        City`s Ecological Landscape in the Digital Age Lee Kyung-Lae, Park Kyou-Hyun, Cho Yeon-Jung We all know how beautiful our wild and it`s importance to our living planet Earth. But did you realise the speed at which man himself is damaging it`s unique natural habitat. We are well on our way to destroy our forests, plants, wetlands. We are polluting our oceans and seas. This way, we`re driving numerous animal species, plant species and many others into extinction. Everyone should be aware of the importance of our natural environment. We live in the period of echocide. Why we need nature to survive and how we can deal with the environmental problems we face. This paper has the purpose to reform city`s environment. Because, Metropolis and megalopolis are the principal cause of environmental disruption. To reform the city is needed to consider digital technology in our age. In the face of economic and cultural globalization, many have argued that we live an increasingly placeless world. However, as a growing number of cities participate and compete in key marketplaces of advanced capitalism, the spectacle of the city is more than ever a significant medium of communication in its own right. In doing so, this work is focused specifically on the dimension of city`s media environment. To that end, the paper examined U-City and U-Eco city. In this study, we will introduce the study on model of U-Eco City as one way for the eco-freindly future city.

      • 온산만의 퇴적물과 총알고둥(Littorina brevicula)내 중금속 분포

        To investigate the distribution of heavy metal concentrations in Onsan bay, concentrations of cadmium, copper, zinc and lead in surface sediments and the periwinkles (Littorina brevicula) were determined in February and July, 1996. The ranges of cadmium, copper, zinc, and lead concentrations in the surface sediments were 0.08∼3.72, 3∼307, 49∼1273 and 15∼399㎍/g dry weight, respectively. The decrease of concentration in heavy metals with distance from Daejeong stream indicated that this stream is the pollutant source of heavy metals in Onsan Bay. The concentrations of cadmium, copper, zinc and lead in L. brevicula were 0.11∼11.81, 21∼212, 30∼96 and 0.26∼4.12㎍/g dry weight in February and 1.01∼24.9, 66∼325.4, 54∼225 and 0.68∼8.41㎍/g dry weight in July, respectively. These concentrations in L. brevicula were the significantly different(p<0.001) with the season of sampling. However, overall distribution of concentrations of heavy metals in L. brevicula had very similar tendency that concentrations of heavy metal decreased with the distance from the pollutant source irrespective of the two seasons. Therefore, L.brevicula is considered as a useful indicator for heavy metals pollution. According to analysis of the organs, tissues such as the digestive gland, gill and viceral mussel accumulate high concentrations of heavy metals.

      • PPAR-γ작용약에 관한 3D-QSAR 연구

        The 3D-QSAR analysis with N-(2-benzophenyl)-L-tyrosine derivatives was conducted by Comparative Molecular Field Analysis(CoMFA) and Comparative Molecular Similarity Indices Analysis (CoMSIA). Two models yield the leave-one-out cross-validated correlation coefficient q² values of 0.62 and 0.56, and the conventional correlation coefficient r² values of 0.92 and 0.86, respectively. The achievement of higher q² and r² values of CoMFA model indicates the significance of correlation of steric and electrostatic fields with biological activities. The contour maps obtained from both CoMFA and CoMSIA studies were interpreted with respect to the binding site of the receptor. The quality of CoMSIA model is slightly lower than that of CoMFA in terms of q² and r² values. The models obtained from the present study can be useful for the development of new compounds with a more improved activity.

      • Interleukin-5 저해 활성 chalcone 화합물의 유효 입체 구조

        Interleukin(IL)-5 appears to be one of the main proinflammatory mediators among the growing number of cytokines and chemokines that induce eosinophilic inflammation. Previously, our group synthesized a number of chalcone derivatives to determine their inhibitory activity against IL-5. However, the structure-activity relationship (SAR) of these chalcones was somewhat unclear, robably due to presence of three free rotatable bonds. To further, explore the SAR of these chalcones, we synthesized eight 2-(benzylidene)-2,3-dihydroinden-1-ones and 2- benzylidene)-3,4-dihydronaphthalen-1(2H)-ones 6 and evaluated for their inhibitory activity against IL-5. These rigidified chalcones 6 exhibited very weak inhibitory activity against IL-5 compared to chalcones 2. The structures of 6 closely resemble to the stretched conformations of chalcone 2, not effective conformation for the inhibition on IL-5 function.

Because we can settle Weight of Middle layer using difference which is output value of Output layer and Error value, in proportion to the times of learning, we can obtain a good quality of output layer.

        생리식염수 및 포도당수액 정액 투여가 에탄올 농도에 미치는 효과에 관한 연구

        Background: In emergency department, there are many drunken patients with various emergency medical situations. In these patients, evaluation and management of the medical problems are delayed from time to time because of the uncooperative nature of the patients and because of consciousness and sensory changes. A precise evaluation can only be obtained when the patients become sober. For this purpose, most clinicians start IV fluid loading. This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of IV fluid(normal saline and glucose solution) on the rate of ethanol clearance in such patients Methods: Ten volunteers(healthy males in their twenties and with a Michigan alcohol screening test below 4) were enrolled in this study. Alcohol intake was restricted to at least 48 hours before the test and food intake to at least 4 hours. For the test, A predetermined dose of ethanol(1 gm/kg) was given to the volunteers. Each volunteer was tested on three consecutive times with 3 or more days interval for alcohol wash out period . On the lst day, the volunteers received ethanol only per os. On the second day, they received ethanol and a liter of IV 10% dextrose solution. Each day, blood was drawn from the antecubital vein to measure the ethanol level at the time of ethanol ingestion and at 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 hours after ingestion. The repeated measure ANOVA test was used for the statistical analysis. Results: The difference in the blood ethanol level between the 3 test was F=1.7, p=0.184 and the difference corrected by the time factor was F=0.32, and p=0.985. Conclusion: There was no significant difference in the blood ethanol level between the tests. In conclusion, the IV normal saline or glucose solution does not accelerate ethanol clearance in suffering

      • 의약품 키랄분석의 임상적 응용

        Chirality plays an important role in biology, and many of the processes essential for life are stereospecific. Hence, the chiral chromatographic separation of drugs becomes more important for the pharmacologists and toxicologists to offer the appropriate tools to find the solution for many problems related with stereoisomers of drugs. This review discusses the clinical applications of chiral separation for meploquine salbutamol, omeprazole, ketamine and some fluorinated volatile inhalation anaesthetics. The chirality in clinical situations was illustrated by these drugs in the field of enantiospecific pharmacokinetics and therapeutic activities. The results indicated that the racemic switch to a single enantiomer for these drugs will promote the development of more effective and safe drugs.

      • 151종 생약제 추출물이 B형 간염 바이러스 표면 항원(HBsAg)과 항체(HBsAb)의 결합반응 그리고 HBV DNA polymerase 활성에 미치는 효과 : 한국산 각종 생약제를 이용한 B형 간염치료제의 개발

        세계인구 43억명 중 B형 간염 바이러스 보균자는 2억 1천 5백만명이며 이중 78%인 1억 6천만명 이상이 아시아 대륙에 집중되어 있다. 한국도 B형 바이러스 간염의 침윤지대이다. 본 연구는 B형 바이러스 보균자 혹은 만성간염을 치료할 수 있는 생약제를 탐색할 목적의 일환으로 한국에서 시판하는 생약제 151종을 구입하여 증류수로 추출하고 여과한 후 냉동건조하여 HBs 항원에 대한 결합능, HBV DNA polymerase억제능, tumor necrosis factor(TNF) 유리에 미치는 영향, 그리고 galactosamine 유발 간염에 대한간장보호 작용을 조사하였다. 151종의 생약제중 0.16㎍/㎖ 농도에서 간염 vaccine 내에 함유된 HBs 항원과 결합하는 생약제는 지유, 가자, 복분자, 대황, 정향, 빈량, 산수유, 소목, 마황, 쇄양, 후박, 목과, 양강, 오약, 산사, 목단피 등 16종이었다. 이들 생약제중 대황(Rheum palmatum L. 大黃), 가자(Terminalia chebula R. 訶子), 지유(Sanguisorba officinalis L. 地楡), 복분자(Rubus coreanus M. 覆盆子)는 HBV DNA polymerase 활성도를 비교적 강하게 억제하였으며 빈량(Areca catechu L. 빈랑), 정향(Eugenia caryophyllata T. 丁香), 목과(Chaenomeles japonica L. 木瓜), 산수유(Cornus officinalis S. 山茱萸)는 약하게나마 HBV DNA polymerase 활성을 억제하였다. 또한 HBV DNA polymerase를 억제한 대황, 가자, 지유, 복분자, 빈량, 정향, 마황, 소목, 산수유를 대상으로 TNF 유리에 미치는 영향을 조사한 결과 소목을 제외한 8종의 생약제 모두가 대식세포를 자극하여 TNF를 유리시켰다. 그리고 장차 임상에 사용함을 전제로 HBV DNA polymerase를 억제한 대황, 가자, 지유, 복분자, 빈량, 정향, 마황, 소목, 산수유를 galactosamine 유발 간염(백서)에 투여하여 간기능 검사에 미치는 효과를 조사하였으나 간기능 검사상으로는 특별한 보호작용을 나타내지 못하였으며 생약제 단독 투여로서는 간기능에 대하여 나쁜 영향을 주지 않았다. Hepatitis B virus infection is major cause of acute and chrome hepatitis, cirrhosis of liver, and hepatocellular carcinoma. There are over 200 million carriers of hepatitis B virus in the world, nearly 80 % of whom live in the South East Asia, Korea is also highly endemic area of hepatitis B virus infection. This study was performed to evaluate the effect of extracts of traditional Korean herbal medicines on hepatitis B virus. 151 traditional herbs were extracted, filtered and lyophilized. Using 151 herbal extracts we tested binding capability to the HBs Ag, inhibition of HBV DNA polymerase, release of tumor necrosis factor (TNF), and protection against galactosamine induced liver damage. Among 151 herbs, 16 herbs (Sanguisorba officinalis L., Terminalia chebula R., rubus coreanus M., Rheum palmatum L., Eugenia caryophyllata T., Areca catechu L., Cornus officinalis S., Caesalpinia sappan L, Ephedra sinica S., Cynomorium songaricum R., Machilus thunbergii S., Chaenomeles japonica L., Alpinia officinarum H., Lindera strychnifolia V., Crataegus pinnatifida B., Paeonia suffruticasa A. ) had binding capability to HBs Ag which contained in the commercial hepatitis vaccine, at 16 ug/㎖ of concentratioa Among the above 16 herbs, Rheum palmatum L., Terminalia chebula R., Sanguisorba officinalis L., Rubus coreanus M. significantly inhibited the HBV DNA polymerase activity, and Areca catechu L., Eugenia caryophyllata T., Ephedra sinica S., Caesalpinia sappan L., Chaenomeles Japonica L., Cornus officinalis S. also inibited the HBV DNA polymerase activity but less effective. All of the herbs, except Caesalpinia sappan L., which inhibited the HBV DNA polymerase activity, actively stimulated the mononuclear cells to release tumor necrosis factor(TNF) in whole blood culture system. The herbs which inhibited the HBV DNA polymerase activity, did not show any protective effect in galactosamine-induced hepatitis in rats, but there was no direct toxic effect when herbs were administered alone.

        There are two kinds of data transmission communication method, namely, Analog communication method and Digital communication method. The latter has many excellent characteristics as compared with the former. In order to design excellent Digital Filter, the window function is studied in this paper. The conventional time-domain windowing requires N/2 stored values of the data window and N multiplications. A class of windows, called binary windows, for the frequency-domain implementation of the Discrete Fourier Transform is proposed. They do not require multiplications or stored constants ; rather, they are replaced by shift and add operations. These windows offer excellent sidelobe behavior compared with the conventional windows.
