혈구삼화탕 투약 후 복부팽만이 호전된 기능성 소화불량 환자 증례보고

Objective: The aim of this case report was to describe the effect of Hyeolgusamhwa-tang (絜矩三和湯) on abdominal distension caused by Qi (氣脹) in a patient with functional dyspepsia. Methods: A female Korean patient was treated with Hyeolgusamhwa-tang and acupuncture for 14 days. We observed objective symptoms, such as bloating, nausea, belching, loss of appetite, and heartburn, and we also measured her abdominal circumference. Results: After treatment, her abdominal circumference was decreased from 87 cm to 83.5 cm, and her food intake was improved from the baseline. The other objective symptoms, like general weakness, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort, and heartburn, were improved or disappeared without any adverse events reported. However, we could not find any significant differences for some symptoms, such as nausea. Conclusions: This case suggests that Hyeolgusamhwa-tang and acupuncture therapy could be effective in reducing functional distension in patients diagnosed with distension caused by Qi (氣脹).

한약 및 침치료 후 피부습진의 SCORAD 점수를 호전시킨 성인 아토피성 피부염 환자 증례보고

This case reports the effect of herbal medicine and acupuncture therapy on the scoring atopic dermatitis (SCORAD) index for an adult atopic dermatitis patient. An adult male in his 30s with complaints of severe eczema on the whole body was diagnosed with heat toxin blazing exuberance pattern (熱毒內蘊) and treated with herbal medicine, including an orally-administrated decoction, externally-applied decoction, extracted powder capsule, and acupuncture for a total of 30 days. We observed skin symptoms, SCORAD index, follow-up photographs, and any adverse events. After treatment, SCORAD index decreased from 74.5 to 38.7 (51.9% from baseline). Skin symptoms such as redness, itching, and exudation were improved without any adverse events reported. This case suggests that herbal medicine and acupuncture therapy could be effective in improving eczema in adult atopic dermatitis patients.

■ Objectives This case is to report the effect of Ssanghap-tang on paresthesia of a subarachnoid hemorrhage patient. ■ Methods A male Korean patient was treated with Ssanghap-tang and acupuncture, moxibustion for total 30 days. We observed limbs numbness, circumferences, other symptoms such as weakness and any adverse event. ■ Results After treatment, numeric rating scale of limb numbness was improved to 5 from 8 at admission without any adverse event. However, we could not find any significant differences on hand circumference and limb weakness. ■ Conclusion This case suggests that Ssanghap-tang and acupuncture, moxibustion therapy could be effective in improving paresthesia of subarachnoid hemorrhage patient.

Authors report on the general features of postoperative central nervous system infection in patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures. The postoperative central nervous system infection was defined as 1) emergence of purulent material from any site that had been exposed to surgical field, and/or 2) development of meningitis during postoperative recovery period. The materials were obtained from 50 cases of postoperative central nervous system infection out of 1,232 cases of operations that had been performed in neurosurgical department of Seoul National University Hospital during the last three years. Various predisposing factors, associated problems, and therapeutic aspects are discussed. General features of hospital infection are also considered.
