        The paper describes a CMOS analog circuit design tool, K_ACD(Kumoh_Analog Circuits Designer), and design results. The K_ACD was developed for automatic design of fundamental analog circuit blocks such as comparator, unbuffered OP AMP, and buffered OP AMP. For given specifications and process parameters, it computes bias currents, transistor sizes, voltage gain, and power dissipation, then SPICE simulations are automatically carried out. Some design examples show usefulness of the K_ACD in analog circuit designs.

Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 244-254, 1999.-Obesity can be defined as a metabolic disease due to an increased state of fat tissues caused by an imbalance of calorie intake and use. Recently, in Korea by improvement and westernization of food intake, along with decrease in exercise activities, the prevalence of obesity has increased greatly. Our objectives were to study stability and effects of decrease in body fat by administering red ginseng compound preparation (known to have body fat decreasing effects in laboratory animals) to obesity patients on low calorie diets. Changes in weight and body fat were measured while carrying out calorie-restricted diets on patients for 4 weeks, then administering red ginseng compound preparation for another 4 weeks. The patients were 20 people whose BMI were 25kg/㎡ or over and whose percent body fat was also 30% or over when tested by bioelectrical conductivity. 1. Changes in weight were from 70.04kg(base line) to 67.43kg(after taking red ginseng compound preparation). 2. In similar sense, BMI decreased from 27.12kg/㎡(base line) to 26.56kg/㎡(after dieting), and further to 26.01kg/㎡ (after taking red ginseng compound preparation). The BMI seemed to decrease significantly compared to the baseline after the use of red ginseng compound. 3. Waist hip ratio was changed from 0.8858(base line) to 0.8728, but it was statistically insignificant. 4. The percent body fat was 35,16%(base line), 33.87%(after dieting), and 31.68%(after taking red ginseng compound preparation). 5. Complete blood cell count and blood chemisrty remained unaffected by the administration. 6. In concern to endocrinologic studies, T3 decreased from 118.7 to 98.2ng/dL, and T4 increased from 8.8 to 9.2㎕/ dL. Epinephrine showed a tendency to decreased from 0.27 to 0.25 ng/mL, and norepinephrine increased from 0.39 to 0.44ng/mL. 7. Leptin was not changed. 8. Some patients complained adverse effects; constipation(5 patients, may be due to diet therapy), fatigue (2 patients), pruritus(2 patients), flushing(s patients), dizziness(3 patients) and epigastric discomfort(2 patients). However their symptoms were mild, so medication did not stopped. In conclusion, loss of weight without significant side effects was observed during low calorie diet and red ginseng compound preparation administration. This is thought to be in relation to sympathetic nerve system rather than adrenal gland. Also, further long0term studies should be required, since the observed results were based on short-term changes in weight.

        The diagnostic requirements were suggested and explained regarding the systems of differentiation of symptoms and signs in the second year study of standardization and unification of the terms and conditions used for diagnosis in oriental medicine. The systems were as follows; - differential diagnosis according to condition of body fluid, differentiation of syndromes according to the state of qi and blood, differential diagnosis according to relative excessiveness or deficiency of yin and yang(氣血陰陽津液辨證) - differentiation of diseases according to pathological changes of the viscera and their interrelation - analyzing and differentiating of febrile diseases in accordance with the theory of the six channels(傷寒辨證) The individual diagnosis pattern was arranged by the diagnostic requirements in the following order : another name(異名), notion of diagnosis pattern, index of differentiation of symptoms and signs(辨證指標), the main point of diagnosis, analysis of diagnosis pattern(證候分析), discrimination of diagnosis pattern(證候鑑別), a way of curing a diseases(治法), prescription(處方), herb in common use(常用藥物), diseases appearing the diagnosis pattern(常見疾病), documents(文獻調査). This study was carried out on the basis of the Chinese documents and references.

      • 인삼액이 알코올 투여 흰쥐의 효소활성에 미치는 영향

        The S.D. rats were classified with four groups: ethanol-treated group, ginseng-treated group which was pretreated with ethanol, ginseng-treated group and ethanol-treated group which was pretreated with ginseng. Then enzyme activities such as γ-GTP, Alk phosphatase and amylase had been measured in serum, hepatic and renal tissue. The descriptions were based on the analysis of samples collected by 5 days interval for25 days. The following results were obtained. 1. The changes of serum γ-GTP, Alk phosphatase and amylase were significantly increased in ethanol-treated group, decreased in ginseng-treated group which was pre treated with ethanol except amylase, amylase activity was especially decreased in ginseng-treated group. 2. The changes of hepatic γ-GTP, Alk phosphatase and amylase were significantly increased in ethanol-treated group, decreased in ginseng-treated group which was pretreated with ethanol except amylase, amylase activity was especially decreased in ginseng-treated group. 3. The changes of renal γ-GTP, Alk phosphatase and amylase were significantly increased in ethanol-treated group, decreased in ginseng-treated group which was pretreated with ethanol except amylase, amylase activity was especially decreased in ethanol-treated group which was pretreated with ginseng. Based on these results, it suggested that ethanol increased the concentrations of γ-GTP, Alk phosphatase and amylase but ginseng suppressed the hepatotoxic effect by ethanol.

      • 익산시 고등학생의 식습관 및 군것질 행동에 관한 연구

        The aim of this study was to investigate the behaviors of Self-Purchasing Snack(SPS) and the related factors. So, I've investigated and analyzed the general dietary habits and the eating behaviors related to SPS, the subjects of which were 300 high school students living in Iksan(150 boys, 150 girls). The result was as follows. Of going without meal per meal, breakfast 70%, lunch 35.7%, and dinner 50.7% turned out to do it more than three or four times a week and SPS rate of girls was higher than that of boys(P<0.05). I think busy daily schedule lead to irregular dietary habit by making breakfast skipped and this increases the frequency of having junk food and is linked to the cause of skipping lunch or dinner. Also being the loss of appetite, of the reasons for going without meals, took up the most rate and 21.0% of the girls turned to go without meals to help control their weight. For an unbalanced diet, there is no difference between boys and girls, 67.7% of whom turned to have an unbalanced diet more than three or four times and taste(53.2%), of the reason for it, took up the highest rate. For the pace of meal, 53.2% of boys and girls turned to eat quickly. I guess the short mealtime must be the practice because of early school attendance time and pressing lesson. For overeating or not, 24.0% of the subjects responded overeating and boys turned to overeat more than girls(p<0.05). For the frequency of eating between meals, 34.0% of the subjects responded that they did it once or twice a week. Because the increase of eating between meals raised concerns that it may be linked to irregular dietary habit, special education is required at school and at home. For the time of eating between meals, 67.7% of the subjects responded when wanting to eat and the response of girls were higher than that of boys(p<0.05). The place for eating between meals turned to be supermarket(55.6%), the store before the school(20.7%), the store of selling powdered food(16.0%). As preferred junk food, sweet stuff(34.3%) turned to be the most, ramyeon(27.7%), bread(22.3%), milk and dairy products(9.3%). Among boys ramyeon(22.3%) was the most and among girls sweet stuff(24.3%) the most. The rest turned to be similar by and large(p<0.05). When they select junk food, they considered taste(44.3%), mood at the time(23.7%), price(20.0%). For the reason for eating between meals, 53.3% of the subjects responded 'hunger'. I guess this is because of the result of the irregular dietary habit. Throughout the above result, we can see our youth's dietary habit and ways to select junk food be wrong. Therefore, I think policy consideration and nutritional education must be supported at a national level as well as at home to create their right dietary life environment or dietary habit, and to help select junk food properly.

      • 비만을 동반한 위암 환자에서 두 병을 같이 수술 치료한 경험(증례)

        Obesity is growing problem in Korea. We had a case of bariatric surgery during gastric cancer operation. Patient was 29 year old Korean lady with early gastric cancer located in the lesser curvature side of the middle 1/3 of the stomach. Her body weight was 89 kg, height 163 cm, and thus body mass index was 33.5 kg/m2. Preoperative blood pressure was 130/90 mmHg, hemoglobin 12.9 g/dL, total lymphocyte count 3,280/mL, serum albumin 4.3 g/dL, CEA 1.1 ng/mL, CA 19-9 9.1 ng/mL, and alpha fetoprotein 2 ng/mL. Another associated disease was right thyroid follicular neoplasm. The chest X-ray was normal. After IM injection of 2,500 units of heparin 30 minutes before the induction of general anesthesia, she received curative subtotal gastrectomy and Roux en Y gastrojejunostomy when a malabsorption loop of 120 cm jejunum was incorporated between the Treitz ligament and the end to side jejuno-jejunostmy site at May 29th 2006. Her postoperative course was uneventful except a minor wound seroma and the elevations of serum amylase(up to 4 folds) and lipase(up to 2 folds). She lost her body weight 9 kg in 5th, 21 kg in 7th, and 27 kg in 10th postoperative months to became 61.5 kg. On follow up exams in July 2008, she gained 4 kg to overcome her weakness and fatigue. From the above result, the incorporation of a malabsorption loop during reconstruction phase of gastric cancer operation was a good option for obese gastric cancer patients especially in cases of early gastric cancer.

        의약분업 전후의 의약정보서비스의 질의응답과 질의자의 만족도 분석

        Drug Information Centers(DICs) are responsible for providing updated and relevant drug information on the efficacy, safety and quality of drugs to health-care practitioners and finally to patients. After the establishment of new prescription law(Bunup)' on August 2000, the future direction for DICs is strongly needed to provide specified, appropriate and rapid information to health-card practitioners and patients. This project was undertaken to provide a future direction of DICs via comparing differences of Q&A before and after Bunup, based on the analysis of Q&A worksheets that were conducted from August 1999 to July 2001 at Drug Information Research Institute(DIRI) of Sookmyung Women's University. In addition, feedback sheets were collected from the users of DIRI from April 2001 to August 2001, to evaluate the satisfaction scores by '5-point Likert scale' on the response. The number of inquiries responded by DIRI was increase from 201 to 574 and the most frequently asked inquirers were pharmacists, specifically community pharmacists. The mean time to respond before and after Bunup was 5.35 and 4.68 hours, respectively. The method of inquiry utilized the most was electronic mailing system followed by telephone both before and after Bunup(66.2% vs. 65.7% via e-mail, from 32.8% vs. 32.4% via telephone). The most frequently asked category of question was on the 'clinical drug' category both before and after Bunup (79% vs. 73.6%). The tertiary literature was the most frequently used reference to answer the inquiries. Mean feedback result via questionnaires was good. That included accuracy, quality of information, time to respond, attitude of provider, accessibility, etc. The most increased inquirer after Bunup was general person, compared with before. Therefore DICs should provide separate responds according to inquirers, develop the systemic program to improve the response for each request, have systemic Q&A worksheet, and develop the educational program for drug information providers. DICs should continuously provide more appropriate and rapid information to health-care practitioners and patients.

      • 알코올 및 인삼액이 효소활성도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        This study was investigated for the change of r-GTP, CPK activity and CPK-isoenzyme by alcohol and Ginseng administration, The normal white S.D rats were classified with four groups; ethanol treated was group A, ethanol pretreated group combined pretreated with Ginseng extract was group B, Ginseng extract treated was group C, and Ginseng extract treated group combined pretreated with ethanol was group D. The white rats of four groups were treated with 20%, 30%, 40% ethanol and/or 1% Ginseng extract. Then enzyme activities such as r-GTP, CPK and CPK-isoenzyme had been measared in serum, hepatic, and renal tissues. The sample was collected by 5 day intervalus for 25 days. The following results were obtained. 1. The changes of serum r-GTP activities were significantly increased in ethanol-treated group, decreased in Ginseng-treated group. 2. The changes of hepatic r-GTP activites were significantly increased in ethanol-treated group, decreased in Ginseng-treated group. 3. The changes of renal r-GTP activites were significantly increased in ethanol-treated group, decreased in ginseng-treated group. 4. The changes of serum CPK activites were significantly increased in ethanol-treated group, decreased in ginseng-treated group. 5. The changes of hepatic and renal tissue CPK activites were not significant. 6. The changes of serum and hepatic tissue CPK-isoengyme were significantly increased in ethanol-treated group, decreased in ginseng-treated group combined pretreated with ethanol. 7. The changes of CPK-isoengyme, CPK 1 and CPK 2 were not significant.
