A three-phase composite film with BaTiO3 and polypyrrole@polyimide (PPy@PI) core-shell nanoparticles embedded in a polyimide(PI) matrix was prepared by using a direct mixing and solution casting process. PPy@PI nanoparticles were used as the conductive filler which minimize the conducting path and provide space between each particle. Low loading level of PPy@PI nanoparticles in PI/BaTiO3 system enhanced the dielectric constant and suppressed the dielectric loss. The enhanced dielectric constant obtained for the three-phase composite film was found to be three times higher than that of the same system without PPy@PI. This is attributed to the synergistic enhancement of the ferroelectric ceramic filler (BaTiO3) and conductive filler (PPy) as well as the homogeneous dispersion. Such three-phase composite film is a potential material for embedded capacitors and can be fabricated easily into various shape due to its flexibility.
Taxonomy of the family Salpingidae (Insecta: Coleoptera: Tenebrionoidea) Leach in Korea

In this study, a taxonomic study of the Korean Salpingidae Leach is presented. Four species under the three genera are recognized. Genera and species Chilopeltis laevipennis (Marseul, 1876) and Salpingus depressifronsNikitsky & Belov, 1983 are reported for the first time in the Korean Peninsula. A key to the Korean Salpingidae species, habitus photographs, and line drawing of male genitalia of S. depressifrons are provided.

Three new species of the mycophagous aleocharine genus Gyrophaena Mannerheim are described in Korea. The types and paratypes of the new species are designated. Illustrations of the diagnostic characters and habitus photographs of new species are provided with a key to Korean species of Gyrophaena.

Existing studies of public service motivation(PSM) have largely used cross-sectional survey data, which can often be accompanied by problems such as endogeneity and common method bias. This study uses tenure, which reflects the long-term characteristics, as a key variable to overcome such problems. However, the tenure of civil servants may vary depending on point of career entry and affiliated organizations. Therefore, we tried to distinguish the effect of tenure through the different starting points of a public service career. The results of the analysis indicate that different career starting points lead to different effects of tenure on PSM. Specifically, it was found that for public officials who started at a lower rank in comparison to those who started at a higher rank, and those who started their career at the local level government level in comparison to those who started at the central level, tenure had a greater impact on PSM. This study shows that cumulative job experience through the period of public employment can affect PSM. This study also implies that in order to enhance the PSM of individual civil servants, it is necessary to introduce a policy that can make changes in the job experiences of those in the higher ranks and in the central government. 기존의 공공서비스동기(PSM) 연구는 주로 횡단면 설문자료를 통해 분석되었다. 이 경우, 내생성이나 동일방 법편의 등의 문제가 발생할 가능성이 크다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위해 시간적 특성을 반영하는 재직기간을 주요 변수로 활용한다. 다만, 공무원의 재직 시 경험은 입직계급과 소속기관에 따라 달라질 수있다는 점에서 입직경로를 통해 이러한 재직기간의 효과를 구분해보고자 하였다. 분석결과, 입직경로에 따라 재직기간이 길어질수록 PSM에 미치는 효과가 다른 것으로 확인되었다. 구체적으로, 5급으로 입직한 공무원 보다 6급 이하로 입직한 공무원이, 중앙부처로 입직한 공무원보다 지방자치단체로 입직한 공무원이 재직기간에 따른 PSM 향상효과가 더 큰 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구는 재직기간에 따라 누적된 직무경험이 PSM에 차별적인 영향을 줄 수 있다는 것을 보여주며, 이에 따라 개별 공무원의 PSM을 고양시키기 위해서는 기존의 상위직급이나, 중앙으로 입직한 공무원들의 직무경험에 변화를 줄 수 있는 정책의 도입이 필요할 것으로 판단 된다.
Microencapsulation of cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) toward flexible photonic applications

Cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) exhibit a photonic stop band due to their helical structure; a periodic modulation of ordinary and extraordinary refractive indices along the helical axis yields one-dimensional photonic band gap (PBG). And the unique optical properties of CLCs, such reflecting circularly polarized component of light, can be easily controlled by the concentration of chiral dopant with helical twisting power. However, the fluidity severely limits the ease of processing and structural stability, thereby restricting their flexible applications. One way to overcome the limitations is to encapsulate CLCs in microcontainers; microcapsules can be easily processed and reconfigured to construct photonic devices. In addition, CLCs confined in spherical microcapsule possess spherical symmetry, thereby providing rotationindependent optical properties. Here we have introduced several methods for CLC microencapsulation including interfacial polymerization, complex coacervation, and microfluidic system. And the optical properties of CLCs encapsulated in various polymer systems are investigated according to the temperature, concentration of chiral dopants and encapsulation methods.
