Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

The purpose of this research was to analyze the correlation of the characteristics of dwellers and residential satisfaction in apartment housing. The contents of this research is to identify characteristics of dwellers, which might have an influence on residential satisfaction in apartment housing. In conclusion, the number of a family, the floor level, the size of housing unit and tenure had statistically significant correlations with the residential satisfaction in apartment housing.
흰쥐의 파라쿼트 중독모델에서 폐손상에 대한 N-acetylcysteine과 Methylprednisolone의 효과

Background: This study evaluated the inhibitory effects of N-acetylcysteine(NAC) and methylprednisolone on lung injury in the paraquat-poisoned rat model. Methods: Sixty rats were divided into four groups(n=15 in each group) accordingly to the drug administered : group I, only intraperitoneally injected paraquat (20 mg/kg); group II, intraperitoneally injected paraquat and NAC(300 mg/kg); group III, intraperitoneally injected paraquat and methylprednisolone(60 mg/kg); and group IV, intraperitoneally injected paraquat, NAC(300 mg/kg), and methylprednisolone(60 mg/kg). On the 7th day after injection, the survival rate of experimental rats and the positive area of collagen fiber in the injured lung stained by Masson's trichroms were evaluated. Results: 1. There were no differences in the 7-day survival rates for the four groups. 2, The percent of collagen fiber for group II(6.3 ± 4.7%) was significantly decreased in comparison with that for group I (14.4±9.7%). 3. The percent of collagen fiber for Group III(13.2±5.9%) was not significantly different from that for group I(14.4±9.7%). 4. The percent of collagen fiber for Group IV(6.9±4.6%) was significantly decreased in comparison with that for group I, but was not different from that for group II. Conclusion: These results suggest that NAC protects against pulmonary fibrosis in paraquat-poisoned rats whereas methylprednisolone does not protect against pulmonary fibrosis.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the correlation of the characteristics of dwellers and residential preference in apartment housing through the case study of 340 samples in 25 housing estates which were built in Chung-ju city The contents of this research consist of two main parts. The first part is to identify characteristics of dwellers, which might have an influence on residential preference in apartment housing. The second part is to identify the main physical elements of residential preference that can be influenced by the personal characteristics. Thus, this research will contribute to the establishment of the planning methods which increase residential preference in apartment housing, while promoting the quality of residential environment in Chung-ju city.

Home automation technology comes out as internet appliance spreads and users ask for more convenient services. But automation for small home and office is hardly applied because it needs expensive and large equipment such as a settop-box and a CCTV. To solve these problems, Home automation system should have functions to monitor and control appliances without any other equipment. First of all, the fundamental technologies such as image monitoring and controlling should be implemented to accomplish Home automation. The conventional image technology doesn't support real-time processing, transmission and playing for image because it focuses on buffering for high quality image. Moreover, it doesn't take any consideration on mobile devices with limited resources. In this paper,(to treat these problems,) we design and implement a remote image monitoring system. It uses image handling technology based on software to prevent a image delay problem caused by capturing images from cameras, It can also support multiple image monitoring which substitutes several original large images for small ones. This system could be used not only in the electric power monitoring and distributed controlling areas system but also in some areas related to education.

We need an additional monitoring tool to observe a TMO model-based system because the conventional tools ae not based on the monitoring concept. Some studies have been conducted to develop a monitoring tool. But it is hard for them to support a distribued monitoring because they did not use a data sharing and delivery mechanism provided by the TMO model. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a TMO monitoring model which the TMO model and a monitoring concept are combined in. The model is composed of some components to support monitoring, and it guides the middleware to take all the monitoirng functions. Thus, a user can get monitored data provided by the middleware without any efforts. In addition, in this paper, we propose the MODS and MDC which are mechanisms to share or deliver the monitored data in distributed environments. These can resolve problems with conventional data stores used by the legacy monitoring tools, and provide a fundamental data management scheme to monitor several systems in distributed environments. The TMO monitoring model, MODS, and MDC can be used for a TMO system monitoring, performance evaluation, and monitoring tool development.

In this study, the potential energy and limitation of the facility of Chungju national university are analyzed in the respect of human knowledge, nature, and visual environment. In addition, the effctiveness and problem of the existing master plan are evaluated through the investigation on the main hart and development procedure of the previous master plan of CJU. These results are compared and reflected to the plan of Vision 2003, e-STRR2010 and effective campus development plans of CJU are presented.

Background: Adenosine interacts with A1 receptors present on the extracellular surface of cardiac cells, activating K+channels in a fashion. It produces coronary vasodilatation and AV nodal block. The half-time is one to six second and has ultra-short action. In ischemic heart disease, fractional flow reserve(FFR) can be achieved safely with intravenous adenosine infusions at a rate of 150㎍/kg/min which cause maximal coronary hyperemia. Purpose: We investigated the patients who have had ischemic heart disease(n=8). After adenosine intravenous administration(150㎍/kg/min), the effect cause maximal hyperemia of coronary artery. During peak maximal hyperemia, we reported clinical findings, coronary hemodynamics and electrocardiogram findings. Methods: After diagnostic coronary angiography and left ventriculography, catheter was advanced into the ostium of coronary artery. We investigated coronary hemodynamics such as systolic coronary artery pressure, diastolic coronary artery pressure, mean coronary artery pressure and heart rate. To assess the use of adenosine for determination of fractional flow reserve, hemodynamics and electrocardiogram were measured at basal state and during peak maximal hyperemia. Results: Symptoms developed 1.5-2 minute after adenosine intravenous administration and each symptom disappeared 2-2.5 minute after adenosine administration. Two patients represented asymptomatic appearance and six patients complained of flushing, chest pain, palpitation and headache. In eight patients with ischemic heart disease, 1.5 minute after venous administration of 150㎍/kg/min of adenosine, coronary artery pressure decreased and heart rate increased significantly. Conduction abnormalities after administration of 150㎍/kg/min of adenosine were transient 2nd degree AV block 2 cases(25%). Conclusions: Adenosine is a potent ultra short-acting vasodilator. Although coronary artery pressure decreased and heart rate increased and mild cardiovascular symptoms occurred after continuous infusion of 150㎍/kg/min of adenosine, it is useful as an agent for determination of fractional flow reserve.

To investigate the distribution and hemolytic activity of staphylococci in acute oral infection, staphylococci were isolated from the patients with acute oral infection and healthy persons, hemolytic activity was measured on sheep blood agar plates, and DNA-DNA hybridization was preformed with δ-hemolysin gene probe of S. aureus under low stringent condition or high stringent condition. The isolation ratio of S.lugdunensis in patients was higher than that of healthy persons. Four strains of S. lugdunensis had δ-like hemolytic activity, but two strains did not. In dot blot analysis, S. lugdunensis was hybridized with δ-hemolysin probe of S. aureus under low stringent condition, but weakly hybridized with δ-hemolysin probe under high stringent condition. There results suggest that S. lugdunensis is an important pathogen in acute oral infection and δ-hemolysin gene of S. lugdunensis have partial homology with δ-hemolysin gene of S. aureus.
