Epidermolysis bullosa simplex with mottled pigmentation (EBS-MP) is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by nonscarring blistering after minor trauma, reticulated pigmentation, and palmoplantar hyperkeratosis. EBS-MP is caused by a mutation in the KRT5 or KRT14 gene encoding the keratinocyte intermediate filament. A 14-year-old girl presented with reticulated hyperpigmentation of the trunk and both extremities, which was observed 9 years ago. Additionally, punctate hyperkeratotic papules were observed on both the palms and soles. She had a history of being diagnosed with EBS as a baby. Skin biopsies were performed on both the hyperpigmented and hyperkeratotic papules. Based on the clinical and histopathological findings, the patient was diagnosed with EBS-MP, and next-generation sequencing was performed. Genetic screening identified a p.P25L mutatio

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. Metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease, such as hypertension, stroke, diabetes mellitus, and hyperlipidemia, are more frequent among psoriatic patients and they experience increased morbidity and mortality than the normal population. Therefore, psoriasis and its comorbidities are important issues, especially in the geriatric population. However, little is known about psoriasis in geriatric patients, whereas treating this growing population can be challenging due to comorbidities, polypharmacy and physical impairments. Also, it will be of increasing importance to focus on the holistic management of geriatric dermatological conditions as this approach is potentially more cost effective because treatment is individualized and takes into account the patient’s overall medical and social circumstances. Treatment goals should be kept simple and individualized for each patient, based on concomitant comorbidities, potential adverse effects, existing quality of life, self-care capability, drug history, care-giver situation, financial needs, feasibility for follow- up and patient’s preferences. Here, we review the characteristics of geriatric patients with psoriasis and discuss rational treatment strategies.

Cheuk is Korean,se equivalent for the English 'Physical education', the Frnch 'education phycaque', and German 'Leibes(Korper)erziehung' etc.. But, the denotation of this term has now expanded, and implicated such as human movement like sport. While this situation signifies an increase of the extension of this term, it results in a decrease of its intension. As a necessary consequence, this situation should introduce the concept into obscuring of its implication. Obscuring of the concept of physical education makes it difficult to establish in both scholarly and practical senses. Dr.KISHINO's examination of its concept was scholarly works to overcome such a situation, and he wanted to recognize it by organising as 'Korperkultur> Korpererziehung> Koperubungen'. In spite of his sincere intention, his last analysis of it has met with the expansion of its extension, because of his miscomprehension about categoric basis among the concepts formulated by him. Such miscomprehension depends on a failure to understand the' concept of education'. Categoric basis of this concept is 'relation', hich is related to 'function' and can be defined: On a condition of P, E=F (a, b, c) (E=education, P=purpose, a=tutor, b=pupil, c=media) and also the concept of physical education can be defined: On a condition of P, PE=F (a,b,c) (PE=physical education, P=purpose, a=tutor, b=pupil, c=media) The most general purpose in physical education is 'huminizing our mankind from the physical aspect. In that case, categoric basis of media, although its concrets contents are various human movements, present itself as 'substance, on the other side, that of 'physical education as 'realation. Therefore, categoric basis between 'physical education' and human movement like sport should be distinctly differentiated.

Background This study aimed to investigate the recent prevalence, management, and comorbidities of diabetes among Korean adults aged ≥30 years by analyzing nationally representative data. Methods This study used data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2016 to 2018, and the percentage and total number of people ≥30 years of age with diabetes and impaired fasting glucose (IFG) were estimated. Results In 2018, 13.8% of Korean adults aged ≥30 years had diabetes, and adults aged ≥65 years showed a prevalence rate of 28%. The prevalence of IFG was 26.9% in adults aged ≥30 years. From 2016 to 2018, 35% of the subjects with diabetes were not aware of their condition. Regarding comorbidities, 53.2% and 61.3% were obese and hypertensive, respectively, and 72% had hypercholesterolemia as defined by low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) ≥100 mg/dL in people with diabetes. Of the subjects with diabetes, 43.7% had both hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. With regard to glycemic control, only 28.3% reached the target level of <6.5%. Moreover, only 11.5% of subjects with diabetes met all three targets of glycosylated hemoglobin, blood pressure, and LDL-C. The percentage of energy intake from carbohydrates was higher in diabetes patients than in those without diabetes, while that from protein and fat was lower in subjects with diabetes. Conclusion The high prevalence and low control rate of diabetes and its comorbidities in Korean adults were confirmed. More stringent efforts are needed to improve the comprehensive management of diabetes to reduce diabetes-related morbidity and mortality.
