        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        정신병적 증상이 동반된 기면병 1예

        Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy, sleep paralysis, hypnagogic hallucinations and disrupted nocturnal sleep. We report a patient with a diagnosis of schizophrenia who was subsequently diagnosed as narcolepsy. A case of a 22-year-old woman with concomitant narcolepsy and psychotic symptoms was discussed from a perspective of the diagnosis and therapeutic challenges, particularly on pharmcological treatment dealing with issues raised by their coexistence.

      • 배 유과 가공제품의 품질 특성 및 저장 중 생균수 변화

        To develop the functional pear fruitlet product, we prepared dried pear fruitlet and fermented pear fruitlet, respectively. Then we investigated their general characteristics, and viable cell number changes during the storage at room temperature. We also determined preference for their tastes. Dried pear fruitlet contained more ash and crude proteins as well as minerals than fermented pear fruitlet. However fermented pear fruitlet contained higher amount of edible fiber than dried pear fruitlet. Fungi were not detected from dried pear fruitlet during the storage experiment at room temperature. Numbers of bacteria from dried pear fruitlet were increased from 1.1☓105/g at the beginning to2.6☓106/g at the last day of experiment. When we determined change of fungi number during the storage of fermented pear fruitlet, we cannot detect fungi at the beginning but we detected 4.4☓102/g of fungi at the last day of storage experiment. Bacteria from fermented pear fruitlet were detected at around 1.0☓109/g during the storage periods. Preference for fermented pear fruitlet was superior to dried one.

      • 農家副業으로서의 畜産現況과 그 改善方案에 關한 硏究

        Recently, there have been much corncerns about the strategies which can reasonably increase farm income at the average farm level. In other words, as a result of third-term Five Year Economic Development Plan there was a remarkable gap between farm household and non-farm household incomes. Therefore, various policy tasks to eliminate this unbalanced income growth are currently being implemented. This study was carried out to identify the situation of livestock farming at general farm level, regarded as one of income generation strategies for the farm sector. Some results of the study can be summarized as follows: First of all, it was found that a group of farms which raise a small size of animals like Korean cattle, hog, and various poultry gave higher resource bases as compared with that of non-livestock farms. Secondly, it was also recognized that both farm and farm household income levels of small-scale livestock farms were higher than those of non-livestock farm group within the same region, specifically as much as approximately ₩200,000. Thirdly, it was known that the average size of animal raising per household in 0.9 head of cattle, 0.8 head of hog, and 34 lyers of poultry, respectively. To the end, according to the farm disposal practices of major by-products, only about 18 percent of total rice straws produced at individual farms was utilized for the animal raising, and about 45 percent of all the brans available at farms for the livestock enterprise. The rest of straw and brans in regarded as selling at farm level. In this respect, it may be recommended either to increase current size of animals or to expand number of livestock farms.

      • 생물변환 천연식용색소 생산공정기술 개발 : Ⅰ. 홍화 황색소의 안정성에 미치는 pH 및 온도의 영향 Ⅰ. Effect of pH and Temperature on the Stability of the Yellow Pigment from Carthamus tinctorious L.

        홍화로부터 열에 의한 안정성을 검토하였다. 황색소의 분해반응은 산성, 중성, 염기성 조건에서 UV/Vis spectral measurement에 의해 조사되었다. 시간변화에 다른 흡광도를 측정해 본 결과 온도가 상승함에 따라 황색소의 분해되는 정도가 점차적으로 증가하는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 40℃에서 황색소의 분해 반감기는 pH3.0, pH7.0, 그리고 pH12.0에서 각각 112.1, 39.3 과 25.3 시간이었다. 이것은 황색소가 pH3.0에서 비교적 더 안정함을 말한다. pH3.0, 7.0 그리고 12.0에서 황색소의 activation energy는 각각 519, 15.0 그리고 12.3 kJ/mol이었다 We investigated thermal stability of yellow pigment from Carthamus tinctorious L. Decomposition reactions of yellow pigment were monitored at acidic, neutral and alkaline conditions by UV/Vis spectral measurement. Decomposition of yellow pigment increased as temperature increased Decomposition half lives of yellow pigment at 40℃ were 112.1 39.3, and 25.3 hrs at pH 3.0 , pH 7.0, and pH 12.0, respectively, indicating that yellow pigment is more stable at pH 3.0. The activation energies of yellow pigment at pH 3.0, pH 7.0, and pH 12.0 were 51.9, 15.0, and 12. 3 kJ/mol, respectively.

        In order to screen the new β-lactam antibiotics for clinical use. we were compared MIC values of various β-lactam antibiotics. We also tested the influence of pH, inoculum size, stability of antibiotics in medium and some kinds of media on MIC value. As a result, cefotaxime, cefoperazone, piperacillin, cefamandole, cephaloridine, cephapirin, cefazolin, cephalothin, cephaioylycn were scored in antimicrobial activity of MIC data.

        Effects of Pilger Rolling and Heat Treatment on Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Ag-electroplated 304 Stainless Steel Tubes

        We introduce a cost-effective method that combines electroplating with metal cold working processes to manufacture compositetubes with robust corrosion resistance. First, a 3-step electroplating process was developed to form an adhesive anduniform Ag coating on the outer wall of a 304 stainless steel tube. The process consisted of a Ni-strike step for removing thepassivation layer of the initial 304 tube, Cu deposition for smoothing the surface by adding a buffer layer, and Ag deposition. To reinforce the interfacial adhesion between the electroplated layers and the 304 tube and increase the area of the Ag coating,a pilger rolling or pilger rolling + heat-treatment process was performed after the Ag electroplating process. Scanningelectron microscopy of the composite tubes after each process indicated that the as-deposited Ag coating changed fromhaving a rough to smooth surface after only pilger rolling and with additional heat treatment. Electron backscatter diffractionanalysis of the microstructures and textures of the tubes revealed that dynamic recrystallization occurred extensively duringpilger rolling, resulting in the formation of a relatively defect-free grain structure without heat treatment. Furthermore,electrochemical polarization curves determined that the Ag-coated composite tubes are superior to the uncoated 304 tubein terms of corrosion resistance under Cl−atmosphere, owing to the formation of a AgCl passivation layer during testing. Surface analysis of the composite tubes suggests that the properties of the AgCl passivation layer are related to the grainsize of the Ag coating and the density of plastic-deformation-induced defects.

      • 상관계수를 이용한 회전 동심원 레티클 탐색기의 반대응능력

        적외선 탐색기에 널리 사용되는 레티클 시스템은 시계(field of view ; FOV) 상에 존재하는 표적의 위치를 구하는 대표적인 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 동심원(concentric annular ring) 레티클 탐색기의 표적 추적 성능을 시뮬레이션 할 수 있는 효과적인 툴이 제안된다. 시계상에 섬광탄 등의 대응능력이 존재하는 경우, 표적에 대한 정확한 추적은 매우 어렵게 된다. 이러한 대응능력의 영향을 줄이기 위해 입력 신호와 기준 신호와의 상관 관계를 이용하는 반대응 기법이 제안된다. 구성된 툴 상에서 제안된 방법이 기존 방법에 비해 보다 효과적인 표적 추적 결과를 보임을 확인하였다. Reticle systems. which are widely used in infrared (IR) missile seekers, are considered to be the classical approach for estimating the position of a target in the field of view (FOV). This paper presents an effective simulation tool that gives tracking results of the concentric annular ring reticle seeker. Our simulation model provides tracking results in various cases, and is applicable to the study of the development of the advanced seekers. While false targets such as flares are presented in the FOV, simulation results show that the existing seeker cannot determine a precise target location. In order to decrease the susceptibility to countermeasures such as flares, we propose an efficient counter-countermeasure using the correlated relationship of modulated signals and the references. We have ascertained that the reticle seeker using our technique make more effective target tracking than previous seekers.

        Today, many people stay lot of time sitting on chair in their life. If a sitting posture is not correct, there is some trouble with the waist. And if it goes on long time, sometimes it cause the hurts of waist or the deformded spinal column. A crouched posture is an obstacle to breath and it give rise to drowsiness because the lack of oxygen. Sitting posture is a habit so people can't feel it oneself and look over some kind of risks. It analyzes a condition of muscles by measuring EMG of spinal both side of spinal-bones. It can have a right sitting posture by the analyzing that increasing of muscles tention in one or the other side of muscles when the posture inclines on one side or ahead.

      • Human Cytomegalovirus 감염시 UL47 promoter 활성의 분석과 Escherichia coli에서 발현되는 UL47 단백질의 분석

        In order to study of HCMV(human cytomegalovirus) UL47 promoter activity, we have used the transient transfection assay method. We cloned the -20∼-325bp region to be expected as UL47 promoter part into the indicator plasmid which includes the β-glucuronidase gene. In the transient promoter activation experiment, the promoter activity was increased up to 48-fold in the HCMV(AD169 strain) infected cells. This result indicates that the viral infection is necessary for the UL47 promoter activation occurred in only late times. In order to express UL47 protein in Escherichia coli, we have cloned the N-terminal part(+1∼+818) of UL47 open reading frame(ORF) into pET14b vector. After transformed the cloned DNA(pET14b-UL47N) into BL21(DE3)pLysS, we identified the UL47 protein was expressed by IPTG(isopropyl β-D-thiogalactopyranoside) induction.
