      • 진행성 폐 종양 환자에서 종양 내 OK-432 주입술의 효과

        Background: Intratumoral injection of OK-432 produced significant antitumor effects. There are reports that OK-432 was injected directly into tumor tissue on gastrointestinal tracts and HCC tissue, producing decrease in serum alpha-fetoprotein level. We adopted this technique for treating locally advanced lung cancer. The object of this study is to evaluate the local therapeutic efficacy, side effects of injection for treating symptomatic mass. Methods: Twenty lung cancer patients (13 males and 7 females) underwent sonography guided OK-432 injection. We analyzed relationships between response of OK-432 and response of skin test, histology and age. Pain that patients feel was evaluated by VAS (Visual Analog scale). Results: A significant decrease of tumor size was observed. The mean pre-injection diameter of the lesions was 54.7±11.3mm, PR rate were 15.0% (3/20) and minimal change (50%<tumor size decreased.) patients were 35.0% (7/20). The VAS score before injecting OK-432 into the lesion was 5±3, this was decreased to 2.5±1.5 (p=0.04). Object response was significantly correlated with skin response, adenocarcinoma, and age. Conclusion: A significant decrease of tumor size and pain was observed. So OK-432 is a valuable treatment option for patients with symptomatic lesion from advanced lung cancer who are not amenable to further therapy.

        골수구성 백혈병 환자에게 발생한 결핵성 림프절염

        혈액질환 가운데 결핵 발생이 증가한다고 알려진 것은 호지킨 림프종을 포함한 림프증식성질환 그리고 모양세포성 백혈병 등이 있다. 또한 동종 골수이식을 받은 환자에서도 결핵은 증가한다고 알려져있다. Kaplan 등은 골수구성 백혈병 환자에서 결핵 발생이 증가한다고 보고하였다. 그러나 골수구성 백혈병 환자에서 결핵의 발생이 증가하는 이유에 대해서는 아직까지 정확하게 밝혀지지 않았다. 저자들이 2년 동안 후향적으로 조사한 180명의 성인 골수구성 백혈병 환자들 가운데 결핵이 발생한 환자는 4명이었고, 발생 부위는 모두 림프절이었다. 결핵은 골수구성 백혈병의 특정 아형에만 국한되어 발생하지 않았지만, 50%에서 FAB 분류에 의한 M4였다. 림프절이 종대된 골수구성 백혈병 환자에서 특히, 결핵의 유병율이 높은 나라에서는 결핵성 림프절염도 감별진단에 포함시켜야 한다. During the neutropenic phase, leukemia patients receiving chemotherapy are prone to bacterial and, fungal infections; occasionally mycobacterial, viral and protozoal organisms may also cause infections. Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection was reported very rarely in these patients. This report describes four patients with M. tuberculosis infection identified from 185 adult patients who were diagnosed myelogenous leukemia between January 2003, and December 2004. There was no patient with M. tuberculosis infection from 44 lymphoid leukemia and 11 acute biphenotypic leukemia patients. Sites of infection were all lymph nodes. Three among four patients were presented with lymphadenopathy at initial diagnosis of leukemia, and the other one presented with lymphadenopathy after induction chemotherapy. There was no patient presented with lymphadenopathy during the neutropenic phase. Tuberculous lymphadenitis was presented in a patient with three acute myelogenous leukemia (FAB class 2 M4, 1 M2) and a chronic myelogenous leukemia, accelerated phase. An acute myelogenous leukemia patient had a leukemic cell and tubercle bacilli in the same lymph node. Tuberculosis should also be included as a differential diagnosis in myelogenous leukemia patient with lymphadenopathy, especially in the countries in which the disease is endemic.

        Thin amorphous carbon films were deposited by a Q-switched Nd;YAG 532nm with beam power density of ?? on the high purity graphite (99.7%). The pressure of vacuum chamber was ?? Torr. In order to estimate the quality of the Pulsed Laser Deposition films one of the most important optical properties, bandgap energy, was characterized by transmission and reflection in the range of the visible, and an optical direct bandgap energy of 2.45eV and indirect bandgap energy 0.36eV were obtained. Surface morphology of amorphous film was investigated by AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy). Its surface roughness is 70nm. Comparing our results with the published values in the literature we have confidence that our films show the good quality for optical properties.

      • 장구균의 동정에 대한 PCR 방법의 유용성

        Background : Enterococci are important cause of nosocomial infections. Recently, vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) has been increasingly reported as significant nosocomial pathogens. Therefore, accurate identification of enterococcal species is a prerequisite step for the appropriate antibiotic treatment and epidemiologic surveillance. We wanted to know the usefulness of PCR method compared with Vitek automatic identification system. Methods : Totally 105 isolates were identified on the species level by Vitek (GPI card and software version R06.1), methyl-α -D-glucopyranoside test, and PCR methods. Results : Among 105 enterococcal isolates, 59 were identified as E. faecium, 11 E. faecalis, 6 E. gallinarum by Vitek. But 29 isolates (28%) were unidentified. Subsequently all of these isolates were analyzed by PCR, the results of which were as follows : 17 E. faecium, 5 E. casseliflavus, 7 E. gallinarum. Two isolates identified as E. gallinarum by Vitek were reidentified as E. casseliflavus by PCR and other methods far phenotypic characterization. Conclusoin : PCR method was more accurate and sensitive than Vitek for the identification of enterococci species. (Korean J Infect Dis 33:123∼127, 2001)

        An Evaluation of Poly(L-Lactic Acid) Plate and Screw Systemfor Fixation of Mandible Fracture in Rabbit Model

        Bioabsorbable plates and screws for bone fixation system have been used owing to many advantages over conventional metallic devices. This study investigated the effects and safety of recently developed modifiable bioabsorbable plate and screw made of 100% poly (L-lactic acid) in the healing process of mandible fracture in arabbit model. In vitro extract test for cytotoxicity and bacterial reverse mutation test for genotoxicity were carried out. Any cytotoxicity caused by extract from experiment sample was not observed. In genotoxicity test, increase in the number of revertants was not observed. As an in vivo test, plates and screws were used for rigid fixation of exper-imental mandible fracture in twenty rabbits. Tissue specimens with plate were taken from the rabbits after 4, 6, 8,10 weeks and histological analysis was studied. After 4 weeks, the plate was covered by connective tissue and severe chronic active inflammation in soft tissue was observed. After 6 weeks, absorbed part in plate and new bone forma-tion around periostium and decrease in inflammation were detected. After 10 weeks, new bone formation was observed in all samples and the thickness of bone increased. The remodeling was not complete yet. This study dem-onstrates that recently developed biodegradable plate and screw system made of poly(L-lactic acid) was effective in mandible fracture regions known as high load-bearing areas. This indicates that bioabsorbable poly (L-lactic acid) plates and screws are available for most of bone fractures, although the adjustment process and long-term follow-up study are necessary for clinical application.

        본 논문은 증강현실 기술과 GPS 기능을 합친 여행 어플리케이션으로 사용자가 어플리케이션 내에 지정된 장소로 가서 화면을 비췄을 때 화면 내에서 관광지에 대한 정보를 얻을 수 있고, 그 장소에 실제로 다녀간 사용자들이 남긴 다양한 주변 정보들 까지 한눈에 볼 수 있도록 개발하였다. 증강현실을 통해 여행정보와 현장에서 작성한 후기를 제공하고 여행지에서의 증강현실 퀘스트 수행에 따라 경험치와 훈장 등의 보상으로 RPG(Role-Playing Game)성장 방식의 몰입감과 재미요소를 제공함으로써 사용자가 실용적인 정보를 실시간 현장 화면과 함께 몰입할 수 있는 서비스를 제공한다.

        일산화탄소 산화반응을 위한 Cu/CeO<sub>2</sub> 촉매의 반응특성

        본 연구에서는 Cu/CeO<sub>2</sub> 촉매의 함량과 소성온도를 제어함으로써 촉매의 구조적 특성이 CO 산화반응에 미치는 영향과, 100~300 ℃의 온도범위에서 촉매의 CO 전환율을 평가하였다. 촉매의 구조적 특성이 변화함에 따라 촉매의 화학적 특성에 미친 영향을 확인하기 위해 XRD, Raman, BET, H<sub>2</sub>-TPR, XPS 분석을 수행하였다. 이때, Cu와 Ce의 치환 결합이 형성되는 것을 확인하였고, Cu를 5 wt.% 담지한 촉매를 400 ℃로 소성하였을 때 Cu와 Ce의 결합을 많이 이루고 있는 것으로 판단하였다. Cu와 Ce의 결합은 Raman 분석 상에서 peak의 이동과, H<sub>2</sub>-TPR에서 나타난 peak를 통해 확인하였다. 또한 산화상태 분석을 통하여 치환 결합을 쉽게 이룰 수 있다고 알려져 있는 Ce<sup>3+</sup>종과 반응에 더욱 쉽게 기인할 수 있는 표면 산소종(surface labile oxygen)이 많이 형성되어 있는 것을 확인하였다. 이때, 본 연구에서 사용한 촉매의 CO 전환율은 150 ℃에서 100%에 가까운 수치를 나타내는 것을 확인하였다. In this study, the effects of the structural properties of the catalyst on CO oxidation reaction by controlling the Cu/CeO<sub>2</sub> catalyst amount and calcination temperature were studied, and also the CO conversion rate of the catalyst at the temperature range of 100~300 ℃ was evaluated. XRD, Raman, BET, H<sub>2</sub>-TPR, and XPS analyses were performed to confirm the effect of changes in the structural properties on the chemical properties of the catalyst. The result confirmed that a substitution bond between Cu and Ce was formed and a lot of Cu and Ce bonds were formed when the catalyst carrying 5 wt.%. Of Cu was calcined at 400 ℃. The Cu-Ce binding was confirmed by peak shifts in Raman analysis and also peaks appeared in H<sub>2</sub>-TPR. In addition, the balance state analysis demonstrated that a lot of surface labile oxygen molecules are formed, which can be more easily contributed to the reaction with Ce<sup>3+</sup> species known to form a substitution bond easily. It was found that CO conversion rate of the catalyst used in this study was close to 100% at 150 ℃.
