This parer describes the design of self-tuning speed controller for DC motor drive system using RLS(Recursive Least Squares) algorithm and thole-P1acement method. The model parameters, related to inertia and damping coefficient of motor, are estimated on-line by using RLS estimation algorithm. And a control signal is calculated by using pole placement method. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed controller possesses excellent adaptation capability than a conventional PI/IP controller under parameter change.

Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.
Pore Condensation-Based Separation of VOCs by a Microporous Ceramic Membrane

A pore concensation-based separation technique was studied experimentally using toluene and xylene in a nitrogen stream. The removal rate of toluene and xylene on a microporous ceramic membrane was enhanced by increasing the partial pressure difference across the membrane, but the selectivity was reduced with increasing flux of nitrogen. This was found both in vacuum and pressure modes of operation. The experimental results from this study suggest that the pores mear the inlet portion of the module were filled with the organic solvent while the pores near the exit section of the module were slightly opened as the solvent concentration was depleted along the module. In the case of xylene, the rate of N$_{2}$ permeation was reduced considerably relative to toluene, resulting in a much higher separation gactor. Condensibility of xylene appeared to be higher than that of toluene, the potential for pore condensation-based separation of xylene was also found to be higher than that for toluene.

Adrenal ganglioneuromas are rare benign tumors arising from the neural crest tissue of the sympathoadrenal nervous system. Because most of these tumors are hormonally silent and patients with them are often asymptomatic, they are often identified incidentally in patients undergoing abdominal imaging studies for unrelated reasons. Diagnosis of this entity is very difficult to make, with definitive diagnosis being based on histological examination. Surgical resection may be both diagnostic and therapeutic. A technique for laparoscopic adrenalectomy of benign adrenal tumors has recently been developed. If the tumor is excised with an adequate resection margin, the postoperative prognosis is very good. In this report, we describe two cases of adrenal ganglioneuroma that were treated using a laparoscopic resection procedure, and we also present a review of the pertinent literature.

Over the past 10 years, South Korea has implemented various plantation projects including the Pine Restoration Project in Tujiin Nars and the desertification prevention forestation in Lun soum. This study has evaluated the implementation feasibility on the small-scale A/R CDM projects in Mongolia through which carbon emission credits can be secured. Characteristics, pros and cons, economic feasibility, and project execution feasibility were compared among three possible sites, Khyalganat, Tujiin Nars, and Lun soum. Among the three evaluated sites, Tujiin Nars has the better condition in tree growth, economic feasibility, and the applicability of experience than the other two sites. A/R CDM project in Mongolia, which has a great environmental benefit of combating desertification, is expected to have some effectiveness such as lowering costs from credit benefit, sustainable management by villagers, contribution to communities, investor`s contribution to society and achievement of green image, and strengthening forestry cooperation between Korea and Mongolia.
