        Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare neoplasm that arises from the mesothelium of a serosal cavity and is a rapidly fatal disease with a median survival of 4 to 12 months for untreated cases. Recently, we experienced a case with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma who was suspected hepatocelluar carcioma by abdominal CT scan and was confirmed by biopsy including immunohistochemical stain(calretinin) after surgery. We performed tumor excisions and wedge resection of the liver(segment Ⅷ)and inserted Tencoff catheter in abdominal cavity at 25th day of post-operation. We treated with intraperitoneal paclitaxel(25mg/m^(2)/day for 5 days) six courses monthly. She was well tolerable and is still living without any evidence of recurrence for 14th month of post-operation.

        공원묘지 유실에 의한 대량재해의 개인식별

        Individual identification of severely decomposed or skeletonized bodies is an important part in medicolegal field. 142 bodies were torn up and carried away by flood in a park cemetry, Kwang-Ju, Kyunggi province, Korea at Sept., 10, 1990. The authors examed the 56 bodies, which were gained, through medical, anthropological, odontological, radiological methods, and superimposition for individual identification. Among them, 41 cases were successfully identified, and remaining 15 cases were not identified because of sever destruction and no adequate information.

        KAL기 추락에 의한 대량재해의 개인식별

        Individual identification is an important part in medicolegal field especially in mass disaster. At July, 27, 1989, KAL KE-803 was crashed on landing at Tripoli International Airport, Liba. The plane was caught in fire and sixty eight Koreans were sacrified. The majority of victims were severely charred and injured. The authors examed all dead bodies and successfully identified all the cases through visual, anthropological, odontological, radiological and pathological methods including fingerprint and blood typing.

        삭골(Bone shaving)한 골의 재생에 골막이 미치는 영향

        Many orientals have a more prominent malar eminence and mandibular angle than westerners so their faces often look rough and unattracive. In recent years more people want to have a more attractive and beautiful face due to economic prosperity and westernization. Therefore people receiving bone shavings or osteotomies for cosmetic purposes are increasing. The effects of the periosteum on lay bone grafts were investigated but the effect of the periosteum after bone shaving or osteotomy is little known. The authors investigated the effect of the periosteum on the regeneration of bone in membranous and endochondral bone of rabbits. Bony defects each measuring about 5.0×5.0×1.5mm were made on the left and right sides of the parietal bones of 15 rabbits and femurs of 15 other rabbits respectively. The periosteum was preserved on the left and removed on the right. The following results were obtained: 1) The average thickness of the regenerated bones in groups 2 δ4 were thinner than those in groups 1 δ 3 at 4, 8 and 12 weeks postoperatively but the differences of thickness were statistically significant at onl 4weeks postoperatively(P<0.05). 2) The histological findings in groups 2 δ 4 showed lesser regeneration of the shaved bone than those in groups 1 δ 3 at 4, 8 and 12weeks postoperatively. 3) There was no significant increase in the thickness of the regenerated bone after 8 weeks postoperatively in all groups. 4) At 12 weeks postoperatively, the thickness of the regenerated bone in all groups was over 70% of the thickness of the resected bone. In summary, the authors found that it is important to perform overcorrection and resect the periosteum simultaneously in bone shaving to prevent the unwanted regeneration.

        성인의 급성 심장사에서 정상 심장례의 분석

        The authors analysed 53 cases of sudden cardiac death(SCD) without prominent structural abnormalies of heart out of witnessed 300 cases. Thirty four cases were associated with sleep and 19 with activity or rest. Twenty one cases were classified as having normal hearts, and the rest as structurally mild abnormal ones. Male was predominant, and almost of the victims were suffered in their twenties or thirties. All cases collapsed instantaneously or in very short time with various and not specific terminal symptoms. Inducing or trigger factors are not clarified in almost of the cases. Mechanisms or causes of death could not be defined clearly. We concluded that careful heart examination with detailed clinical history under the appropriate postmortem investigation system is only effective approach for the true mechanism and cause of death.

      • 압축력과 휨을 받는 Hollow Core Slab의 구조적 거동에 관한 연구

        Recently, Many engineers have used Hollow Core Slab(HCS) system on buildings. However, they couldn't apply this system to under three underground buildings, because the axial force effect hasn't yet been clearly investigated. This paper presents the test results for structural behaviors of HCS under axial and bending load. Variables are the thickness of Topping concrete and the maginitude of axial forces. The thicknesses are 100mm and l50mm. The axial forces are 0kN, 911.4kN, 1313.2kN, 1640.5kN. The results showed that HCS system has more strength capacity as the axial forces are increaser.

      • AFB 공정을 이용한 양돈폐수의 혐기성전처리에 관한 연구

        This research was performed to optimize the anaerobic pretreatment of slurry type swine wastewater for the subsequent nitrogen and phophorus removal. Step-wise increases in Organic Loading Rate(OLR) and decreases in Hydraulic Retention Time(HRT) were utilized in Upflow Anaerobic Fixed Bed(AFB) reactor at mesophilic temperature(35℃). The maximum methane prodution rates of 1.16 v/v-d was observed at an HRT of 12 hours. TCOD removal efficiency of 75% at an HRT of 2 days and 41% at an HRT of 12 hours were obtained respectively. It is likely that the influent COD concentration of 3,000 mg/L for the subsequent biological nutrient removal system could be supplied from the anaerobic pretreatments operated at an HRT of 12 hours(OLR 12g CODL-day). During AFB operation alkalinity showed 800- 1,500mg/L as CaCO_(3) at all HRTs. It could play an important role for compensating pH drop caused by nitrification. The COD/TKN ratio of 6-14 at all HRTs, COD/TP ratio of 30-50 at an HRT of 1 day and proper buffering capacity and pH of the effluent from the anaerobic fixed bed could be adequate substrate condition in the following nitrogen and phosphorus removal. In conclusion, when AFB was operated at an HRT less than 1 day, the system could be optimized to reach an efficient anaerobic pretreatment for swine wastewater and the subsequent biological nutrient removal.

        1997~2001년 제주도 고산지역 PM2.5 미세분진의 오염 특성

        PM_(2.5) fine particles have been collected at the Gosan measurement station in Jeju Island, and the major water-soluble components have been analyzed in order to investigate the aerosol compositions and pollution characteristics. The mean concentrations of the components were in the order of SO₄²^(-) > NH₄^(-) > NO₃^(-) >Na¹ > K > Cl^(-) > Ca²^(+) > Mg²^(+). The major components were SO₄²^(-), NH₄^(-) and NO₃^(-), whose compositions were 58%, 18% and 10% of the total ions, respectively. Most of the components showed higher concentrations in spring season, and especially Ca²^(+), NO₃^(-) and SO₄²^(-) concentrations were increased 2.8, 1.9 and 1.2 times higher than the annual mean concentrations. The most parts of SO₄²^(-) and NH₄^(-) were distributed in the particles below 2.1μm size, but the Ca²^(+), Na^(+) and Cl^(-) showed relatively higher concentrations in coarse particles. Based on the factor analysis, the PM_(2.5) line particles were considered to be largely influenced by anthropogenic sources, and followed by sea salt and soil sources. In the variations of concentrations as a function of wind direction. Most components have shown higher concentrations natably as the northwesterly prevails.

        레진모형근관에서 엔진구동형 및 수동형 ProTaper 파일로 근관성형 후 근관형태 변화에 대한 비교연구

        본 연구는 형태 및 재질이 동일한 엔진구동형 ProTaper 파일과 수동형 ProTaper 파일을 이용하여 레진모형근관을 성형한 후 근관형태 변화를 비교 분석하고자 시행되었다. 본 연구에서는 레진모형근관으로 총 40개의 J자와 S자의 근관형태가 재현된 ENDO-TRAINING BLOC을 사용하였다. 근관 성형 기구로는 엔진구동형 Ni-Ti 파일로 ProTaper^(TM), 수동형 Ni-Ti 파일로 ProTaper^(®) For Hand Use를 사용하였다. 사용된 레진모형근관과 파일의 종류에 따라 10개씩 4개의 그룹으로 나누어 근관성형을 시행하였다. 근관 성형 전 · 후 이미지를 스캐너 (Color scanner, UMAX Techologies, Inc., USA)를 이용하여 얻은 후, Photoshop 7.0 프로그램 (Adobe System Inc., USA)을 이용하여 이미지를 중첩하였다. 이미지 분석 프로그램 (Image-Pro^(®) Plus, Media Cybernetic, USA)을 이용하여 치근단 쪽에서부터 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 및 7 ㎜ 수준에서 근관 성형에 따른 근관의 내측 및 외측 폭경의 변화량, 근관 총폭경의 변화량, 근관 중심축의 변위량을 측정하였다. 또한 근관 성형 시간을 기록하였다. 두 기구 사이의 유의성 검정을 위해 독립 표본 t-검정을 시행하여, 근관 성형 시 수동형 ProTaper 파일에 엔진구동형 ProTaper 파일에 비해 근관 중심축의 변위가 유의하게 덜 일어나며 근관의 원래 형태를 더욱 잘 유지할 수 있지만, 근관 성형시간은 길어질 수 있다는 결론을 얻었다. The purpose of this study was to compare the canal configuration after shaping by ProTaper rotary files and ProTaper hand files in resin simulated canals. Forty resin simulated canals with a curvature of J-shape and S-shape were divided into four groups by 10 blocks each. Simulated root canals in resin block were prepared by ProTaper rotary files and ProTaper hand files using a crown-down pressureless technique. All simulated canals were prepared up to size #25 file at end-point of preparation. Pre- and post-instrumentation images were recorded with color scanner. Assessment of canal shape was completed with an image analysis program. Measurements were made at 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 ㎜ from the apex. At each level, outer canal width, inner canal width, total canal width, and amount of transportation from original axis were recorded. Instrumentation time was recorded. The data were analyzed statistically using independent t-test. The result was that ProTaper hand files cause significantly less canal transportation from original axis of canal body and maintain original canal configuration better than ProTaper rotary files, however ProTaper hand files take more shaping time.
