We investigated the physicochemical properties of brown rice by cultivar to select cultivar suitable for making brown rice porridge. The moisture content of the brown rice ranged from 8.79~11.78% with the highest varieties being 'Geonyangmi'. The crude ash and crude lipid content ranged from 1.02~1.65% and 1.65~3.26%, while the rest were similar except for 'Daebo'. Crude protein also had the lowest 'Daebo' and generally glutinous rice showed higher crude protein content than common rice. The hardness showed that 'Seolgaeng' and 'Keunnun' were the lowest, and 'Haiami' was the highest. In the RVA analysis, the setback was in the range -80.61~22.44 and was low in the order of 'Wolbaek', 'Baekjinju'', and 'Dongjinchal'. As a result of water binding capacity (WBC) measurement, 'Sindongjin', 'Geonyang' and 'Samkwang', were high in common rice, and 'Dongjinchal' and 'Hwaseonchal' were high in glutinous rice. Generally, solubility and swelling power in common rice was found to be lower than in glutinous rice. As a result, 'Samkwang' is considered suitable for brown rice porridge production because of high WBC, breakdown, and low setback.

Pulsed radiofrequency treatment has an analgesic effect byneuromodulation of the central pain pathway without neural injury. However, lack of knowledge regarding the exact mechanism onneuropathic pain makes the use of pulsed radiofrequency treatmentcontroversial. Here, we describe a case of satisfactory pain reliefafter ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequency treatment in a patientwith supraorbital herpetic pain refractory to medication. This caseindicates the potential of ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequencytreatment in patients with postherpetic supraorbital neuralgia.

We experienced a patient in whom rupture of the peroneus longus tendon occurred after ostectomy of the peroneus tubercle of the calcaneus. Acute rupture of the peroneus tendon can be managed by end-to-end anastomosis, while neglected cases can be treated by tenodesis, tendon transfer, or tendon graft. In the current patient, the tendon ends were mildly retracted, yielding a small gap. We successfully repaired the retracted tendon ends after lengthening by Z-plasty.

무선센서 네트워크에서 버스티 트래픽에 적합한 MAC 프로토콜

컴퓨팅, 통신, 그리고 미세 전자기계 기술의 최근 발달로 인하여 무선 센서 네트워크 응용들이 군사용으로부터 물체 추적, 화재 탐지, 그리고 차량 센서 네트워크와 같은 많은 상업적인 분야로 확산되고 있다. 어떤 응용들에서는 WSNs를 구성하고 있는 센서 노드들이 모니터링 지역에서 생산한 버스티한 데이터를 최종 목적지인 싱크 노드까지 제한된 시간 내에 전달해야 하는 경우가 있다. 본 논문에서는 제한된 시간 내에 버스티 패킷을 전달해야 하는 응용에 적합한 BTF-MAC을 제안한다. BTF-MAC 프로토콜은 동기식 듀티 사이클 MAC 프로토콜이며, 슬롯 예약 및 데이터 트래픽에 적응적으로 동작 구간을 확대하는 메커니즘을 가진다. 성능 분석 결과 BTF-MAC 프로토콜이 관련 프로토콜인 DW-MAC이나 SR-MAC 등에 비해 에너지 소모나 전송지연 비교에서 훨씬 우수한 결과를 보여준다. Due to the recent advances in computing, communication and micro-electromechanical technology, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) applications have been extended from military to many commercial areas such as object tracking, wire detection, and vehicular sensor networks. In some applications bursty data from many sensor nodes may be generated and the generated data from the monitoring area may be sent in a limited time to the final destination, sink node. In this paper, we present a BTF-MAC protocol adequate for WSNs applications in which bursty data packets are required to be transmitted in a limited time. The BTF-MAC is a synchronous duty-cycle MAC protocol and uses a slot-reserved and operational period extension mechanism adapted to the traffics. Our numerical analysis and simulation results show that BTF-MAC outperforms other related protocols such as DW-MAC and SR-MAC in terms of energy consumption and transmission delay.

결핵 뱀모양 맥락막염 환자에서 항결핵제와 스테로이드 치료 후에도 급격히 진행된 중심와 위축

Purpose: To report a case of rapidly progressing foveal atrophy with tuberculous serpiginous-like choroiditis. Case summary: A 54-year-old female patient had decreased vision of hand motions (os) for 3 days. Fundus examination showed optic disc swelling and yellowish chorioretinal lesions in the posterior pole (os). Optical coherence tomography (OCT) showed intraretinal edema and subretinal fluid in the left macula. Routine laboratory tests, serologic tests, and magnetic resonance imaging results were normal except for erythrocyte sedimentation rate (28 mm/hr). Fluorescein angiography showed the chorioretinal lesions appeared to be early hypofluorescence followed by late hyperfluorescence. Indocyanine green angiography showed hypofluorescence during early and late phases and the result of interferon-gamma release assay was positive. Under diagnosis of tuberculous serpiginous-like choroiditis, anti-tuberculous therapy combined with systemic corticosteroid was started. Despite decreased optic disc swelling, OCT showed a rapid progression of foveal atrophy within 2 weeks. Twelve weeks later, visual acuity was finger count at 10 cm. Six months later, best-corrected visual acuity and foveal atrophy were no interval change. Conclusions: Tuberculous serpiginous-like choroiditis with foveal involvement can show rapidly progressive foveal atrophy and poor visual prognosis.

본 총설은 용매추출(또는 액-액 추출)에 대한 일반적인 원리와 추출제별 용매추출 공정의 기초 원리를 소개하고 있다. 용매추출은 서로 섞이지 않는 두 상(phase)간에 화합물이 한 상(phase)에서 다른 상으로 이동하는 현상을 이용하는 공정이다. 초기에는 분석화학 분야에서 용매추출의 간편성, 신속성 및 넓은 적용성 때문에 많이 사용되었으며, 분액깔데기와 같은 간단한 도구로 수분내에 추출실험을 완료할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. The present review paper deals the liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) general principles and the basic fundamentals, general process of LLE followed by the importance of LLE reagents. LLE is a process of transferring a chemical compound from one liquid phase to a second liquid phase, immiscible with the first. In analytical chemistry, this method enjoys a favored position among separation techniques because of its simplicity, speed and wide scope. By utilizing apparatus no more complicated than a separatory funnel and requiring several minutes at most to perform, extraction procedures offer much to the analytical chemist.

봉합 나사를 이용한 변형 Br$\ddot{o}$strom 술식 및 관절경 검사를 이용한 족관절 외측 불안정성의 치료

Purpose: To evaluate the result of modified Br$\ddot{o}$strom procedure with anchor suture and explore associate lesion under arthroscopy for chronic lateral instability. Materials and Methods: From May 2005 to March 2009, Retrospective analysis of 126 patients with chronic lateral instability who underwent modified Br$\ddot{o}$strom procedure with anchor suture and arthroscopic procedure was done. Mean follow-up period was 13 months. Results: Chronic lateral instability of the ankle almost had local synovitis by arthroscopic examination. There were osteochondral lesion of talus on the anteromedial aspect in 63 cases, on the anterolateral aspect in 25 cases, osteochondral lesion of tibia side in 8 cases, fat hypertrophy of tibiofibular space in 120 cases, anterior fat impingement in 26 cases, intra-articular loose body in 13 cases. Mean Karlsson scoring scale was improve from 53 preoperatively to 91 postoperatively, There were 70 cases excellent, 27 cases good, 26 cases fair, 3 cases poor result according to the Sefton procedure. Conclusion: Modified Br$\ddot{o}$strom procedure with anchor suture and arthroscopic procedure are reliable treatment method for chronic ankle lateral instability which has intraarticular pathology.

통신분야의 Y2K 문제해결 현황

Soil Erosion and river-bed change of the Keum river basin using by GIS and RS

자연환경과 인위적 환경변화에 의한 홍수재해는 하상변동과 밀접한 관계를 갖는다. 본 연구는 금강유역을 대상으로 지리정보시스템(GIS)과 원격탐사(RS)를 이용하여 유역에서의 토양침식과 하상변동의 관계를 규명하고자 하였다. 지리정보시스템에서 범용토양유실공식 (USLE)을 이용하여 토양침식율을 계산하였다. 공주에서 이포까지 하상지형을 측량하였고, 3차원의 하상변화도를 작성하였다. 1982년에서 2000년까지 Landsat TM 영상을 이용하여 금강유역의 하상변동을 추적하였다. 연구결과, 강경일대의 토양침식율은 $1.8\;kg/m^2/$년이며, 하상증가율은 $+5\;cm/m^2/$년으로 산정되었다. 따라서 금강하류의 하상변화는 일정한 비율로 토양침식에 의하여 영향을 받는 것으로 해석된다. 또한 하상변동은 주로 금강의 지류와 본류의 접합부 하류일대에서 발생하였다. 금강하류에서 하상변동은 하성 세골재 채취가 하나의 원인으로 해석될 수 있으며, 골재채취로 인하여 1991년도에서 1995년도 사이 금강하상 위에 노출된 하상면적의 감소를 초래했던 것으로 추정된다. 한편, 금강유역 하상을 따라 교량건설, 경작지 조성을 위한 사주개간, 제방과 같은 수중 구조물들 설치는 퇴적물 집적과 퇴적하상의 노출면적 증가를 초래하였던 것으로 추정된다. Flooding hazard caused by natural and artificial environmental changes is closely associated with change in river bed configuration. This study is aimed at explaining a river-bed change related to soil erosion in the Keum river basin using GIS and RS. The USLE was used to compute soil erosion rate on the basis of GIS. River-bed profiles stretching from Kongju to Ippo were measured to construct a 3D-geomorphological map. The river-bed change was also detected by remote sensing images using Landsat TM during the period of 1982 to 2000 for the Keum river. The result shows that USLE indicates a mean soil erosion rate of $1.8\;kg/m^2/year$, and a net increase of a river-bed change at a rate of $+5\;cm/m^2$/year in the Kangkyeong area. The change in river-bed is interpreted to have been caused by soil erosion in the downstream of the Keum river basin. In addition river-bed change mainly occurred on the downstream of the confluence where tributaries and the main channel meet. Other possible river-bed change is caused by a removal of fluvial sand aggregates, which might have resulted in a net decrease of exposed area of sediment distribution between 1991 and 1995, while a construction of underwater structures, including a bridge, a reclamation of sand bars for rice fields and dikes, resulted in an increase of the exposed area of river-bed due to sediment accumulation.

Fibrous dysplasia is a benign disease that causes replacement of the medullary bone with fibrous tissue in one or more bones. Long bone like femur, tibia and fibular are often affected and occurring under 30 years old. We report a case of two solitary lesions of fibrous dysplasia with pathologic fracture treated with bone curettage, bone graft, plate fixation, who complains of lower leg pain.
