Very little research has been carried out on safflower seed for the prevention and treatment of the bone deficiency diseases, including osteoporosis, which are supported by scientific evidences. In the present study, 3μl of 0.1% dried crude extract or 2μl of 0.1% dried aqueous fraction were shown to significantly accelerate the rate of differentiation of osteoblast. Also, the crude extract and aqueous fraction increased the [Ca2+]i of the cultured osteoblast cells: 3μl of 0.1% dried crude extract and 2μl of 0.1% dried aqueous fraction significantly increased the [Ca2+]i of the cultured osteoblast cells (8×104) to the extent that it deserves a considerable attention. Furthermore, the crude extract and aqueous fraction increased the [Ca2+]i of the cultured osteoblast cells, and 300μM Cd2+, specific calcium channel blocker, completely blocked the increase. Therefore, the increased [Ca2+]i of the cultured osteoblast cells by safflower seed component continued to activate calcium channel.

To further understand the significance of bone as a target tissues of lead toxicity, as well as a reservoir of systemic lead, it is necessary to define the effect of lead on the calcium release activated calcium influx (CRACI) in primary cultures of human osteoblast-like cells (OLC). Pb2+ inhibited the immediate CRACI dose-dependent manner. Influx of Pb2+ into human OLC was increased dose-dependent manner. The present study demonstrates that the interference of Pb2+ with CRACI of human OLC is at least twofold: (1) the initiation of CRACI, i.e., the measurable influx of Ca2+ upon Ca2+ readdition, is partially inhibited by Pb2+ and (2) the influx of Pb2+ was enhanced after CRACI had been induced.

The aim of this study was to provide the basis to further examine the mode of action of ethanol. Fluorescent probes reported to have different membrane mobilities were used to evaluate the effect of dimyristoylphosphatidylethanol (DMPEt) on the lateral and rotational mobilities of liposome lipid bilayers. An experimental procedure, based on the selective quenching of 1,6- diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (DPH) and 1,3-di(1-pyrenyl)propane (Py-3-Py) by trinitrophenyl groups, was used. DMPEt increased the bulk lateral and rotational mobilities, and had a greater fluidizing effect on the outer than the inner monolayer. These effects of DMPEt on liposomes may be responsible for some, but not all, of the general anesthetic actions of ethanol.
CCl₄로 誘發한 흰쥐의 肝損傷에 미치는 補肝湯ㆍ瀉肝湯의 影響

肝은 經口的으로 投入된 많은 化學物質이나 藥物들에 의해 影響을 받으며 이들의 毒性이나 濃度 등에 의하여 肝損傷이 오고 그 損傷의 機轉 또한 多樣하다. 補肝湯과 瀉肝湯을 경구투여한 후 細胞損傷機轉이 비교적 분명히 밝혀진 CCI₄로 肝損傷을 誘發시켜 補肝湯과 瀉肝湯의 肝損傷에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 血淸中의 glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, glutamic pyruvic transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase의 活性度와 total cholesterol, triglyceride 含量을 測定한 結果, GOT 活性上昇과 GPT 活性上昇에 대해서는 補肝湯投與群과 瀉肝湯投與群 모두 有意한 抑制效果가 認定되었다. ALP 活性上昇과 LDH 活性上昇에 대해서는 補肝湯投與群과 瀉肝湯投與群 모두 抑制傾向은 나타내었으나 有意性은 補肝湯投與群에서만 認定되었다. Total cholesterol 含量의 減少와 Triglyceride 含量의 減少에 대해서는 補肝湯投與群과 瀉肝湯投與群 모두 增加傾向은 나타내었으며 有意性은 補肝湯投與群에서만 認定되었다. 그러므로 補肝湯은 肝損傷을 豫防하는 作用이 강하며, 肝損傷을 誘發하는 다른 물질과의 比較實驗이 시행되어야 할 것으로 생각된다. In this paper, the effects of Bogan-Tang and Sagan-Tang on the change of serum GOT, GPT, ALP, LDH activities and total cholestel, triglyceride levels induced by CCl₄ were investigated in rats. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The increases of serum GOT activities in rats were inhibited significantly by the Bogan-Tang and Sagan-Tang. 2. The increases of serum GPT activities in rats were inhibited significantly by the Bogan-Tang and Sagan-Tang. 3. The increases of serum ALT activities in rats were inhibited significantly by the Bogan-Tang. 4. The increases of serum LDH activities in rats were inhibited significantly by the Bogan-Tang. 5. The increases of serum total cholesterol levels in rats were inhibited significantly by the Bogan-Tang. 6. The increases of serum triglyceride levels in rats were inhibited significantly by the Bogan-Tang. Judging from the above results, it is considered that Bagan-Tang has protective effect against hepatic injury.
조기영어교육이 대학생의 영어능력에 미치는 효과에 관한 연구

A master's thesis. The purpose of this study is to investigate what the effect on early childhood English education is for university students' English skills, what educational media help their English skills, and what effects are derived by interest and concern on English in students' past experience. The subjects of this study are 22 students in 2 universities in C area, Chungbuk province. The studying method was a questionnaire English majors and other ones. Additionally, an individual interview was performed to 20 students among 209 investigations. In conclusion, it is shown that early childhood English education positively affects students' English skills through English workbooks, private academies and tutoring. Furthermore, we can confirm that students' constant interest and concern for English from childhood was important to decide their way in the future.
