Spindle cell lesions of the urinary bladder are uncommon tumors, and are most often spindle cell (sarcomatoid) carcinomas, non-neoplastic reactive mesenchymal proliferations, or soft tissue sarcomas. Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors (IMTs) may also occur in this location, but IMTs occurring at bladder sites have rarely been described. We experienced a case of IMT of bladder.

Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.
GO-17 : Makorin Ring Finger Protein 1 (MKRN1) as an adjunct marker in liquid-based cervical cytology

목적: The aim of the study was to test the ability of MKRN1 to detect cervical lesion in a screening setting and its use as a surrogate marker of HPV infection. 방법: We conducted PROspective specimen collection and retrospective Blinded Evaluation (PROBE) study. Liquid-based cytology samples were collected from 187 women. A cell block was prepared from residual cervical cytology specimen for immunocytochemistry of MKRN1 and P16 INK4a.Liquid-based cervical cytology, MKRN1, P16 INK4a, P21, P57, KI-67 immunostaining on cell block sections, HPV hybrid capture and real time Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were performed and analyzed with pathologic results.Clinical performances [sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV)] were calculated for all women and subgroup analysis was performed for patients with ASCUS or LSIL. 결과: MKRN1 positivity increased with histologic severity, from 32.4% in CIN1, 60.0% in CIN2, 80.0% in CIN3 to 92.3% in invasive cancer. The sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV of MKRN1 to detect CIN2+ was 73.8%, 76.8% 75.6%, and 75.0%, respectively. However, liquid-based cytology showed poorer clinical performance than MKRN1 immunostaining (61.3%, 69.5%, 66.2% and 64.8%, respectively) and HPV testing had lower specificity than MKRN1 (67.7%). When combining two screening tests, MKRN1 + HPV showed the highest sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV (71.8%, 85.5%, 82.3%, 76.5%, respectively), while there were no significant differences between cytology + HPV (60.6%, 81.8%, 75.4%, 69.2%) and cytology + MKRN1 (58.8%, 84.1%, 78.3%, 67.7%) in all aspects. In cases of ASCUS/LSIL, MKRN1 + HPV (100%, 72.7%, 73.9%, 100%, respectively) showed the best clinical performances followed by MKRN1 + cervical cytology (100%, 50.0%, 60.7%, 100%, respectively). 결론: MKRN1 was more sensitive and specific than liquid-based cytology, and it was more specific than HPV test. Our study showed that MKRN1 + HPV has the highest sensitivity and specificity when combining two diagnostic tests. As part of screening procedure, MKRN1 could be used as a satisfactory biomarker for the primary screening of cervical cytology.

SPH(Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) is based on Lagrangian method and one of the meshless techniques that analyzes the fluid flow. Various research have been conducted on boundary conditions in the SPH method. Integral type boundary conditions is relatively simple method and have been used rather than other method. Boundary particle method also used to get more precise result in various research. In this work, improved integral type boundary condition introduced which is using fictious particle with repulsive wall and application in static and dynamic simulation. Hydrostatic and tank sloshing simulation was performed using to prove this method is stable. It was confirmed that the fluid particle does not penetrate wall boundary and result was physically acceptable.

<P>Although bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs) have been widely used for bone regeneration, the ideal delivery system with optimized dose and minimized side effects is still active area of research. In this study, we developed bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2) immobilized poly(<SMALL>l</SMALL>-lactide) (PLLA) nanofibers inspired by polydopamine, which could be ultimately used as membranes for guided bone regeneration, and investigated their effect on guidance of in vitro cell behavior and in vivo bone formation. Surface chemical analysis of the nanofibers confirmed successful immobilization of BMP-2 mediated by polydopamine, and about 90% of BMP-2 was stably retained on the nanofiber surface for at least 28 days. The alkaline phosphatase activity and calcium mineralization of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) after 14 days of in vitro culture was significantly enhanced on nanofibers immobilized with BMP-2. More importantly, BMP-2 at a relatively small dose was highly active following implantation to the critical-sized defect in the cranium of mice; radiographic analysis demonstrated that 77.8 ± 11.7% of newly formed bone was filled within the defect for a BMP-2-immobilized groups at the concentration of 124 ± 9 ng/cm<SUP>2</SUP>, as compared to 5.9 ± 1.0 and 34.1 ± 5.5% recovery, for a defect-only and a polydopamine-only group, respectively. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy of samples from the BMP-2 immobilized group showed fibroblasts and osteoblasts with nanofiber strands in the middle of regenerated bone tissue, revealing the importance of interaction between implanted nanofibers and the neighboring extracellular environment. Taken together, our data support that the presentation of BMP-2 on the surface of nanofibers as immobilized by utilizing polydopamine chemistry may be an effective method to direct bone growth at relatively low local concentration.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/aamick/2014/aamick.2014.6.issue-14/am501391z/production/images/medium/am-2014-01391z_0011.gif'></P>
