In addition to the development of functional cosmetics, technology to increase percutaneous absorption rate when applied to the skin is an important task. In this experiment, oleic acid was used as a skin absorption promoter, and its effect on transdermal permeability of adenosine was studied and analyzed using a skin-like membrane. As a result of the experiment, it was investigated that the permeability coefficient and concentration of adenosine are proportional to the content of oleic acid. This indicates that a high proportion of oleic acid is effective as a skin absorption promoter.

Ovarian pregnancy is an uncommon form of the ectopic pregnancies. The ovarian vascularity results in maternal hemorrhage early in the first trimester, which disrupts the pregnancy and usually ruptures the ovary with sufficient hemoperitoneum to require emergency operation. This report presents 10 cases of ovarian pregnancy by retrospective review between January 1986 and December 1995 at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Soonchunhyang University Hospital. There was 19,849 deliveries and 637 ectopic pregnancies during same period. It showed that the incidence of ovarian pregnancy was 3.21 % of all ectopic pregnancies. The clinical features of ovarian pregnancy revealed that abdominal pain was the major symptom, and history of amenorrhea was obscure. Because of life-threatening course, the early diagnosis and treatment of ovarian pregnancy is important. The clinical diagnosis of ovarian pregnancy was more difficult than that of tubal pregnancy.

Manganese is an essential mineral for human beings and animals. It is important to the production of steel and is used for the production of alloys with copper, aluminium, magnesium, and cast iron. And the job of drilling with pneumatic drills has been reported to be one of the most significant sources of manganese exposure and poisoning. We experienced 3 workers who worked in the process of welding load manufacuring and were diagnosed as the manganese poisoning by various laboratory data and physical examination and neurological examination.
위암세포주에서 Recombinant Human Interferon-r와 Adriamycin의 투여순서가 항암효과에 미치는 영향

Numerous previous studies, both in vitro and in vivo, have demonstrated that the cytotoxicity can be enhanced by the combination of chemotherapeutic agent and interferons(IFNs) in various types of cancer cells. We have previously reported that combined treatment of MKN-45, human gastric adenocarcinoma cells, with adriamycin(ADM) and recombinant human interferon-r(rh-IFN-r) increased in the cytotoxicity. In this study, the effects of combination timing of rh-IFN-r and ADM on the cytotoxicity against MKN-45 were investigated using MTT assay. MKN-45 was treated with rh-IFN-r and ADM in vitro on three schedules : Treat A ; rh-IFN-r and ADM were treated simultaneously, Treat B ; rh-IFN-r was treated 24 hours after the treatment with ADM, Treat C ; rh-IFN-r was treated for 72 hours and followed by the treatment with ADM. The survival of MKN -45 was inhibited by ADM dose-dependently. 102 and 103U/ml of rh-IFN-r significantly inhibited the survival of MKN-45(% survival : 35.1 ±-1.2% and 34.4 ±1.1% in Treat A and 42.5 ± 2.1% and 45.9-±2.5% in Treat C, respectively). However no difference in the survival was observed between 102 and 103U/ml of rh-IFN-r. Combined treatment with rh-IFN-r and ADM significantly augmented the cytotoxicity at low concentrations of ADM. Combined effects of rh-IFN-r and ADM were evaluated using IC30(,ag/ml) to ADM. IC30s of MKN-45 in Treat A, B and C at 102 U/ml of rh -IFN-r _ were 0.019 -?- 0.003, 0.045 :I:0.001 and 0.054 ± 0.012, respectively, while IC30 of MKN-45 treated with ADM alone was 0.052±0.004. IC30s of MKN-45 in ADM alone group, Treat A, Treat B and Treat C at 103U/ml of rh-IFN-r were 0.047 ±0.003, 0.004 -±0.001, 0.031 ±0.004 and 0.056 0.008, respectively. These results indicate IC30s of Treat A and B were significantly lower than those of ADM alone(p<0.05) and IC30s of Treat A was significantly lower than those of Treat B(p <0.01). IC30s of Treat C, however, were not different from those of ADM alone. From these results demonstrating that cytotoxic effects were increased by the combination of rh-IFN-r and ADM in the order, Treat A > Treat B> Treat C, it can be concluded that the simultaneous administration of rh-IFN-r and ADM may be the most effective method to combine these two therapeutic modalties.

Acute torsion of the ovary and ovarian mass is a recognized surgical emergency, but rarely has the diagnosis been made preoperatively on the basis of imaging studies. The sonographic findings in 14 cases of surgically proven torsion of the ovary and ovarian mass are described. Mostly cystic ovarian mass, engorged vessel, dilated uterine tube, beak-like echo(torsion site), smooth mass wall thickening an free-fluid collection in cul-de-sac are described. More significant in terms of specificity were the demonstration in 6 cases(42.9%) of the smooth mass wall thickening and in 8 cases(57.1%) of a free fluid in the cul-de-sac. We report the sonographic findings of ovary and ovarian mass torsion that may suggest the preoperative diagnosis of this condition.
산업단지 및 일반생활 지역의 공기 중 톨루엔에 대한 개인노출 및 생체시료의 상관성 분석

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the correlation relationship between personal exposure and urinary hippuric acid in biological monitoring for airborne toluene in an industrial complex and in general environments. Methods: Personal exposure to toluene and its metabolite, hippuric acid, in urine were simultaneously measured in occupational environments area near an industrial complex and in general environments. The study subjects were divided into three types: 137 workers who use organic solvents in the workplace, 210 residents living near a dyeing industrial complex, and 379 residents living in general environments. The toluene exposures of workers and residents were measured by a passive sampler for four days. The urine of participants was sampled when the passive samplers of personal exposure were collected. Results: The toluene and hippuric acid concentrations of workers were the highest, followed by the concentrations of residents living near a dyeing industrial complex and residents living in general environments. The coefficient of correlation between the concentrations of toluene and hippuric acid among workers was 0.749 (p<0.01) in the workplace. On the contrary, correlations between the concentrations of toluene and hippuric acid among residents living near a dyeing industrial complex and residents living in general environments were all not significant. The relationship between the concentrations of hippuric acid and toluene in three types could be described by the exponential growth model. Conclusions: This study analyzed the relationships between toluene exposure and the concentrations of hippuric acid in urine in high, middle, and low exposure environments, and could be described by the exponential growth model.

배지 종류가 둥근매듭풀(Kummerowia stipulacea (Maxim.) Makino) 기내증식에 미치는 영향

둥근매듭풀(Kummerowia stipulacea (Maxim.) Makino)은 콩과(Leguminosae) 매듭풀속(Kummerowia)에 속하는 초본성 식물로서 척박한 곳에 잘 자라며 정원용 녹화 식물로 이용된다. 본 연구는 둥근매듭풀의 대량생산을 위한 기내증식 체계 확립을 위하여 배지 종류에 따른 최적 배양 조건을 구명하고자 수행하였다. 둥근매듭풀 종자발아 조건은 양분을 첨가하지 않은 대조구와 MS(Murashige&Skoog medium), 1/2MS배지에 4주간 배양하였다. 그 결과 MS배지에서 평균발아일수가 짧았고, 모든 배지에서 80% 이상 높은 발아율을 보였으며, 특히 MS배지에서 91.4%로 가장 높았다. 둥근매듭풀 기내배양묘 배양 조건은 양분을 첨가하지 않은 대조구와 MS(Murashige&Skoog medium), B5(Gambong O.L medium), WPM(Lloyd&Mccown medium), SH(Schenk&Hildebrandt medium), N6(CHU medium), NM(Nitsch medium)배지에 4주간 배양하였다. 그 결과 배지종류에 따라 차이를 보였고, 둥근매듭풀 기내배양묘는 WPM배지에서 신초 길이 (Shoot length) 5.96cm, 엽 수(Leaf number) 32.50개로 가장 우수하였고, NM배지에서 뿌리 발생률(Root ratio)이 13.8개로 가장 높았다. 특히, N6, B5배지는 배양 2주차부터 모든 엽이 갈변하였고 줄기 생장이 정지하여 둥근매듭풀 기내배양묘 생육에 적절하지 않았으며, WPM배지는 둥근매듭풀 기내배양에 효과적이었다. 이러한 연구결과는 둥근매듭풀의 산업화 및 대량증식을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
식물생장조절제가 털부처꽃(Lythrum salicaria) 선발계통 WH1, PI1의 기내증식에 미치는 영향

털부처꽃(Lythrum salicaria)은 부처꽃과(Lythraceae) 부처꽃속(Lythrum)에 속하는 다년생 초본식물로서 주로 습지에 자라며, 여름(7~8월)에 붉은 자주색의 꽃이 총상꽃차례로 피어 관상용으로 재배한다. 본 연구는 털부처꽃 선발계통인 WH1와 PI1의 대량생산을 위한 기내증식 체계 확립을 위하여 생장조절제 종류에 따른 기내배양 조건을 구명하고자 수행하였다. 털부처꽃 선발계통 기내배양묘 WH1과 PI1의 배양 조건은 MS 기본배지에 3% Sucrose를 넣고 pH 5.8로 조정한 후 0.4% Gelrite를 첨가하였고, 처리 조건은 생장조절제를 처리하지 않은 대조구와 0.5, 1.0 mg/L BAP와 Kinetin을 0.5mg/L IAA 및 GA3에 혼용하여 4주간 배양하였다. 털부처꽃 선발계통 WH1, PI1은 생장조절제의 영향이 있으며, 생장조절제 종류와 농도에 따라 차이를 보였다. WH1 및 PI1은 0.5mg/L IAA와 Kinetin에서 신초길이(Shoot length) 12.22cm, 11.43cm로 가장 길었으며, 신초수(Shoot number)는 WH1은 0.5 mg/L IAA, 1.0 mg/L Kinetin 혼용처리에서 2.56개, PI1은 0.5 mg/L IAA, 0.5 mg/L mg/L Kinetin 혼용처리에서 4.10개로 가장 많았다. 마디수(Node number)는 WH1은 0.5 mg/L IAA, 0.5 mg/L Kinetin 혼용처리에서 6.89개, PI1은 0.5 mg/L IAA, 1.0 mg/L Kinetin 혼용처리에서 10.10개로 가장 많았다. 뿌리 및 엽 수(Root·Leaf number)는 WH1은 0.5 mg/L IAA, 0.5 mg/L Kinetin 혼용처리에서 13.22개, 15.44개, PI1은 0.5 mg/L IAA 단용처리에서 21.00개, 13.10개로 가장 많았다. 특히, GA3 처리의 경우, 선발계통 모두 줄기와 잎이 왜소하고 도장하여 증식용 배지로는 효과적이지 않았으며, 털부처꽃 선발계통인 WH1와 PI1의 증식용 배지에는 식물생장조절제 IAA와 Kinetin을 혼용하여 사용하는 것이 적절한것으로 판단된다. 이러한 연구결과는 털부처꽃의 신품종 육성 및 대량증식을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
