Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the behavioral and emotional problems associated with nocturnal enuresis in Korean children. Methods : Three hundred eighteen children with nocturnal enuresis, together with their parents, completed the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), Disruptive Behavior Disorder Scale according to DSM-IV (DBDS), Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAIC), and Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale (PHCSC). Ninety-three normal students were selected as the control group. Results : Compared to the normal control group, the mean scores with regard to the withdrawn, social problems, attention problems, delinquent behavior, aggressive behavior, externalizing problems and total problems profiles were significantly higher in the nocturnal enuresis group according to the CBCL results. The nocturnal enuresis group also scored significantly higher in the ADHD and ODD profiles of the DBDS. The nocturnal enuresis group was more depressed and anxious than the control group according to the results of the CDI and STAI. The mean score of the PHCSC was significantly lower in the nocturnal enuresis group when compared to the normal control group. Conclusion : The results of this study suggest that children with nocturnal enuresis in Korea have clinically relevant behavioral and emotional problems. The findings support the link between nocturnal enuresis and psychopathology in Korean children.

A lot of efforts have been made to resolve balancing problems between flux and source term and most finite volume models under development have been applied to simple channels such as imaginary and experimental channels. However, a number of numerical problems which can not be found in simple channels occur in the application to natural rivers and the problems should be resolved to apply finite volume models to natural rivers. In this study, 2D finite volume model which is applicable to natural rivers was developed and the accuracy of the developed model was validated through the application of partial dam break In addition, a simple and efficient 2D mesh generation method was suggested and the method can be accurately reflected to 2D mesh converted from surveyed cross sections in Han-river using GIS. The accuracy and applicability of the developed model on natural rivers were verified by performing simulation on Han-river using the generated mesh and comparing computed water elevation with measured water elevation.

The anomalous signal, anomaly, recorded by a sub-bottom profiler is analized for exploration of buried objects in the ocean. This anomaly is known as a signal diffracted from the edge of the buried object. Signals obtained from model test and numerical simulation are analized for investigating characteristics of the diffracted signal. From this study a diffracted signal and a non-diffracted signal can be identified, and the location of the object can be obtained. In order to identify an object in the seafloor the dimension of the object should be greater than the wave length used for exploration, and the acoustic impedance should be much greater than that of sediments. A 2-trace stacking of the signals can enhance the feature of strongly diffracted signals whereas it can diminish weak signals.

This paper describes the use of the finite element analysis in the development of a two-dimensional(in plan) hydrodynamic simulation model that solves the Saint-Venant equation. A finite element model consists of pre-processing, analysis processing and post-processing. The model has been tested with tow dimensional problems, including surge flow, flow through abrupt contraction and outfall flow. The finite element model shows a stable and efficient results for various situations. The model will provide a good contribution to the numerical analysis of two dimensional Saint-Venant equation.

A survey of physical properties using CTD castings was carried out at 5 sections in South East Sea in October 1991. Tsushima Warm Current branches at Gampo sections and main flows turn to the left. Eddy-like flow pattern could be found in the distribution of density at Gampo and Pohang sections where the branching occurs. Cold waters were found near the coast at about 50m where sharp thermocline is formed.

In this paper, a fuzzy logic controller is designed for speed control of a hydraulic inverter elevator. Mathematical modeling of an elevator actuated with hydraulic system is presented and the friction characteristics of a cylinder is examined, which may cause the abrupt increase of the acceleration in the zero-crossing speed region. Simulation results show that the proposed fuzzy logic speed controller yields a better control performance than conventional PID controller.

Objective: To examine the prophylactic effect of ondansetron and propofol against postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV) in children undergoing tonsill ectomy Methods and Materials: Sixty children(aged 3-11 years) who underwent tonsillectomy received antiemetics (ondansetron group; ondansetron 0.1mg/kg, propofol group; propofol 0.5mg/kg) or not (control group) at the end of surgery. Anesthesia was induced with ketamine(1mg/kgiv) and rocuronium(0.5mg/kg) and maintained by inhalation anesthesia with 2-3vol% sevoflurane in 50% N_(2)O/O_(2). Premedication was given as atropine 0.01mg/kg iv. Ketorolac(1mg/kg) was injected for postoperative analgesia immediate after induction. They were monitored the incidence of PONV at operation room, postanesthetic care unit(PACU) and admission room. Results: No significant differences were observed in the total incidence of PONV among the groups. But ondansetron and propofol group made a difference(p<0.05) in the incidence of PONV at operation room compared with control group. Conclusion: In children undergoing tonsillectomy, ondansetron(0.1mg/kg) and propofol(0.5mg/kg) may have a prophylactic effect against PONV at operation room.
