      • Histone deacetylase 3 is selectively involved in L3MBTL2-mediated transcriptional repression

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>This is the first report that L(3)mbt-like 2 (L3MBTL2) specifically interacts with the histone deacetylase domain of histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) via its MBT domain. Here, we show that L3MBTL2 selectively interacts with HDAC3, but not other class I HDACs. An in vitro peptide-binding assay demonstrated the specific association of HDAC3 with methylated histone-K20 tail and L3MBTL2. Furthermore, depletion of HDAC3 resulted in a decrease of methylated K20-H4, as well as an increase in acetylated histone H3. Consequently, HDAC3 knock-down selectively suppressed L3MBTL2-mediated transcriptional repression.         축구선수의 Detraining과 Retraining이 혈청지질 및 호르몬농도에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of detraining and retraining on serum lipid and hormones in soccer players. Subjects were seven male high-school soccer players. V˙O_2max was determined for each subjects by administering a treadmill test(initial speed: 90m/min, grade: 5%, increasing speed per 3 min: 30m/min). Serum lipid(T-C, TG, HDL-C LDL-C) and hormones(epinephrine, norepinephrine, growth hormones, cortisol) were assayed pre and post detraining in 10, 20, 30 days after retraining. The repeated ANOVA was used to determine significant differences. The 0.05 level of significance was as critical level for the study. The results of the study were as follows: 1. V˙O_2max(ml/min) were 3576.3±204.2ml/min pre detraining, 3234.1±198.9 ml/min post detraining. There are significant(p<.05) difference between pre and post detraining. In 10, 20, 30 days after retraining, V˙O_2max(ml/min) were 3601.4±170.9 ml/min. There were significantly(p<.05) increased in retraining periods. 2. V˙O_2max(ml/kg/min) were significantly(p<.05) decreased from 62.3±2.9 ml/kg/min to 55.9±4.7 ml/kg/min in detraining. In 10, 20, 30 days after retraining, V˙O_2max(ml/kg/min) were 62.4±3.4ml/kg/min, 62.7±2.3ml.kg/min, 67.3±7.2ml/kg/min respectively. There were significantly(p<.05) increased in retraining periods. 3. T-C were significantly (p<.05) increased from 166.6±8.5mg/dl to 175.3±10.3 mg/dl in detraining. In 10, 20, 30 days after retraining, T-C were 160.1± 3.2mg/dl, 156.7±3.7mg/dl, 140.3±9.0mg/dl. There were significantly(p<.05) decreased in retraining periods. 4. HDL-C were 61.4±6.6mg/di pre detraining, 5.3±6.6mg/dl post detraining. There are significant(p<.05) difference between pre and post detraining. In 10, 20, 30 days after retraining, HDL-C were 56.9±7.1mg/dl, 56.4±9.2mg/dl, 57.7±9.1mg/dl respectively. There were no significant difference in retraining periods. 5. The hormones(epinephrine. norepinephrine, growth hormone, cortisol) were changed as same patterns. Epinephrine were 26.0±7.0[g/ml pre detraining, 24.6±3.2pg/ml post detraining. In 10, 20, 30 days after retraining, epinephrine were 26.9±5.6pg/ml, 30.6±6.2pg/ml, 29.4±5.6pg/ml respectively. There were no significant difference in retraining periods. In conclusion, HDL-C, epinephrine, norepinephrine, growth hormone and cortisol were decreased, T-C, LDL-C and TG were increased in detraining. But HDL-C, epinephrine, norepinephrine, growth hormone and cortisol were increased, T-C, LDL-C and TG were decreased in retraining.

        This study consists in clarifying the meaning of various angles and velocity, and two types of the stroke of a pushing shot and hitting shot through the three-dimensional image analyses among the factors of exercise. To attain the purpose of such studies, the result of experiment and analysis for each of three athletes of boys and girls in high school and three persons in general came to the conclusion as follows; 1. The last motion of a group of A having a command of a follow shot showed greatly, compared with two groups of B and C, and this showed that a group of A took a rectilinear motion greatly to gain power and two group of B and C took a rotary motion greatly to gain speed. 2. A group of A having a command of a pushing shot move body weight forward from behind and give the first consideration to a rectilinear motion, and two groups of B and C having a command of the stroke of hitting shot used the turning of the shoulder and the waist and gave much weight to a rotary motion than a rectilinear one. 3. The position of the hitting point of a group of A having a command of a pushing shot turned out to be the waist, and that of the hitting point of two groups of B and C, the chest, and namely this showed that the position of the hitting point was decided according to the form of the stroke and pictures of various kinds. 4.       • 남중 육상경기 선수의 Foot Ratio와 체력과의 상관

        Foot ratio and physical fitness were measured and multiple-compared in the level of P<.05 on the subject of 28 prize winners from Men's part of middle school in the field and track events of the "P" youth athletic tournament in 1998 and 7 general students adopted by random sampling. These are conclusions from the result of relative analysis of foot length measured by X-ray, Medial longitudinal arch's height, foot ratio and physical fitness in the level of P<.05. 1. No significance was discovered in FR but throwing group is better than medium and long distance group. 2. Flexibility and endurance have meaning in physical fitness. The short distance group has better flexibility than the medium and long, throwing and general one. And medium and long distance/ throwing group have better endurance than general one. 3. FR and physical fitness show a negative correlation in the muscular strength of throwing group.

        비만 개선 효과를 지닌 탄수화물 및 지방 흡수 억제 기능성 식이조성물 개발

        In a previous study, we developed a new food additive as an egg yolk antibody (IgY) against carbohydrate digestion enzymes for the regulation of blood glucose level and weight control. The IgY delayed and decreased the increment of blood glucose level after administration of sucrose in human being by 30% in 20∼30 min. We also developed a lipase inhibitor as a water extract of two kinds of herb, Platycodon grandiflorum and Solanum melongena. Twenty three volunteers were subjected to the intake of the egg yolk IgY plus the herbal extracts for 50 days. In average, the treated subjects appeared to lose 1.96 ㎏ of body weight and 3.4 ㎏ of body fat mass during the treated period. Furthermore, Panniculus adiposus and breech size were significantly decreased during the experimental period. Above results suggested that the administration of the dietary additives composed of egg yolk IgY and natural herbal extract improve the obesity by the decrement of body weight and body fat mass.

      • 김치의 제조 및 유통중 가스발생 방지에 관한 연구

        대량생산을 위한 김치의 산업화에 있어서 가장 큰 문제점인 유통시의 산패현장과 포장팽대 및 파손을 지연시켜 김치의 저장기간을 연장하고자 이산화탄소 흡수능력을 가진 물질을 가스흡수제로 처리하여 저장중 김치의 품질을 검토하였다. 품질평가를 위한 측정항목은 pH, 산도, 색상, 이산화탄소 함량 및 젖산균수 그리고 총균수를 측정하였다. 수산화칼륨, 수산화칼슘, 수산화나트륨과 같은 알칼리물질과 연화마그네슘, 염화칼슘과 같은 염화합물을 가스흡수제로 사용한 결과, 수산화칼륨과 수산화나트륨처리구가 타처리구에 비해 pH의 감소가 적었으며, 또한 산도의 증가가 다소 낮았다. 수산화칼륨과 수산화나트륨을 각각 0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75% 세단계의 농도로 처리한 결과 pH와 산도에 있어서 수산화칼륨처리구가 수산화나트륨처리구에 비해 높은 pH와 낮은 산도를 나타내었다. 또한 각 처리구의 농도에 따라 큰 차이가 나타나지 않아 간편성과 경제적인 면, 그리고 시각적인 면을 고려해 볼 때 0.25% 수산화칼륨처리구가 탄산가스흡수에 의해 김치의 저장기간을 연장하는데 다소 효과를 보였다. PE bag으로 포장된 수산화칼슘과 PE flim(0.02㎜)으로 포장한 0.25% 수산화칼륨을 가스흡수제로 사용하여 무처리구와 비교하여 저장중 김치의 품질을 검토하였다. 저장중 0.25% 수산화칼륨처리구와 시판용 김치의 가스흡수제인 수산화칼슘처리구를 비교할 때, 수산화칼륨처리구가 무처리구에 비해 pH 및 산도의 차이가 컸으며, 김치의 조직과 국물속에 용해되어 있는 이산화탄소의 함량도 적었다. 그리고 총균수에 있어서 타처리구에 비해 수산화칼륨처리구가 높은 값을 나타내었다. When kimchi was manufactured and circulated, largest question is rancidity phenomenon and packing swelling. This study was conducted to prevent these phenomenon and prolong the shelf-life of kimchi. KOH, NaOH, Ca(OH)_2, MgCl_(2), and CaCl_(2) were used to gas-absorbent. The pH of kimchi used KOH, NaOH was higher than the others. The acidity of kimchi used KOH, NaOH was lower than the others. The concentration of KOH, NaOH was 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%. The decrease of pH and increase of acidity that kimchi dealt with KOH were lower than kimchi used NaOH. There in no significant difference in concentration of gas-absorbent. Comparision of kimchi used 0.25% KOH and Ca(OH)_2. Ca(OH)_2 packaged PE bag and 0.25% KOH packaged PE film(0.02㎜) were used to gas-absorbent. On comparision to control, kimchi dealt with 0.25% KOH was higher than kimchi used Ca(OH)_2 at pH and acidity. The CO_(2) contents of kimchi dealt with 0.25% KOH was lowest. The number of total microbe kimchi dealt with 0.25% KOH was highest.

        Sports technology encompasses a wide range of disciplines from biomechanics to engineering. As a consequence, researchers working in sports technology find that their work falls neither in the field of traditional sports nor in mainstram engineering. Also Sports Engineering is an international journal publishing original papers on the application of engineering and science to sport. The journal intends to fill the niche area which lies between classical engineering and sports science and aims to bride the gap between the analysis of the equipment and of the athlete. Area of interest include the mechanics and dynamics of sport, the analysis of movement, instrument equipment design, surface interaction, materials and modeling. These topics may be applied to technology in almost any sports. The Sports Engineering will be of particular interest to Engineering, Physics, Mathematics and Sports Science Departments and The International Sport Engineering Association(ISEA) will act forum where research, industry and the sports sector can exchange knowledge and innovative ideas.
