        Magnesium carbonate hydroxide (hydrotalcite) was synthesized to pursue the optimum conditions having the highest acid consuming capacity by a Box-Wilson experimental design, and micromeritical properties of samples were evaluated by laser particle size analyzer, SRD, BET system, mercury porosimeter, and several adsorption capacity test. The optimum preparation conditions for hydrotalcite were as followwws: concentration of aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide 1.17mole, reaction temp. 82.6℃, reaction time 2.32hr, ratio of (Al(OH)_3/Mg(OH)_2 4.25, drying temperature 93.2℃ respectively, and its acid consuming capacity was 286ml/g. the neutralization curve shows that sample whose acid consuming capacity was the highest has the best neutralizing capacity and duration capacity. The crystalline form of the synthesized hydrotalcite was identified with a hexagonal system, and the d (003) spacing value of three samples was large. a part of alumina crystal form was shown at 2θ=18°, 38° in sample 3. The micromeritical properties of the synthesized hydrotalcite has no relation with an acid consuming capacity, and there was a tendency that the higher the acid consuming capacity is the larger the particle size and the narrower the size distribution. The values of pore invasive volume, pore area and specific surface area of sample 1 were small among three samples. Isotherm by BET system forms hyteresis loop and it shows the synthesized hydrotacite was porous. the pore diameter was about 10Å and it verifies mesopore. The adsorption capacity measured by methylene blue has no relation with acid consuming capacity. The adsorption of quinine sulfate in aqueous solutuion was identical with the Langmuir isotherm.

        We have encountered a rare case of symmetrical peripheral gangrene complicating Escherichia coli sepsis in a 47-years-old male. He was successfully treated with antibiotics, anticoagulants, and vasodilator. To our knowledge, this is the first report on symmetrical peripheral gangrene complicating E. coli sepsis in Korea.

        환기정도에 따른 수술실용 신발 종류가 수술실 오염에 미치는 영향 : How to Choose Suitable Shoes?

        Background : Various types of protective footwear have been used to minimize bacterial contamination in operating rooms. In recent years, debate has arisen concerning the need for use of such protective footwear. This study was designed to provide useful data about choosing shoes most suitable for the surgical environment. Methods : Between November, 1999 and January, 2000, we performed this experimental study by comparing effect of three types of shoes (i.e., disposable shoescover, operating room-restricted shoes, and ordinary shoes) on bacterial contamination of operating rooms equipped with two different ventilation systems (i.e., high air-change, low air-change) respectively. Data were collected during two-hour sham operations in which subjects and their activities were strictly standardized. Bacterial flora were sampled from the study area floor and air colony-counts were measured. Results : In experiments involving high air-change ventilation system, there was a significant difference of floor contamination between three types of shoes, but no difference of air contamination. Under low air-change system, there was a significant difference of both floor and air contamination between three types of shoes. Conclusion : The results show that protective footwear would be unnecessary in the operating room with high air-change ventilation system, but it is important to choose suitable shoes carefully under low air-change system. Therefore, the use of outdoor shoes can be considered under high air-change system, but it would seem sensible to apply their first use in less bloody operations at the day surgery center or out-patient department to prevent transfer of body fluid into the outside environment.

        Electropulsing Treatment on Enhancement of Electrical Conductivity of Screen-Printed Ag Wire

        The effect of high electric current density on the sintering of Ag wires manufactured by screen printing is evaluated throughelectrical resistivity analysis and microstructure observation. Different forms (continuous and pulsed) of electric currentwith different current densities are applied to the specimens. Conventional heat treatment is also performed as a controlgroup to examine the athermal effect of electropulsing treatment. Compared to the conventional heat treatment, the resistivityis reduced more under the electropulsing treatment with continuous current for the same temperature and treatment time.Also, the process time of electropulsing treatment can be reduced by applying a pulse form of high density current insteadof continuous current without losing the benefit of enhanced reduction of resistivity. The microstructural observationsobtained from high angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscope and a digital precession instrumentclearly show that necking connecting the crystals is formed more firmly under electric current. In addition, the temperaturechange of Ag wire and substrate is calculated according to the change of the resistivity when the electric current is appliedto confirm the reliability.

        김치에서 분리한 Lactobacillus plantarum KM214 균주에 의한 인공치태 형성 억제효과

        For the control of dental plaque by the use of lactic acid bacteria(LAB), LAB from Kimchi sample was isolated on Rogosa SL or MRS agar plates and tested for the inhibitory effect on the formation of atrificial plaque by Beaker-wire test. One strain inhibiting artificial plque was selected and identified. The effects on the formation of artificial plaque and the multiplication of Streptococcus mutans were also studied. 1. Among 456 isolates from 154 Kimchi sampels, KM214 strain was isolated. 2. KM214 strain inhibited the fromation of artficial plaque by Streptococcus mutans upto 71% when compared to the control(p<0.001). 3. KM214 strain inhibited the synthesis of insoluble glucan by S.mutans upto 79% when compared to the control(pM0.001). 4. KM214 strain had little effect on the multiplication of S.mutans. 5. The formation of artificial plaque by S.mutans was inhibited upto 50% by the additionof cluture supematant of KM214 when compared to the control(p<0.001). 6. The isolated strain was identified as Lactobacillus plantarum and named as Lac. plantarum KM214 on the basis of cultural, physiological, biochemical characteristics and carbohydrates fermentation patterns.

        여자 500m 쇼트트랙 스피드 스케이팅의 스타트 기술분석

The purpose of this study is to identify female 500m sprint start motion by the center of gravity position in short track speed skating. The center of gravity position ratio was divided into three type(type A front : 80%-back : 20%, type B front : 70%-back : 30%, type C front: 50%-back : 50%). Three video cameras were used for 3D motion analysis with DLT method and the results were as follows: The elapsed time in starting motion was appeared that type B was the shortest and type A was the longest. It was appear that the stroke length of type A was longer than that type B and C during starting phase. This result was similar to displacement of center of gravity. It was appeared that skill type of center of gravity position ratio type B' ankle and knee joint angle were lower than that of type A and C. Observing these results it was conclusion that skill type B of center of gravity position ratio was more faster than that of type A and C. But it is important that these skill type needed to verifying more subjects.

      • Electrostatic Force Microscopy Plasmid DNA의 전기적 특성 관찰

        p53HIS plasmid DNA를 운모 기판에 착상시켜 기판과 DNA 사이의 전기적인 특성을 electrostatic force microscope(EFM)와 atomic force microscope(AFM)을 이용하여 관찰하였다. DNA를 운모 기판 위에 착상시키기 위해 표면을 NiCl_(2) 용액으로 염 이온 처리했다. 염 이온의 농도에 따라 DNA와 기판과의 상호 작용에 의해 착상량과 DNA 단차 및 EFM 신호(DNA 외관상 단차)에 차이가 있었다. 즉, 염 농도가 높을수록 운모 기판에 고정되어 있는 DNA양이 많아졌고 기판과의 강한 상호 작용에 의해 DNA의 높이가 낮아지는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 반면 EFM신호는 탐침과 기판간의 척력 증가에 의해 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 DNA의 한 부분에 전기적인 스트레스를 주었을 때의 특성을 EFM을 이용하여 분석하였다. We observe electrical characteristics between the plasmid DNA and mica by electrostatic force microscopy (EFM) and atomic force microscope (AFM). Firstly, we treated the mica by NiCl_(2) solution for depositing DNA. We monitored density of DNA molecules, DNA height and EFM signal from DNA-substrate interaction as Ni^(2+) concentration. We observe the plasmid DNA's height as Ni^(2+)concentration using AFM. On the other hand, EFM signal increase by increased repulsion between probe and substrate. After introducing voltage stress to a local area of DNA molecule, apparent height difference of DNA molecules was measured due to the charge injection or removal. Similar experiments were done with different bias polarities and sequential stress steps.

        2단계 발효에 의한 포도식초와 재래식 포도식초의 품질 비교

        Grape vinegar(A) and grape onion vinegar(B) added (3% of onion juice) were produced through two stages of fermentation(alcohol fermentation and acetic acid fermentation) to increase the grape's use. Grape wine which contained 5.6% alcohol was produced on the 3rd day of first stage. Then through the second stages, grape vinegar, of which total acidity was 5.37% was produced. The quality of (A) and (B) which was produced through the two stages of fermentation was compared with the traditional grape vinegar(C,D) in the market. The content of sugar in (D) was a little higher such as 5.4 °Brix than others. That of (A) and (B) was 5.13, 4.98 °Brix respectively. The content of remaining alcohol in (C) was high such as 0.23% comparatively, But there was no remaining alcohol in (A) and (B). The content of acetic acid was 4.3~5.3% as a major organic acid of vinegars. The content of tartaric acid was 340.0 in (A), 316.7 in (B), 322.6 in (C) and 391.7㎎% in (D). The content of lactic acid was distinctly high such as 277.4㎎% in (D). There were differences such as 9.2~15.5㎎% in the content of total free amino acids among grape vinegars. (D) contained 15.5㎎% of total free amino acid and (B) also highly such as 12.0㎎%. Potassium was high in grape vinegars. The content of potassium, sodium and copper was higher in (A) than (B).

        Tetrahydroberberine-13-one was treated with ethylchloroformate to give the C_8-N bond cleaved product 1. On the treatment with Lawesson's reagent (LAS), chloroketone 2 derived from the hydrolysis of 1 afforded the thioketone 3. On the other hand, spirotype-chloroketone 4 was transformed to diaziridine 8 by a reduction, chlorination and aziridine introduction. Also, spirotype-chlorothioketone 6 was obtained from chloroketone 4.

      • 누구를 위한 POCT인가?

        Patient-oriented minds and Bill of Rights have brought a lot of POCTs or Waived Tests, which can obviously be threats to the medical technology profession. However, we cannot help but admit the realities and should take some necessary measures to meet the situation. Accordingly we took a survey to find what opinions medical scientists or nurses have against the POCTs. Most of the scientists worried about the reliabilites of test results while nurses were concerned about the ambiguity of their job entities. Taking account of the POCT nature, the scientists should lead the development of POCT menus and have the primanry responsibility to educate or train the POCT perfomers maitaining periodic QCs on all the procedures or equimpments, not paying much attention to the issues who might be the performers.
