Plant regeneration from callus of Iris odaesanensis Y. N. Lee native to Korea via organogenesis

Iris odaesanensis Y. N. Lee. is an important endangered and native plant belonging to the family Iridaceae in Korea. This study describes a method for rapid micropropagation of this species via from leaf, rhizome and root explants derived calli. Leaf, rhizome and root explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D) for callus induction. Rhizome explants yielded calli at a frequency of 72% when cultured at 1.0 mg/l 2,4-D. Calli were maintained at 1.0 mg/l 2,4-D. These calli were transferred to MS medium supplemented with 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mg/l 2,4-D in combination with 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 3.0 mg/l BA for adventitious shoot induction. The highest number of adventitious shoot (228.9 per petri-dish) were formed at 1.0 mg/l 2,4-D and 1.0 mg/l BA. WPM medium was the best to convert calli into plantlets, where up to 98.2% of calli were regenerated into plantlets. This in vitro propagation protocol should be useful for conservation of this endangered plant.

In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

This study was conducted to determine the optimum shape and dimension of plate predicting the sink age of power tiller in soft paddy field. Various size of disc and rectangular plates were tried at five different soil moisture content, and the resules are summarized as follows. 1. Linear relationship is recognized between contact pressure and sinkage of plates using log-log paper at higher soil moisture content, but the plate sinkage is affected by hard pan in case of the lower moisture soil conditions. 2. Concerning the value of soil deformation coefficient K, the variation of measured values due to shape and size of plate can be practically negligible for the rectangular plates which have 2.5, 5 and 10cm width and with 2 or 3 aspect ratio, and the disc plate which has 20cm diameter. The variation of the exponent of sinkage n, can be practically negligible for the rectangular plates which have 5, 10 and 15cm width, and disc plates which have 20 and 30cm diameters. 3. Relationship between the sinkage of some type of plate and that of power tiller was linear. The closest relationship were found between the sinkage of power tiller and plates for 2.5 and 5cm width rectangular plates regardless of aspect ratio and for the disc plates having 10 and 20cm diameters. 4. Consequently, the optimum plate shape and size for predicting the sinkage of power tiller in soft paddy field are found as the rectangular plates which have 5 and 10cm width and 2 or 3 aspect ratio, and the disc plates having 10 and 20cm diameter.

The purpose of this study is to Analyze the criteria of existing system and grasp the way of current implementation for the reconstruction and reuse projects. Confirm the new possibility of reforming developments through the comparative analysis between related matters and actual state of foreign cases. Suggest the reconstruction Plans by types and the reuse Plans in three areas The results of this study can be summarized as follows : The concrete plans for reconstruction projects by types were set up in the regulational aspect, functional aspect, and environmental aspect. The regulational and social devices for reuse planning were formulated : the strengthening of reconstruction criteria, the regulations defining of reuse planning, the publicity for better understandings of reuse, the development of high-quality human resources for reuse construction, the application of appeasement policies as a residential environment improvement, and so on. The adatable solutions in the aspects of dwelling unit, building block, and site planning were provided : the enlargement of unit space or area, the renovation of facade, the functional change for dwellings on the ground level, the open piping of circulation systems, the expansion of community facilities, the build up of spatial hierarchy, and lastly, the housing development set reuse planning forth as a promise.

Glucose-fatty acid cycle is very important because it explains that fatty acid influences glucose level. Glucose-fatty acid cycle is the key factor to understand how endurance training which aids fat oxidation and carbohydrate stored in skeletal muscle influence mitochondria level. However, it is not certain whether glucose-fatty acid cycle influences exercising skeletal muscle of human being. As an energy resource, training increases use of fatty acid, endurance ability, and oxidation of triglyceride. During high level training, catecholamine secretions and restraint of fatty acid use caused by insulin increases dramatically, this results in reduction of free fat acids and reunification of free fat acids into triglyceride. Training restrains insulin activity and reduces plasma acid density, however, elite athletes have high triglyceride-fatty acid cycle. Although enzyme's activities and mitochondira's density increase after training, it's not certain that enzyme's activities is major factor in restraint of fatty acid oxidation in exercising muscle cells. Stores of fat leads to increases of fat oxidation, performance and reduces use of carbohydrate, however, there is no absolute evidence to support these results.

인터넷 공간데이타 전자유통 시스템에 관한 연구 : A Study on the Internet Spatial Data Electronic Distribution System

최근에 WWW의 등장과 함께 인터넷 사용자가 폭발적으로 증가하고 웹 지리정보시스템의 필요성과 중요성이 크게 대두되어 인터넷을 통한 공간데이타 유통 환경을 구축하기 위하여 여러 기관 등에서 많은 기술개발 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 공간데이타를 인터넷상에서 접근하기 위해서는 WWW상에 공간데이타를 등록하고 필요로 하는 사람에게 판매할 수 있는 공간데이타 전자유통 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 WWW과 연동하는 공간데이타 전자유통 시스템을 구축하기 위한 효율적인 공간데이타 전주유통시스템의 모델을 설계하고 제시한다. 또한 시스템의 각 모듈에 대한 기능과 구현 방법을 제안한다. Recently, the advent of WWW increased the population of internet users and many institutions are carrying out technical development research to implement spatial data distribution environment via internet because importance of Web Geographic Information System(WGIS) is being increased highly. To be accessed WGIS data. we need Spatial Data Electronic Distribution System(SDEDS) which registers and sell spatial data in WWW. In this paper. we propose and design effective SDEDS to expel spatial data electronic distribution system which is connected WWW. Therefore. we show how to implement and functions of each module.

We report a case of lupus erythematosus profundus in a 16-year old male. He had multiple pea-nut to bean sized subcutaneous nodules with dark brownish colored overlying skin was present on the upper arm, trunk & other systemic disease. Histologically, deep dermis & subcutaneous layer had dense patch lymphocytic infiltration and homogenized hyaline fat necrosis. Direct immunofluorescene studies showed IgM and C?? deposit on the vessel wall. We treated him with chloroquine and corticosteroid.

In this paper the harmonics characteristics were analysed in industrial power systems using PTW(Power Tool Window). Some unknown input data, cable and transformer, were estimated by the approximation method. It is found that the high level harmonics are mainly caused by electric power conversion equipments used for rotating loads. Especially, it was observed that the maximum voltage waveform distortion rate appears at the low voltage bus for DC drive and the voltage and current waveforms are much irregular than those of the other loads.
