onchorhynchus mykiss, L. macrochirus, M. salmoides, I. puntatus 등 13종이었다. 이 중 C. carpio(Israeli type), C. cuvieri, Onchorhynchus mykiss, L macrochirus, M. salmoides, I. puntatus는 국외종이며, A. japonica, H. eigenmanni, H. olidus, P. altivelis, C. urotaenius, R. giurinus, T. brevispinis 등은 국내 다른 하천ㅇ로부터 유입된 종이다. The dynamics of the fish community in Lake Soyang, Korea, was investigated from April 2001 to September 2002. During the surveyed period 38 species belonging 11 families were collected. There were 15 Korean endemic species 39.47%, including Pseudopungtungia tenuicorpus, Coreoleuciscus splendidus, Squalidus gracilis majimae, S. japonicus coreanus, Hemibarbus mylodon, Gobiobotia brevibarba, Microphysogobio yaluensis, Microphysogobio longidorsalis, Iksookimia koreensis, Iksookimia rotundicaudata, Silurus microdorsalis, Pseudobagrus koreanus, Liobagrus andersoni, Coreoperca herzi, and Odontobutis platycephala. Dominant species were Zacco platypus (39.60%), Hypomesus olidus (31.70%), Squalidus gracilis majimae (12.24%), Squalidus japonicus coreanus (2.11%), Pseudobagrus fulvidraco (1.48%) and Lepomis macrochirus (1.40%). The biomass of collected fishes were Zacco platypus (19.48 ㎏), Hypomes olidus (8.75 ㎏), Carassilus cuvieri (7.42 ㎏), Lepomis macrochirus (7.39 ㎏) and Hemibarbus labeo (6.85 ㎏). Of the 13 introduced fishes in Lake Soyang Cyprinus carpio (israeli type), Carassius cuvieri, Onchorhynchus mykiss, Lepomis macrochirus, Micropterus salmoides and Ictalurus puntatus were originated from foreign countries but Anguilla japonica, Hemiculter eigenmanni, Hypomesus olidus, Plecoglossus altivelis, Chaenogobius urotaenius, Rhinogobius giurinus. Thridentiger brevispinis were introduced from other native river systems.

        The research objective is segmenting outpatients for CRM in medical service. Using modified RFM(Recently, Frequency, Monetary) method based on frequency and profitability in the hospital, the data were analyzed with the data mining technique. The result can be summarized as follows : The outpatients were semented into the four groups:1) the loyal patient group, who have kept visiting until recently and giver high profitability, 2) potential loyal patient group, who give lower profitability but high frequency of use, 3) potential withdrawer patient group, who have lower frequecy of use but give high profitability and: 4) withdrawer patient group, who give low frequency of use and have not visited recently.

        침습성 아스페르길수스증 진단을 위항 갈락토만난 항원검사의 유용성 평가

        Background : Invasive aspergillosis (IA) is an important cause of morbidity and mortality among immunocompromised patients. However, 1A is difficult to diagnose, especially in the aforementioned patient group. Recently, galactomannan assay (GMA) using enzyme immunoassay has been introduced in Korea. We evaluated its diagnostic usefulness in the diagnosis of 1A and we analyzed the results according to the underlying diseases. Materials and Methods : All patients who underwent GMA during the period from October 2007 to June 2008 were evaluated retrospectively. According to the criteria of European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer/Mycoses Study Group, IA was classified into four clinical categories: proven', probable', possible', and 'non' IA. Patients with 'proven' and 'probable' IA were used as the reference standards for IA. GMA was performed using Platelia Aspergillus EIA (Bio-Rad, Hercules, CA, USA). Optical density index ≥0.5 was considered positive. Results : Of the 144 patients who underwent GMA, two patients were classificed as proven' IA and sixteen patients were probable' 1A. Overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of the assay were 50% (95% confidence interval [C195), 26-74%), 88% (C195, 81-93%), 38% (CI95, 19-59%), and 93% (CI95, 86-97%), respectively. Among the 99 patients with underlying hematologic diseases, GMA showed 67% (C195, 35-90%) sensitivity and 89% (C195, 80-94%) specificity, whereas in 45 patients with underlying diseases other than hematologic diseases, sensitivity and specificity of the assay were 17% (CI95, 0-64%) and 87% (CI95, 73-96%), respectively. Conclusions : GMA showed high specificity, irrespective of the patient population. However, sensitivity of GMA was low and the assay was less sensitive in patients with underlying diseases other than hematologic diseases than in patients with hematologic diseases.

      • Squalene Adjuvant를 이용한 단백질 항원의 세포성 면역반응 유도

        To investigate the role of adjuvant for cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) induction, squalene-based adjuvant was studied its capability eliciting to the induction of cellular immunity as well as humoral immunity to exogeneous proteins. Ovalbumin (OVA) was used as model proteins. It was demonstrated that antigen formulation consisted of metabolizable oil squalene mixed with Tween 80 and pluronic L121 (S/TJ121) could induced the antigen specific CTL responses and antibodies irrespective of immunization routes in mice. We also demonstrated that this antigen formulation was a inducer of CD8+, major histocompatibility complex(MHC) class I-restricted, and antigen-specific C;1'Ls. These data suggest that the squalene-based emulsion system is a potent adjuvant inducing cellular immunity as well as humoral immunity.

        필리핀 여행 후 발생한 쯔쯔가무시병 1예

        Infectious diseases imported from other countries have increased as more and more Koreans are going abroad for various purposes. Tsutsugamushi disease from other endemic area such as Southeast Asia is important, because it can occur in any season and eschar may be absent. We report a case of imported tsutsugamushi disease acquired in the Philippines. A patient presented with fever, headache, and maculopapular skin rash. However, eschar was absent. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for 56-kDa gene of Orientia tsutsugamushi using buffy coat was positive. Serum indirect immunofluorescent antibody assay was initially negative but became positive with a titer of 1:320 at follow-up, Sequencing analysis revealed the strain to be 100% identical to the TW73R strain identified in Taiwan. After the patient received doxycycline, body temperature normalized in 12 hours. Tsutsugamushi disease is one of the differential diagnoses that should be included for patients with fever who have recently returned from Southeast Asian countries. PCR for O. tsutsugamushi using patient's buffy coat was useful for early diagnosis.

        C형 및 S형 단백 결핍에 의한 하지 심부 정맥혈전증

        Purpose: Protein C and S deficiencies are frequently described as causes of the hypercoagulable states. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical features and prognosis of deep venous thrombosis associated with protein C and/or S deficiencies and to determine an adequate treatment modality for such cases. Method: A total of consecutive 42 patients with deep venous thrombosis of the lower extremity were seen in our hospital between September 2000 and August 2002. Hypercoagulability studies were done before systemic anticoagulation therapy, and the diagnosis of protein C and/or S deficiencies was confirmed if antigenic protein C and/or S levels were less than 60%. Result: Seven patients (16.7%) were diagnosed with deep venous thrombosis associated with protein C and/or S deficiencies. Of these, 5 patients with acute iliofemoral deep venous thrombosis were treated with catheter-directed thrombolysis therapy, and 2 with systemic anticoagulation therapy. There were no major complications or clinically detectable pulmonary emboli. Conclusion: Protein C and/or S deficiencies are one of the common causes of deep venous thrombosis. Considering that patients with deep venous thrombosis and protein C and/or S deficiencies should be treated with life-long anticoagulation for the prevention of recurrence, patients presenting with deep venous thrombosis without evidence of other risk factors should be evaluated for hypercoagulable states.
