초등학교 아동의 리더십과 학업성취도 및 정서지능 = Elementary children's leadership, academic achievements and emotional intelligence

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 들어 리더십 교육에 대한 관심이 부각되고 있지만, 아동의 리더십 특성이 어떠하며 어떤 요인들과 밀접한 관련을 가지는지를 구체적으로 밝힌 연구는 드물다. 본 연구는 초등학교 고학년 아동들의 리더십이 학년, 성별, 학업성취도 수준에 따라 어떠한지, 그리고 리더십과 학업성취도 및 정서지능 간의 상관, 리더십에 미치는 학업성취도 및 정서지능의 영향력이 어떠한지를 밝히고자 하였다.
본 연구의 대상은 부산과 창원의 3개 초등학교에서 표 집 된 4학년, 5학년, 6학년 아동 273명이었다. 측정도구로는 김미숙, 박효정, 유효현, 전미란, 박춘성, 손은영(2006)이 개발한 리더십 측정도구, Mayer와 Salovey(1997)의 정서지능모형에 입각하여 문용린(1999)이 제작한 청소년용 정서지능 검사도구가 사용되었고, 학업성취도는 피험자들의 국어, 수학, 사회, 과학 과목의 총괄평가 점수를 수집하여 사용하였다. 통계처리는 중 다 변량분석과 Tukey 사후검증, Pearson 상관계수, stepwise 방식의 중 다 회귀분석 등에 의해 이루어졌다. 리더십 고·저 집단의 구분은 리더십 점수의 상위 30%를 리더십 고 집단, 하위 30%를 리더십 저 집단으로 하였다.
본 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 초등 고학년 아동들의 리더십에 있어서는 4학년 아동들의 리더십이 5, 6학년 아동의 리더십보다 더 높았고, 여아들의 리더십이 남아들의 리더십보다 더 높았으며, 학업성취도 수준이 높은 아동들의 리더십이 낮은 아동들의 리더십보다 더 높았다.
둘째, 초등 고학년 아동의 리더십과 학업성취도 및 정서지능 간의 상관은 아동집단에 따라 상이한 경향성을 나타냈다. 전체 아동에 있어서는, 리더십은 학업성취도 전체 및 하위요인 대부분과 정적 상관을 나타냈고, 정서활용 및 정서조절 요인을 제외한 정서지능 전체 및 하위요인들과 대부분 정적 상관을 나타냈다. 리더십 고 집단 아동에 있어서는, 리더십의 대인관계 및 조직능력 요인과 사회성취도 간, 타인과 공동체배려 요인과 정서지능의 사고촉진 요인 간, 의사결정 요인 및 의로움 요인 간과 정서지능의 정서활용 요인 간에 각기 정적 상관을 나타낸 반면, 리더십 전체와 정서지능의 정서활용 요인 간, 그리고 대인관계 및 조직능력 요인은 정서지능의 감정이입 요인과 각기 작은 부적 상관을 나타냈다. 리더십 저 집단 아동에 있어서는, 리더십 전체와 국어성취도 간에는 정적 상관을, 리더십 전체, 비전과 추진력 요인 및 타인과 공동체배려 요인은 정서지능의 정서인식 및 표현 요인과 각기 부적 상관을 나타냈다.
셋째, 초등 고학년 아동의 리더십에 미치는 학업성취도 및 정서지능 요인의 영향력에 있어서도 아동집단에 따라 상이한 경향성을 나타냈다. 전체 아동에 있어서는, 학업성취도 중 수학성취도 요인이 약 6% 정도, 정서지능 중 사고촉진 요인이 약 3% 정도 리더십을 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 리더십 고 집단 아동에 있어서는, 정서지능의 정서활용 요인만이 리더십을 6% 정도 설명하였으며, 리더십 저 집단 아동에 있어서는, 학업성취도 중 국어성취도가 약 6% 정도, 정서지능의 정서활용 요인이 6% 정도 아동의 리더십을 설명하지만, 정서인식 및 표현 요인은 아동의 리더십에 대해 5% 정도의 부적 설명력을 가지는 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recently researchers as well as educators have become more interested in children's leadership as an important characteristics to improve in their young age to lead a successful life in this globalized society. Present study tried to make clear children's leadership skills according to their grade, gender, and academic achievements, and also to investigate the relationships of children's leadership to their academic achievements and emotional intelligence. The results of present study could provide useful information to implement leadership education for children in school and in other educational institutions as well.
Subjects were 273 4th, 5th, and 6th graders sampled from 2 elementary schools in Busan and 1 elementary school in Changwon. Children were measured in their leaderships and emotional intelligence, and their scores for language, math, social studies, and science on summative evaluation were collected from their teachers. Statistical methods used were MANOVA, multiple regression analysis, and Tukey.
The results obtained are as follows:
First, 4th graders exceeded both 5th and 6th graders in their leadership skills, girls exceeded boys, and children with high academic achievements exceeded children with low academic achievements in their leadership skills.
Second, correlations among three variables revealed different tendencies among children groups like children as a whole, children with high leadership skills, and children with low leadership skills. In children as a whole, leadership had small positive correlations with math achievements, and also with emotional facilitation of thought. In children with high leadership skills, interpersonal relation and organization element of leadership had small positive correlations with social studies achievements, and also with emotional management, but had small negative correlations with empathy. In children with low leadership skills, leadership had small positive correlations with language, and also with emotional awareness and expression.
Third, explanatory power of academic achievements and emotional intelligence over children's leadership revealed different tendencies among children groups. In children as a whole, leadership was explained about 6% by math achievements, and 3% by emotional facilitation of thought. In children with high leadership skills, leadership was explained about 6% only by emotional management. In children with low leadership skills, leadership was negatively explained about 5% by emotional awareness and expression, and was positively explained about 6% by language achievements and about 5% by emotional management respectably.
