Malignant hyperthermia is the disorder of calcium regulation within skeletal muscle associated predominantly with anesthesia. It is triggered by volatile anesthetics and depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents. We experienced a case of malignant hyperthermia. 50 years old female patient was transferred to our emergency room that she was developed tachyarrhythmia and high fever. She was taken arthroscopic examination under the general anesthesia with enflurane and succinylcholine. We suspected malignant hyperthermia and promptly treated her with dantrolene sodium. She was developed disseminated intravascular coagulopathy and acute renal failure then we were intensive care to her. She was discharged without sequela. We experienced successful management of malignant hyperthermia.

The prevalence of PPNG among pretreated gonorrhea cases isolated at the STD clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul has been studied and reported annually since 1981. In 1991, 123 strains of N.gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 58(47.1%) were PPNG. In 1992, 98 starains of N.gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 51(52.0%) were PPNG. In all, 109(49.3%) strains were found to be PPNG among 221 strains isolated between 1991-1992. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul showed increased tendency till 1989, thereafter, it has been stationary or slightly decreasing.

Aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma by REAL classification is a heterogenous group of disease. With recent advances in combination chemotherapy, the long-term survival is improved to 40-65%. We investigated twenty-one aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients treated with pro-MACE-cytaBOM (prednisone, adriamycin, cyclophosphamide, etoposide, cytosine arabinoside, bleomycin, vincristine and methotrexated) to determine the efficacy and toxicites. There were seven patients older than 60 years. Histologic types by REAL classification were as follows : diffuse large B cell (12/21), peripheral T cell (6/21), anaplastic large cell (2/21) and angiocentric T cell (1/21). Most of patients were classified in Stage Ⅱ-Ⅳ (20/21). According to IPI (international prognostic index) score, seven patients were included in low risk, five were low-intermediate risk, three were high-intermediated risk and six were high risk group. seventeen complete responses (85%) and two partial responses (10%) were achieved. The overall response rate was 95%. The mena disease free survival was 30 months, the mean overall survival was 29 months (range:21-36), and the median overall survival was not reached. WHO grade Ⅲ/Ⅳ neutropenia or thrombocytopenia was observed in 16.7% and 2.8%, respectively. There was no treatment-related death. These results suggest that proMACE-cytaBOM combination chemotherapy is very effective and has low toxicity in the treatment of aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma even treated in elderly patients.

In order to investigate the effects of vacuum annealing on the properties of titanium boride films (TiBx) on a (100)Si substrate, TiBX/Si samples were prepared by the co-evaporation process and then annealed in the temperature range of 300∼1000℃. The interfacial reaction of TiB_x/Si systems and the thermal stability of non-stoichiometric TiB_x films (0≤/Ti≤2.5) were investigated by means of sheet resistance, x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, x-ray photo-electron spectroscopy, and stress measurement. For TiB_x samples with a ratio of B/Ti≥2.0, an apparent structural change is not observed even after annealing at 1000℃ for 1 h. For samples with the ratio of BITi$lt;2.0, however, there are two competitive solid phase reactions: the formation of a titanium silicide layer at the interface and the formation of a stoichiometric TiB₂ layer at the surface, indicating the salicide (self-aligned silicide) process. The sheet resistance and the film stress in the Ti/Si and TiBX/Si systems are explained well by the solid phase reactions.

The use of recycled concrete is increasing faster than the development of appropriate design recommendations. This paper reports limited experimental data on lap splice performance of reinforced concrete beams with recycled aggregates. Reinforced concrete beams with natural aggregate and recycled aggregate were tested to evaluate their failure modes and lap splice characteristics. Based on the experimental results, reinforced concrete beams with recycled aggregates are about equal strength and failure mode with natural concrete beams.

토기 융기문 발(보물 제597호)은 1933년에 부산 영선동 패총에서 수습된 것으로 전해진다. 이 유물은 구연부한쪽에 부착된 짧은 귀때와 동체 상부의 V자형 점토 띠 장식이 특징적인 것으로, 선사시대 토기 중 유일하게 국가지정 문화재로 지정되었다. 이 연구에서는 최근 잦아진 지진에 대비하기 위해 보존상태를 정밀 진단하고 과학적보존처리를 통해 유물을 안정화하였다. 보존상태 정밀진단 결과, 귀때 및 구연부, 저부 곳곳에서 균열 및 탈락이관찰되었다. 융기문 장식 일부에서는 미세 편이 분리되어 2차적 훼손이 우려되었다. C·T 영상분석 결과, 토기는수십 개의 파손 편으로 분리된 것을 접합·복원한 상태였다. 과거 수리복원 부위는 재료의 노화로 인해 표면 채색층 박락, 복원재료와 태토 간 미세 이격이 확인되었다. 또한 표면은 과도한 색맞춤으로 토기 본연의 색과 질감이 변질된 상태를 보였다. 과거 손상 및 복원 부위는 좌면, 배면, 우면에 집중되었으며 동체부에 비해 저부에서 손상이 가중된 모습을 보였다. 수리복원재료는 X-선 형광분석을 이용하여 비파괴 분석한 결과, Ca와 S가 주요 성분으로 검출되어 석고로 확인하였다. 접착제로 보이는 미량 시료를 수습하여 적외선 분광분석을 실시한 결과, 일부에서는 균열 및 공극 부분 접합, 보강을 위해 셀룰로오스계 수지, 아크릴계 수지 등 합성수지가 사용된 것을 알 수있었다. X-선 형광분석을 통해 표면을 비파괴 분석한 결과, Pb, Cr 등의 성분이 주로 검출되어 복원 부위 표면에서는 색맞춤 시 크롬산납(PbCrO4) 계열의 황색 현대 안료가 사용되었을 것으로 추정하였다. 정밀진단 결과, 과거 수리복원 재료가 오랜 기간 태토와 맞물려 안정화된 상태를 나타냈다. 따라서 이번 보존처리에서는 과도하게 채색된표면의 채색층을 세척하여 토기 본래의 색과 질감을 되찾고 과거 복원 부위 중 물리적으로 취약한 부분을 중심으로접합 및 복원하는 데 중점을 두고 진행하였다. 보존처리는 세척, 접합 및 복원, 색맞춤 순으로 진행하였다. 보존처리 시 사전 실험을 통해 유물에 적합한 재료와 방법을 선정 후 적용하였는데, 특히 이번 보존처리에서는 토기 복원재료로 Wood EposⓇ를 새롭게 적용하였다. 처리 전 보존상태 조사 및 보존처리 과정은 사진, 동영상, 도면 등 체계적으로 기록하여 소장처가 유물을 지속적으로 보존관리하는 데 기초자료로 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 보존처리 및 조사내용은 소장처와 함께 보존처리 완료 후 유물 전시에 활용하였다. The Yunggimuntogi(Treasure No. 597) has been known to be recovered at Yeongseondong Shell Mounds, Busan in 1933 during the Japanese colonial period. This artifact is characterized by a short spout attached to one side of the mouth rim as well as a V-shaped clay stripe on the upper body part, which is the only earthenware designated as national cultural heritage from the prehistoric period. In order to prepare for the earthquakes that have recently become more frequent, this study has precisely diagnosed the conservation status and stabilized the artifact through scientific conservation treatment. As a result of the precise diagnosis of the preservation status, cracks and losses were observed in the spout, the mouth rim, and the base. In some portion of the raised pattern decorations, loss of fine pieces raised concerns over the secondary damage. The C · T image analysis has shown that the earthenware had been once glued and restored from dozens of broken pieces. From the sites restored in the past, the peeling of surface colored layer and the fine cracks between the restoration material and the earthenware clay were observed due to the aging of the restoration material. Furthermore, the inherent color and texture of the earthenware was altered by excessive color matching. The damaged and restored sites were concentrated on the left side, the rear side, and the right side. The damages were more severe on the base than the body portion. In the past, gypsum(CaSO4) had been mainly used as restoration material, and synthetic resin had been partially used for joining and reinforcing the pieces. On the surface of the restoration sites, it is presumed that lead chromate(PbCrO4) yellow modern pigment was used for color matching. The precise diagnosis has revealed that the restoration material in the past has been stabilized by interlocking with the earthenware clay for a long time. Therefore, in this conservation treatment, the coloring layer of the excessively painted surface was washed to recover the original color and texture of the earthenware, and the physically vulnerable parts of the sites restored in the past were mainly targeted for joining and restoration. The conservation treatment has proceeded in the order of cleaning, joining and restoration, and color matching, and materials and methods suitable for the artifacts were selected and applied through a preliminary experiment. The survey on conservation status before the treatment as well as the conservation treatment process have been systematically recorded and documented to provide basic data for further continuous conservation and maintenance by collecting institutions.
