        The purpose of the study was to provide the basic materials of scientific educational program suitable to young children by showing the effects of life science teaching on young children's naturalist intelligence and scientific inquiring ability. Research issue 1. What are the effects of life science teaching on young children's naturalist intelligence? Research issue 2. What are the effects of life science teaching on young children's scientific inquiring ability? 2-1. What are the effects of life science teaching on the children's ability to predict of the children's scientific investigation? 2-2. What are the effects of life science teaching on the children's ability to observe of the children's scientific investigation? 2-3. What are the effects of life science teaching on the children's ability to classify of the children's scientific investigation? 2-4. What are the effects of life science teaching on the children's ability to measure of the children's scientific investigation? 2-5. What are the effects of life science teaching on the children's ability to discuss of the children's scientific investigation? The target groups of the study are a class of twelve children of 4 years old who are total 24 students of two different day care centers in Daejeon City. The children of the experimental group, A, in one daycare center have been instructed with the life science teaching for the science activity for 16 weeks, while the control group, B, in a different day care center, have been instructed the standard of child care process for the science activity. The measurement of young children's naturalist intelligence and scientific inquiring ability had been used 'the multiple intelligence test (PMIT-E) for preschoolers' and 'the testing instrument of scientific inquiring ability'. To know the difference of their naturalist intelligence between the experimental group and the control group, the research material collected through such a testing instrument had been verified the corresponding sample, t and to know the difference of their scientific inquiring ability, the significance had been verified through the application of ANCOVA. The crucial result on the study is as follows. Firstly, the children who were instructed with the life science teaching statistically significantly improved the young children's naturalist intelligence more than the children who were not instructed with the life science teaching. Therefore, life science teaching has a positive effect on improving young children's naturalist intelligence. Secondly, the result after the study is that the life science teaching has a considerable effect on scientific inquiring ability. The experimental child group experienced a significantly noticeable point increase statistically compared to that of the opposing group. Therefore, life science teaching has a positive effect on improving young children's scientific inquiring ability. Therefore, life science teaching has an effective class on young children's naturalist intelligence and scientific inquiring ability.

      • Combustion characteristics of gaseous inverse O<sub>2</sub>/H<sub>2</sub> coaxial jet flames in a single-element model combustor

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>To effectively design hydrogen (H<SUB>2</SUB>)/oxygen (O<SUB>2</SUB>) liquid rocket engines through understanding the combustion characteristics of H<SUB>2</SUB>/O<SUB>2</SUB> bipropellants, fundamental studies for the bipropellants in different phases are needed. This study is focused on the combustion characteristics of inverse gaseous O<SUB>2</SUB>/H<SUB>2</SUB> coaxial jet flames in a single-element model combustor as a preliminary step for succeeding studies of injection at different phases in the combustor, visualizing flame structure by direct imaging, OH<SUP>∗</SUP> chemiluminescence and OH planar laser-induced fluorescence. With increasing Reynolds number (Re), the frequency of occurrence of the local flame extinction increases and the length of the disconnected OH reaction zone is extended. The OH layer thickness increases downstream, while it is almost constant where the local flame extinction occurs and decreases with increasing Re due to the enhanced strain and scalar-dissipation rates. The excessive flame wrinkledness increases the local flame strain rate and results in the local flame extinction, exhibiting the tendency of increasing and then decreasing flame surface density with increasing Re. The probability density function of OH intensity quantifies the fluctuation intensity of OH radicals and the possibility of the local flame extinction. A useful database is provided for modeling the combustion of H<SUB>2</SUB>/O<SUB>2</SUB> bipropellants under different phases.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A useful database for modeling the H<SUB>2</SUB>/O<SUB>2</SUB> bipropellant combustion is provided. </LI> <LI> Local flame extinction frequently occurs at high Reynolds number (<I>Re</I>). </LI> <LI> OH probability density function indicates the possibility of local extinction. </LI> <LI> Flame surface density increases and then decreases with increasing <I>Re</I>. </LI> <LI> Strong burning of O<SUB>2</SUB>/H<SUB>2</SUB> causes laminar-like combustion near the injector lip. </LI> </UL> </P>

      • 췌장염에 의한 가성낭종내에 생긴 가성동맥류 : 1례 보고

        만성 췌장염의 합병증으로 생긴 가성동맥류는 드문질환으로, 반복적으로 다량의 출혈을 일으킬 수 있으며, 치료를 하지 않을 경우 사망율이 높기 때문에, 조기 진단과 치료가 필수적이다. 저자들은 38세 남자 환자에서 췌장염의 합병증으로 생긴 가성낭종내에서 발생한 가성동맥류 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. 가성 동맥류의 색혈류도플러상 낭종내에 양방향 흐름의 와류를 볼 수 있었다. Because of high morbidity and mortality, early detection and treatment of the pseudoaneurysm is needed. We report a case of pseudoaneurysm within pseudocyst from pancreatitis. Color-flow Doppler sonography shows bidirectional flow and turbulent arterial flow, within anechoic mass.

      • 전래놀이 동요를 활용한 집단 놀이가 유아의 대인문제 해결사고에 미치는 영향

        The object of this study is to provide base data of more effective utilization of traditional play songs through analyzing the effect of group activities using traditional play songs on young children's interpersonal problem thinking. For this purpose, we selected two kindergartens in Daejeon and prepared control and experimental groups with 31 of 4-5 year-olds in each group. For the experimental group, we had conducted group activities using traditional play song for 12 weeks. As a result, the experimental group's score of interpersonal problem thinking area was higher than that of control group. Therefore it is obvious that group activities using traditional play songs give positive effect to the thinking of alternative problem solving and prediction of consequence which are sub-capabilities of interpersonal problem thinking. In this study, we set problems and hypothesis as followings to investigate the effect of the group activities using traditional play songs on young child's thinking of alternative problem solving: 1. Do the activities using traditional play songs give effect to the capability of interpersonal problem solving of young child? 2. Do the activities using traditional play songs give effect to the thinking of alternative problem solving of young child? 2-1 There would be meaningful difference between two groups in thinking of alternative problem solving. 2-2 There would be meaningful difference between two groups in positive alternative solution of the problem. 3. Do the activities using traditional play songs give effect to the thinking of consequence prediction of young child? 3-1 There would be meaningful difference between two groups in the thinking of consequence prediction. 3-2 There would be meaningful difference between two groups in the method of consequence prediction.

      • 심한 낙타혹(Hump)의 형성을 동반한 제 2 형 막증식성 사구체신염(Dense Deposit Disease) 1예

        Dense deposit disease (DDD), known as type Ⅱ MPGN, is an uncommon form of glomerulonephritis. It is an acquired primary glomerular disease, characterised by electron microscopic evidence of a continous, dense membrane deposition replacing the lamina densa. There is associated alternative pathway complement activation and a C3 nephritic factor maybe present. Patients with dense deposit disease tend to be young at clincal onset and more commonly have persistent nephrotic syndrome, gross hematuria, and acute nephritis episode and persistent depression of the serum complement level. The prognosis of dense deposit disease is worse than that of typeⅠMPGN. We experienced a patient with dense deposit disease that presenting persistent nephrotic syndrome, gross hematuria and having subepithelial hump. It is a first report of dense deposit disease having subepithelial hump in Korea, therefore we report this case with the review of relevant literatures.

        Brassica 種들의 花뢰크기에 의한 小胞子 發育段階 및 胚發生 比較

        The purpose of this study is to search for the identifing method that could separate buds with embryogenic potential from collected buds for increasing the efficiency of embryogenesis by microspore culture in Brassica species. It was investigated developmental stage of microspore by bud-size and ratio of petal/anther length and compared to amount of embryogenesis through isolated microspore culture from the buds with late-uninucleate stage. In Brasica napus, Lisandra of spring type showed bud-size of 3.2~4.1mm which belongs to late-uninucleate stage as embryogenic microspores and their range of petal/ anther length ratio were 1/2~3/4. Hallayuchae of winter type rapeseed showed bud-size of 3.1~3.6mm which belongs to late-uninucleate stage as embryogenic microspores and their range of petal/anther length ratio were 1/3~1/2. Two genotypes of B juncea had the same petal/anther length ratio as range of 1/2~3/4 with embryogenic microspores but their bud-size were some difference as bud-size of Young-sanpohwanggyeja were 2.9~4.0mm and bud-size of Hwanggyeja were 2.9~4.1mm. Also, two genotypes of B. campestris had the same petal/anther length ratio as range of 2/3~3/4 with embryogenic microspores but bud-sizes were some difference as bud-size of Hyakusai were 2.9~3.4mm and bud-size of Sosongchae were 2.9~3.2mm. In B. oleracea, the petal/anther length ratio with embryogenic microspores according to bud-size were showed range of 1/2~2/3 in all of two genotypes and bud-size of Broccoli were 2.4~3.2mm and bud-size of Cauliflower were 2.9~3.7mm. In the embryo yield per 100,000 microspores by isolated microspore culture from the buds with embryogenic microspores, Young-sanpohwanggyeja of B. juncea were 47 embryos and Hwanggyeja of B. juncea were 23 embryos, B. campestris of Hyakusai were 367 and Sosongchae were 123, B. oleracea of Broccoli were 678 and Cauliflower were 562. However in B. napus was showed much differences by the growth habit, the spring type of Lisandra were producted 7,047 embryos of which higher about 9.2 times than those of winter type Hallayuchae.

      • 산소유리라디칼이 뇌조직 미크로좀분획의 Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase 활성도에 미치는 영향

        중추신경계의 혈관폐쇄 또는 충격손상에 의한 허혈병소에서 진행되는 병리적 변화에 산소유리라디칼이 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 시사되고 있다. 저자는 산소유리라디칼이 뇌조직에 미치는 영향 중 특히 신경세포 정지막전위 유지에 중요한 Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase의 활성도에 미치는 영향을 관찰하기 위하여 산틴산화효소 반응계와 뇌조직미크로좀을 이용하여 본 연구를 시행하였다. 미크로좀분획(microsomal fraction)을 산틴과 산틴산화효소와 함께 반응시켰을 때, 분획의 Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase의 활성도는 현저한 불활성화를 보인 반면, Mg<sup>++</sup>-ATPase의 활성도는 별로 영향을 받지 않았다. 이 불활성화는 산틴과 신틴산화효소 중 어느 한 물질이라도 반응계에 존재하지 않는 경우에는 나타나지 않았고, 두 물질이 같이 반응계에 존재할 때 나타났다. 산틴과 산틴산화효소의 반응에서 생성되는 산소유리라디칼들 중, 어떤 것이 Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase불활성화에 관계하고 있는가를 알아보기 위하여, 산수유리라디칼 각각에 대하여 제독작용을 가진 효소나 화학물질을 사용하여 불활성화의 저해유무를 관찰하였다. O<sup>-</sup><sub>2</sub>⋅의 제독효소인 superoxide dismutase, H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>의 제독효소인 catalase와 <sup>1</sup>O<sub>2</sub>의 제독물질인 1,4-diazabixyclo(2,2,2)octane을 각각 사용하였을 때, 이들 물질들이 농도에 비례하여 Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase의 불활성화가 저해되었다. 그러나 OH⋅의 제독물질인 mannitol은 뚜렷한 효과를 보이지 못했다. 이상의 결과는 산소유리라디칼들 중 O<sup>-</sup><sub>2</sub>⋅, H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> 및 <sup>1</sup>O<sub>2</sub>가 Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase의 불활성화에 관계하고 있고, OH⋅는 거의 관계하지 않는다는 것을 시사하여 주었다. 이로 미루어, 산소유리라디칼에 의한 뇌조직 Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase의 불활성화는 뇌 허혈병소에서 관찰되는 신경세로의 기능적 장해를 유발시키는 한 요인으로 사료되었다. The effects of xanthine-xanthine oxidase reaction on brain microsomal Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase activity were studied to see possible involvement of oxygen free radicals in pathologic change occurring in ischemic state of CNS accompanied by cerebral vascular occlusion or impact injury. When microsomal fraction was incubated with xanthine ana xanthine oxidase, Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase activity of the fraction was markedly inactivated (80% inactivation) whereas btssl Mg<sup>++</sup>-ATPase was much less sensitive (less than 10% inactivation) compared to that of Na<sup>+</sup>-K<sup>+</sup>-ATPase. The inactivation was observed only in the presence of both xanthine and xanthine oxidase, not either of them alone, and the extent of inactivation was dependent on the concentration of xanthine. In an attempt to determine which of the oxygen species was responsible for the inactivation, the ability of various scavengers to overcome the inactivation was tested. Superoxide dismutase, catalase and 1,4-diazabicyclo(2,2,2)octane were shown to reverse the inactivation of the ATPase in dose-dependent manner. In contrast, mannitol as well as other OH⋅quenchers were ineffective in limiting oxygen radical-induced inactivation. Thus OO<sup>-</sup><sub>2</sub>⋅, H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> and <sup>1</sup>O<sub>2</sub> were implicated to be mediators involved in the inactivation. Since oxygen radicals are suspected as being a cause of the peroxidative damaging process in train ischemia, the ATPase inactivation by oxygen radicals may be a possible contributing factor which gives rise to functional derangement of nerve cells observed in the pathologic process.
