        Production of the Rare Ginsenoside Rh2-MIX (20(S)-Rh2, 20(R)-Rh2, Rk2, and Rh3) by Enzymatic Conversion Combined with Acid Treatment and Evaluation of Its Anti-Cancer Activity

        The ginsenoside Rh2 has strong anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic effects. However, the application of ginsenoside Rh2 is restricted because of the small amounts found in Korean white and red ginsengs. To enhance the production of ginsenoside Rh2-MIX (comprising 20(S)-Rh2, 20(R)-Rh2, Rk2, and Rh3 as a 10-g unit) with high specificity, yield, and purity, a new combination of enzymatic conversion using the commercial enzyme Viscozyme L followed by acid treatment was developed. Viscozyme L treatment at pH 5.0 and 50°C was used initially to transform the major ginsenosides Rb1, Rb2, Rc, and Rd into ginsenoside F2, followed by acid-heat treatment using citric acid 2% (w/v) at pH 2.0 and 121°C for 15 min. Scale-up production in a 10-L jar fermenter, using 60 g of the protopanaxadiol-type ginsenoside mixture from ginseng roots, produced 24 g of ginsenoside Rh2-MIX. Using 2 g of Rh2-MIX, 131 mg of 20(S)-Rh2, 58 mg of 20(R)-Rh2, 47 mg of Rk2, and 26 mg of Rh3 were obtained at over 98% chromatographic purity. Then, the anti-cancer effect of the four purified ginsenosides was investigated on B16F10, MDA-MB-231, and HuH-7 cell lines. As a result, these four rare ginsenosides markedly inhibited the growth of the cancer cell lines. These results suggested that rare ginsenoside Rh2-MIX could be exploited to prepare an anti-cancer supplement in the functional food and pharmaceutical industries.

        사이버언어 사전과 사이버언어의 현재

        사이버언어 사전의 편찬은 그 자체로 사이버언어의 지위와 가치를 말하여 주는 것으로, 대단히 큰 의미가 있는 작업이다. 사이버언어는 일상언어와 다른 모습을 가지고 있지만 일상 언어를 기반으로 하는 것이기 때문에 일상 언어와의 관계를 살피는 것이 중요하다. 그러기 위해서는 표준어와 사이버언어를 함께 제시하는 표제어 등록 방법이 유용할 것이며, 이를 통해 사이버언어와 일상 언어의 이질화 정도를 쉽게 파악하고, 사이버 언어 양상을 포괄적으로 파악할 수 있다. 지속적인 사이버언어 코퍼스의 구축과 정확한 형태소 분석 작업은 사이버언어 사전 제작을 위해 반드시 선행되어야 할 조건이다. 이에 사이버언어 코퍼스를 기반으로 하고, 빈도성과 분포성을 기준으로 삼은 사이버언어 사전의 변이형처리 방법에 대해 제안한다. A publication of Cyber language dictionary represent a value of Cyber language itself. This study analyzed 2 dictionaries of Cyber language. Both 2 dictionaries need more objective standard of collecting entries for dictionary. So, this study propose a new manner of administration for entries. It is based on a large scale corpus of Cyber language, frequency of the use of a word and distribution of the use of a word are very important standards to select variations as entries.

        A new device, muscle clamping system was developed to facilitate exact quatifying technique A strabismus surgery, and reduce the risk of complications. The device is composed of a lower fixing body with three jaws and an upper supporting body. They are used to clip an extraocular muscle and fix it to the sclera with a single bite. Superior rectus recession on 16 rabbit eyes were performed with this new device. Conjunctival injection, muscle adhesion strength, and light microscopic findings were examined at 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks postoperatively. The Conjunctival injection were minimal, adhesion power ranged from 420 to 600 gram gravity, which is sufficient in withstand the normal pull of human extraocular muscle. In microscopic exam, some Inflammatory cells and fibrosis were found. The new device was technically easy, fast, and accurate, so it may be useful in stabismus surgery.

        환자이탈군 특성요인과 이탈환자 예측모형에 관한 연구

        Background : We developed a model for predicting premature discharge and identifying related factors. Methods : Prediction model was developed by data mining techniques. Basic data were collected from the total discharge data base of a university hospitals in Chungnam province during the period from July 1, 1999 to June 30, 2000. Results : 1. Among 22,873 patients, the number of patients discharge with usual discharge orders were 21,695 or 94.8%. The number of the prematurely discharged patients were 1,178 or 5.2%. 2. The primary reason for unusal discharge was transfer to other hospital. Move to a local hospital closer to their home and burdensome medical expenses were main reasons. 3. Predictability of each model was tested using the top 10 percent of patients with the highest probabilities of premature discharge. The neural network model was chosen as the most appropriate model for predicting prematurely discharged patients. 4. Ten percent of the total number of patients had been selected randomly to test the effectiveness of the neural network model. We have chosen the threshold of the neural network model as 0.7. The number of patients who were expected to discharge prematurely was 312. Among them, 241 had been discharged prematurely(77.2%). Conclusion : of the several data mining techniques used, the neural network model was the most effective, It can be used to identify and manage the patients who are expected to discharge prematurely.

      • 부신 결핵에 의한 Addison씨병 1예

        Addison's disease is a rare primary adrenal insufficient disorder resulting from chronic deficiency of adrenal cortical hormones. Clinical manefestations are generalized weakenss, weight loss, hyperpigmentation (especially sun exposed area and mucous membrane), hypotension, hyponatremia, hyperkalemia, gastrointestinal symptoms (involving anorexia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain). A 34-year-old woman has experienced slowly progressive generalized weakenss and skin pigmentation, anorexia, nausea, vomiting with ascites and diffuse abdominal pain. On the time of admission, her main clinical manifestations were anorexia, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, generalized weakness, amenorrhea, hair loss, diffuse abdominal pain revealed as Addison's disease due to bilateral adrenal tuberculosis. Her adrenal insufficient symptoms were recovered with the replacement of adrenocortical hormones and antituberculous medications. After treatment, Her skin pigmentation was decreased and menstruation was reappeared. Here we experienced one cases of Addison's disease with tuberculous peritonitis.

      • 급성 충수염으로 진단된 예측 불가 염증성 맹장 종물에 대한 외과적 고찰

        Purpose: An unexpected inflammatory cecal mass of uncertain etiology was encountered during surgery for presumed appendicitis. In this case, the surgeon couldn't exclude differential diagnosis which were severe appendicitis involving the cecal region, diverticular disease, other inflammatory bowel diseases, and neoplasm. Therefore, this finding leads to a therapeutic dilemma for the surgeon, when making surgical decisions during the operation. The aim of this study was to resolve this dilemma, a retrospective review was undertaken in this study. Methods: A retrospective study was performed to review the management of this problem at Soonchunhyang University Chunan Hospital for eight and half years from July 1991 to December 1999. A review of the emergency operation records identified 50 patients who had undergone ileocecal resection or right hemicolectomy for an inflammatory ileocecal mass of uncertain etiology when operated on for probable appendicitis. Results: Altogether, 39 patients underwent ileocecal resection, and 11 patients underwent right hemicolectomy. The final pathologic diagnosis was appendiceal abscess in 32 patients (63%), cecal diverticulitis in 7 patients (14%), neoplasm in 6 patients (12%), appendiceal phlegmon in 3 patients (6%), ileal tuberculosis in 1 patient (2%) and Anisakiasis in another patient (2%). The neoplasm of the 6 neoplasm patients was ascending colon cancer for 4 patients and cecal cancer for 2 patients. There was no mortality in this group. Conclusion: Although most inflammatory cecal masses are caused by benign disease, all cases in which the intraoperative diagnosis is unclear, any pathologic diagnosis including neoplasm cannot be ruled out. So this suggest ileocecal resection or right hemicolectomy to remove a possible underlying malignancy, and to decrease morbidity and mortality.

        가상공간 신어의 생성

        The purpose of this paper is to analyze the new words in cyber-space for revealing a specific characteristic of cyber-language. The language of cyber-space is very different from common language. This difference is originated from two causes, the one is newly produced computer mediated communication environment and the others is reaction of peoples who using cyber-language in cyber-space. I explained cyber-language new word's requirement with lexicon. A dictionary of lexicon is made of two departments, the one is temporary storage and the other is eternal storage. So, only listed new words in eternal storage allowed as cyber-language new words. For listing in eternal storage, the word must be used very frequently. Morphological variation and Semantical variation of cyber-language allowed new word after lexicalization. And a compound word and derivative word can make new word after listing on the dictionary.

        To evaluate the in-vivo effects of mitomycin-C-polyglycolic acid composite(MMC-PGA) the disk: shaped composite were implanted into the peritoneal cavity of the Sprague-Dawley rats. The pathologic changes were examined at various time points up to 12 weeks. Initially the soft tissue around the inserted disks showed capillary congestion at 3 days. Inflammatory infiltrates with foreign body giant cells appeared from the 2nd week and reached peak response at 6-8 weeks. These reaction diminished prominently at 12 weeks. No specific pathologic change was found in the liver, the kidneys, and the heart. The above results suggest that the MMC-PGA composite can serve as a new device for intraperitoneal chemotherapy of various types of cancers.

The analysis test results of the harbor operate rate case.1 is samall then another cases that critical wave height of anchor area but the calmness of anchor area of the case.1 that is much broarder than Hongdo anchor area therefor case.1 was decided no problme that ship is used harbor. This study result will be used of Hongdo harbor in the future for plan building of breatwater. The future for hardof high exactly as hydraulic and numerical model test especially, the will be studied numerical model test for beach reflection, breaking wave height, submerged friction.

        Hot Plate장치를 이용한 TTD사 제조조건에 따른 사의 물성변화 연구

        In this the study, the effects of the manufacturing process conditions on the properties Thick and Thin Diameter yarns(TTD yarns) prepared with hot plate device in the draw winder were determined. Physical properties including wet shrinkage, tenacity and elongation of the samples were measured and thick and thin effect was analysed with the evenness tester. The results were as the follows: There was little change the wet shrinkage of the TTD yarns in the range of 70°C- 80°C of R1 temperature(lower hot cylinder) with the same Hot Plate(H,P) temperature, but thc wet shrinkage of the TTIl yarns decreased 5-10% when RI temperature was 90°C. The wet shrinkage of the TTD yams decreased with the H/P temperature at the same temperature of R1, There was little effect of R1 and H/P temperature on the tenacity of TTD yarns. The elongation of TTD yarns increased with RL temperature at the same I-VP temperature. The elongation of TTD yarns increased little bit for the first time and then decreased above that temperature with increasing H/P temperature at the same R1 temper<ature. The thick and thin effect on the TTD yarns was obvious in 110°C of H/P temperature regardless of R1 temperature, while there was no thick and thin effect on the TTD yarns in 1 40°C of HiP temperature.
