For multibody systems with hinges as well as temporary contacts, such as robot manipulators, the impact dynamics is analyzed, considering the effect of friction during the collision process. As the speed of the peg motion increases, the quasi-static assumption becomes invalid, and high speed is a critical requirement in many robotic assembly processes. In this paper, using the results for the impact analysis of hinged systems, dynamic behavior of a peg in high-speed insertion is analyzed. Unlike the free motion of a single rigid body, the dynamics of the peg is constrained by a supporting mechanism. The dynamics of the supporting mechanism such as a manipulator which carries the end effector, influences the peg motion in a collision. Conditions for the peg to be guided along the chamfer correctly towards the center of the hole are derived based on the results for dynamic analysis of hinged systems.

Condylar hyperplasia is an uncommon malformation of the mandible created by excessive growth of one of the condyles. Condylar hyperplasia is a self-limiting condition, and treatment is determined by the degree of functional difficulty and aesthetic change. Some patients can be treated with unilateral condylectomy, whereas others require unilateral or bilateral mandibular osteotomies. Our method includes a condylectomy to arrest the continued condylar growth or to excise the neoplastic condyle, unilateral vertical ramus osteotomy to allow horizontal rotation of the mandible without significantly altering the temporomandibular articulations, and an arthroplasty by superior repositioning of the stump of the proximal condylar segment into the condylar fossa. Both the facial asymmetry and the occlusion were corrected by rotation of the mandible around the unaffected condyle.

It needs a large capacity of equipments to test the starting performance of middle and large synchronous motors in a factory. This paper propose a new method which is the combination of single phase AC applied test and usual routine test with a small synchronous test machine and testing equipments. We can obtain the results from these proposed tests as follows ; (1) The starting performance and stabilized operation at variable speed is predicted from this results. (2) The armature winding leakage reactance is resulted from the no-load saturation curve, the short-circuit charactristic curve and the armature-reaction magnetomotive force converted to the field current. (3) This test must be performed twice, one for short-circuiting the field winding, the other for joining a resistance between the field terminals, as a result the unknown constants in equivalent circuits are identified. (4) Inverter-fed three phase voltage with variable frequency is applied to armature terminals, as a result, We show the actual armature leakage reactance and reaction of the induced harmonic voltages from rotor.

In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

True hermaphrodites are animals of equivocal sex in which both male and female gonads develop simultaneously. The frequency of true hermaphroditism is higher in pigs than in other domestic animals. Two Korean pigs were diagnosed with true hermaphroditism showing ovotestes, epididymes, penes, and uteri. Histomorphologically, the testicular tissues consisted of Sertoli cells that were devoid of spermatogenic germ cells and showed proliferation of interstitial cells. However, the uteri were of normal architecture and had well-developed uterine endometrial glands. The samples were 38, XX female karyotype without the sex-determining region Y (SRY) gene. <P>To improve early embryonic development, many strategies have been studied in various species including bovine. The co-culture of embryos with somatic cells has been known to improve embryo quality during in vitro culture and pregnancy rates compared with conventional culture systems. The co-culture of embryos with oviductal cells which have been used for blastocyst expansion appears to shorten the time needed for synthesis of hCG, early embryo development, and hatching blastocysts. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the co-culture system with amniotic membrane stem cells (bAMS) improves bovine embryonic development competence. In order to investigate the influence of bAMS on early embryo development, bAMS originated from fetal bovine amniotic membranes were used as the feeder layer during in vitro maturation. The rates of matured oocytes, cleavage division, and blastocysts formation were increased (p<0.05) after co-culture with the bAMS compared to the control group. Moreover the rates of oocyte maturation and embryo development were significantly higher with using bAMS below 5 passages. In addition, the GSH level and the total cell number of blastocysts were significantly higher in co-culture group than in those of control group. Apoptotic cells were found more in the control group, and the expression of anti apoptosis related genes such as Mcl-1 and Bcl-2 were increased after co-culture with bAMS. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that co-culture with bAMS cells enhances oocyte maturation and embryo developmental competence by increasing GSH level and expression of anti apoptotic genes with reducing apoptotic cells in bovine embryos. We also found that it is more suitable to use bAMS below 5 passages.</P>

Thermally induced errors of machine tools could be reduced by oil cooler. For precise temperature control, both cooling and heating should be implemented. There are three major control methods of thermal errors. The on-off method has the largest market share as a result of its lower price, although the accuracy of temperature control is relatively lower, while the inverter method is mostly offered as an option for high precision machine tools due to its high control accuracy. But this method has complicated control system and high price. The hot gas by-pass method, which offers a compromise between the two method. In this study, we tested on-off and hot gas by-pass control methods and analyzed performance and economic efficiency.

This case study refers to resonance with vertical pumps. Vibration problem occurring after the inverter was installed for speed control. Its problem was appeared any revolution under rated speed. Vibration data was acquired during normal operation and transient state. We examined FRF on its resonance in field and also analyzed a result by finite element method. There was carried out the retrofit in field which was based on these results for solving problem.
