Purposes :The purposes of this study was to investigate the self-managing status according to the life styles and the diabetic knowledge of early adulthood. The subjects in this study were 240people, the early adult aged twenties to thirties living in the metropolitan area. Data were collected by using self-administered questionnaires that measure about the knowledge of diabetes; the dietetic behavior; the knowledge of diet; the exercise behavior; the knowledge of exercise. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and correlation were used for data analysis. Result :1. At the knowledge of diabetes degree based on the general character, the subjects who had experiences of diabetic education have higher degree of the diabetic knowledge. 2. At the knowledge of diabetes degree according to the life style, the subjects who have regular diet are appeared highly. Also the subjects who don't take much food of animal origin have higher degree. 3. At the knowledge of diet based on the life style, the subjects who don't keep three times meals a day are appeared highly. Also the subjects who have regular diet have higher degree. 4. At the knowledge of exercise according to the life style, the subjects who take extra nutritions 3-4 times a week are appeared highly. Although the subjects tend to know about dietary, exercise and health management, it showed that they actually don't perform what they know in their everyday of life. The reason for this could be the lack of perceived seriousness about diabetes mellitus. Thus as nursing professionals, we should provide them proper health education and support. Moreover, advanced research on the empowerment is warranted.

셀레콕시브 및 그 합성유도체들의 항암활성 스크리닝

Selective COX (cyclooxygenase)-2 inhibitors including celecoxib have been shown to induce apoptosis and cell cycle changes in various tumor cells. New inhibitors are recently being developed as chemomodulating agents. We evaluated celecoxib and screened 150 synthetic compounds for anti-proliferative activities in vitro. Effects of celecoxib on COX activity, cell growth, cell cycle distribution, and apoptosis induction were determined in A549 COX-2 overexpressing human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. The COX inhibition of celecoxib increased with concentration up to 82% at 1μM after 24 hr exposure. Forty μM and 50μM of celecoxib induce G_1 arrest, and TUNEL-positive apoptotic cells, respectively. Among 150 compounds, several compounds were selected for having greater COX-2 inhibitory activity and higher selectivity than celecoxib with growth inhibitory activity. Celecoxib showed concentration-dependent COX inhibitory activity, and ability to induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in human NSCLC cells in vitro. Among synthetic analogues screened, several compounds showed promising in vitro activity as COX-2 inhibitory anticancer agents, which warrant further evaluation in vitro and in vivo.

Streptomyces coelicolor의 pat 유전자 5'-Flanking Region의 염기서열

Streptomyces coelicolor의 phosphinothricin acetyltransferase (pat)유전자는 phosphinothricin(PPT) 저항성 유전자들로부터 고안된 primer를 사용하여 클로닝되었다. Southern blot 분석결과 S. coelicolor에서 얻어진 2.1-kb DNA 절편은 S. hygroscopicus의 bar유전자를 DNA-DNA hybridization 하였다. 본 논문은 S. coelicolor의 pat 유전자의 5'-flanking region의 염기서열을 분석하였다. The pat gene of Streptomyces coelicolor strain was cloned by using primers designed from the PPT resistant genes. Southern blot analysis was revealed a DNA-DNA hybridization between the obtained 2.1-kb DNA fragment from S. coelicolor and bar gene from S. hygroscopicus. This paper was analyzed for the nucleotide sequence about the 5'-flanking region of pat gene from S. coelicolor.

재생셀룰로오스 섬유를 이용하여 제조된 Carboxymethylcellulose(CMC)의 특성에 관한 연구

Carboxymethylcellulose, which is water soluble at room temperature, was manufactured from the cellulose material in this study. Experimental parameter included reaction temperature, time, and concentration of NaOH and trichloroacetic acid. CMC was tested for solubility, degree of substitution, and tensile strength. CMC manufactured from viscose rayon was affected by the chemical concentration rather than the reaction time and temperature. Also, DS is closely related to the solubility of the CMC.

멀티채널 방식에 의한 초미세 바늘 전극의 제작 및 빔 특성

An ultra-sharp tungsten electrode for field emission was manufactured by using an electrochemical etching method, and its beam characteristics were investigated. KOH and NaOH were the electrolytes used in this research, and the taper length of the tip varied form 150 μm to 250μm according to the applied voltage and the concentration of the electrolyte. The electron-beam stability was measured to be within 5% for a total emission current of 5 μA during 4 hours of operation, and the ignition voltages were found to be ~300 V. The tip radius was experimentally found to be 250A˚ from a linear fitting of Fowler-Nordheim plots, which was in remarkably good agreement with that of the image size from scanning ion-microscopy.

벨브용 내열합금의 고온 수증기분위기하에서의 산화 특성

Thermogravinetric measurement and oxide scale analysis have been done to study the oxidation behaviour of A335, A437 alloy and Nitrided A355, A437 in high temperature steam environment. When A335, A437, and Nitrided A335, A437 was oxidized under high temperature water vapor had been formed oxide scale consist of two layer structure. At all the temperatures parabolic kinetics was observed in the oxide scale formation, and its apparent activation energies were estimated to be 20.0kcal/mol for A335 and 61.05kcal/mol for A437, respectively. But apparent activation energies in case of Nitrided A437 and A355 alloy was 25.9kcal/mol, 16.68kcal/mol respectively. With the increase of Cr content in the alloys the oxidation rates decreased. The case of surface nitriding alloys was rather weakened high temperature water vapor resistance than non-nitirding alloy. The oxide scales of A437 alloy were identified as ??, ??, ??, ?? matrix form the surface. The oxide scales of A355 alloy were identified as ??, (Al, Cr, Fe)??, matrix from the surface.

국내 종돈의 다품종 유전능력 평가

본 연구는 1995년부터 2001년까지 한국종축개량협회가 전국 종돈장으로부터 수집한 Landrace, Yorkshire 및 Duroc의 등지방 두께, 일당증체량, 90㎏ 도달일령, 등심단면적, 정육률, 총산자수 및 복당생존자돈수에 대해 유전적 그룹을 통한 품종효과의 추정과 유전능력 평가를 위하여 96,842두의 산육능력성적과 90,396복의 산자능력자료를 분석하였다. 추정된 품종효과들은 각 품종의 특징을 보여주는데 Landrace는 등지방, 정육률 및 총산자수에서 우수하였고, Yorkshire는 정육률, 등심단면적, 총산자수 및 복당생존자돈수에서 좋은 결과를 보여주었으며, Duroc은 90㎏ 도달일령과 일당증체량에서는 우수하였지만 가식부위를 결정하는 등지방 두께와 정육률, 번시능력을 보여주는 산자수에서 다른 품종에 뒤지는 것으로 나타났다. 유전적 그룹을 통한 품종효과의 추정으로 품종별로 능력평가를 하는 노력을 절감할 수 있고 또한 F1 잡종돈이 포함되어도 평가할 수 있다. This study was carried out for the simultaneous genetic evaluation of swine breeds from the seedstock farms in Korea. The performance tasted production records of 96,842 heads and the litter records of 90,396 litters from 1995 to 2001 were analyzed to estimate the breeding values and the breed effects of days to 90㎏, daily gain, back fat thickness, loin muscle area, lean meat percent, total litter size and number born alive from Landrace, Yorkshire and Duroc. Estimated breed effects of traits had shown the characteristics of the breeds. Landrace was superior in back fat thickness and lean meat percent to other breeds. Yorkshire had shown good performance in lean meat percent, loin muscle area, total litter size and number born alive. Duroc was superior to the other breeds in days to 90㎏ and daily gain. Conclusively, the multi-breed genetic evaluation would result in higher connectedness and provide convenience for the routine genetic evaluation process of swine performance and reproduction test.

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHS) is a rare complication in the use of human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) and human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) for ovulation induction. The pathophysiology is unclear and treatments are mainly conservative. We presented a case of ovulation induction with HMG and HCG in secondary amenorrhea due to hypogonadotropic hypogonadism after brain surgery for craniopharyngeoma with abscess formation. A brief review on the literatures was made in comment.

32-비트 SPARC 프로세서를 이용한 마이크로컨트롤러 칩의 설계

A 32-bit SPARC-based one-chip microcontroller was designed by combining the SPARC 811 microprocessor, a floating-point unit, a memory controller and peripheral devices. The peripheral devices include high speed input/output ports, two timers, a watchdog timer, pulse width modulation ports, serial communication ports, an interrupt controller and an ADC interface port. All parts of the microcontoller were designed in the RTL level of Verilog HDL and their functionalities were verified through the system level simulation. The designed microcontroller chip can be applicable to the wide range of advanced control systems, such as motor control system, which requires high processing power and many peripheral devices.
