Combining ability and correlation coefficient for F₁population from 7×7 diallel cross in the upland cotton were estimated for sixteen quantitative characters i. e., days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, stem diameter, length of stem internode, number of bolls per plant, boll weight, number of seeds per boll, seed and lint weight per boll, lint percentage per boll, lint weight per boll, 100-seed weight, staple length, length of seed, width of seed, lint percentage vs. seed and lint. Mean squares of general combining ability, specific combining ability and reciprocal combining ability were significant for all characters observed. Mean squares of general combining ability for days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, number of bolls per plant, boll weight, number of seeds per boll, seed and lint weight per boll, lint percentage per boll, lint weight per boll, 100-seed weight, staple length, length of seed, width of seed, lint percentage vs. seed and lint were expressed as higher values than those of specific combining ability and reciprocal combining ability, but those for stem diameter and length of stem internode were lower. Variety DGA T-3 showed general combining ability effects positively high for plant height, stem diameter, length of stem internode, number of bolls per plant, boll weight, number of seeds per boll, seed and lint weight per boll, lint percentage per boll, lint weight per boll, 100-seed weight, staple length, length of seed and lint percentage vs. seed and lint, and Stoneville 2-B was expressed positively with the high general combining ability effect for staple length. In specific combining ability effect, hybrids in Stoneville 2-B×Sanchung. were exhibited positively as high for staple length, and higher specific combining ability effects for yield component were found positively in Chamen×Mokpo 7, Chamen ×Sanchung, DGA T-3×Stoneville 2-B, R-2×Stoneville 2-B, Mokpo 7×Stoneville 2-B, Stoneville 2-B×Sanchuing. In reciprocal effect, hybrids in DGA T-3×Red leaf, R-2×Sanchung, Mokpo 7×Stoneville 2-B and Mokpo 7×Sanchung were exhibited positively high for yield component. Heritability for days to maturity, length of stem internode, number of bolls per plant, boll weight, lint percentage per boll, lint weight per boll, staple length, length of seed, lint percentage vs. seed and lint showed high values as more than 80.19 in percentage, and boll weight was correlated positively with number of seeds per boll, seed and lint weight per boll, lint weight per boll, 100-seed weight and staple length.

Objectives The Mental Health Act is an initiative aimed at changing and shaping mental health services and protecting human rights of persons with mental disorders. Since the Mental Health Act was legislated in 1995, four amendments have been made according to the issues that arose from public concerns. However, there are still many debates about the human rights protection of the mentally iII. This study aimed to provide information regarding major aspects of the Mental Health Act by comparing them among several developed countries. Methods Current Mental Health Acts of the state of Michigan in the United States, Scotland in England, the state of Victoria in Australia, and Japan were reviewed. Issues regarding the Korean Mental Health Act were collected from seminar materials, news media contents, and mental health professionals Results The definition of subjects in Korean Mental Health Act was more inclusive than other countries and was derived from a medical classification of mental illness. Family members or guardians were granted important responsibilities for deciding the involuntary admission of mentally ill patients in Korea and Japan. In Western countries, Mental Health Review Tribunals or courts have the primary responsibility for important decisions about mentally ill patients. The regulation of immediate dis- charge after request by voluntarily admitted patients was not enacted in all countries except Korea. The mandatory procedure for involuntary admission in Western countries includes an individual case review with personal interview by a Mental Health Review Tribunal or court. Conclusion The Korean Mental Health Act appears to meet the basic standards of Guidelines from international organizations. Our traditional culture and inherent health systems seem to influence the legal regulation of mental health service and might be related to the problems of human rights protection of mentally ill patients in Korea.

Bacillus subtilis SS103으로 제조한 된장의 품질 특성 및 Angiotensin 전환효소 저해 활성

Three different doengjang(fermented soybean paste) were prepared by using B. subtilis SS103 with high angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitory activity, Asp. oryzae and mixed culture of two organisms, respectively. Quality characteristics and the inhibitory activity were compared. β-Amylase activity rapidly increased during 30 days of fermentation, but lower activity was found in doenjang prepared with B. subtilis. However, α-Galactosidase activity decreased for 15 days of fermentation and little activity was observed after that fermentation period. Protease production tended to increase during the fermentation. High protease activity was found only in doengjang prepared with Asp. oryzae, but the doengjang prepared with B. subtilis SS103 showed very low activity. Total isoflavone content at 90 day fermentation was the highest in doengjang prepared with mixture of Asp. oryzae and B. subtilis. ACE inhibitory activity increased during the fermentation period. The highest activity was found in doengjang made with mixture of Asp. oryzae and B. subtilis. Sensory evaluation on doengjang itself and its soup indicated that doengjang made with mixture of Asp. oryzae and B. subtilis showed higher acceptability on taste, flavor and color than those prepared with only Asp. oryzae or B. subtilis, respectively.

뉴로 컴퓨팅 시스템 시뮬레이션 언어 개발 및 응용환경의 구축

대부분의 신경망 시뮬레이션 프로그램은 기존의 언어(C,PASCAL,FORTRAN등)로 구현되었다. 기존의 언어들은 신경망구조와 신경망의 동적행위를 제어하는 데 적합한 자료구조와 문장들을 가지고 있지 않기 때문에 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 작성하거나 모델의 변경에 어려움이 많다. 본 논문에서는 신경망 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 작성하는데 적합한 언어를 설계하였다. 특히 제안된 언어는 신경망 구조를 쉽게 표현할 수 있고 신경망의 동작행위를 효율적으로 기술하기 위하여 층마크로 정의 개념을 도입하였다. 언어는 두개의 DIVISION으로 구성되었다. 하나는 망구조를 기술하기 위한 NETWORK STRUCTURE DIVISION이고 다른 하나는 신경망의 행위를 제어하는 PROCEDURE DIVISION이다. Most of neural network simulation programs have been implemented with the conventional computer languages. It is difficult to implement simulation programs and is various to build neural network, because the languages have not data structures and statements suitable for expressing neural network structures and controlling neural behaviors. This paper describes a neural network simulation language, specifically designed for the development and modeling of neural network applications. It has a layer macro definition concept to express the arbitrary network structures and dynamic neural behaviors easily. It consists of the two divisions. First division describes the network structures. Second division controls the network behaviors.

해양미생물로부터 카로테노이드 색소의 생산을 위한 최적조건

The optimal medium composition for the production of carotenoid pigment from Haloarcular sp. EH-1 as a dietary for fishes were 1.0% sucrose, 1.0% yeast extract, 25% sodium chloride, 0.3% sodium citrate, 0.2% potassium chloride, 2.0% magnesium sulphate, 0.002% ferric sulphate(pH7.0). The incubation temperate, aeration rate and agitation speed were 40℃, 100ml medium/500ml vol. shaking flask, and 180 rpm/min. The carotenoid pigment production was highest after 5 days of incubation with the light.

Hearing impairement in varying degrees constitutes one of the most common disabilites affecting school aged children. Eight out of every 1,000 students under the age of twenty have significant hearing loss. Hearing disabilities range from slight to total loss of sound perception. Statistics indicate that only one out of every ten hearing impaired children will become deaf. Most motor activities can be included students may possess low levels of static and/ or dynamic balance, but the greatest majority possess normal motor and physical capabilities. All the hearing impaired youngsters should be properly assessed and given the identical testing batteries as normal children. Hearing impaired students have, essentialy, a communication handicap and suffer from inability to understand verbal instructions. All physical educators should be able to use minimal finger spelling and signing for hearing impaired students.

정신보건심판위원회 퇴원명령 대상자 추적조사

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the current situation and the limitations of the Mental Health Review Board and to identify the effectiveness of the community linkage for discharged patients. Methods The data was collected from the 116 patients who were discharged from August 2005 to July 2007 by the order of the Mental Health Review Board. The survey was conducted by telephone with using a structured questionnaire. Results 51 patients (44.0%) were able to be referred to community mental health services when they discharged. The readmission rate was 50.9% and the mean duration to the first readmission was 51.73 days (S.D.=103.5). The mean duration to the first readmission was significantly longer for the group that was referred to community services and that had a negative correlation with the stability of health security. The outpatient maintenance rate and the current admission status were also significantly different between the group that was referred to community services and the group that was not referred. Conclusion The activities of the mental health review board have definite limitations in Korea such as the high rate of immediate readmissions after the discharge orders. A hospital-community integrated service system could be one possible solution to improve the maintenance of mental health patients in the community and to prevent their readmission.
