중학교 영재학생을 위한 리더십 계발 프로그램의 필요성 탐색 = Needs Analysis of Leadership Development Program for Gifted and General Students at Korean Middle School

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한글초록:본 연구의 목적은 미국에서 청소년들의 리더십 계발 프로그램을 위한 진단도구로 개발한 ‘리더십 기술 검사도구(Leadership Skills Inventory: LSI)’를 우리나라 영재중학생의 리더십 잠재성을 판별하고 진단하는 도구로 활용하기 위한 한글판 리더십 기술 검사도구로 번안하고, 번안된 검사도구가 우리나라 중학생들에게 적용되었을 때 검사도구로서의 신뢰도를 확인하는 것이었다. 또한 번안된 검사도구를 한국 중학생들에게 실시하였을 때 우리나라 영재중학생과 일반중학생들의 리더십 기술 수준에 어떻게 나타나는가를 살펴보는 것이었다. 이에 대한 연구 결과에 대한 결론을 내리면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한글판 리더십 기술 검사도구가 우리나라 중학생을 대상으로 실시하기 위해 적절히 번안된 것으로 보이며, 신뢰도를 검증한 결과 높은 신뢰도를 보였다. 따라서, 리더십 계발 프로그램의 적용을 위한 진단도구로서의 역할이 기대된다. 둘째, 미국 일반학생들을 대상으로 제작된 규준에 근거하여 우리나라 영재중학생과 일반중학생들의 리더십 기술 수준을 살펴본 결과 우리나라 영재중학생들은 미국의 일반중학생들과 비교하여 리더십 기술 수준에서 우위를 보여주지 못하였으며, 우리나라 일반중학생들은 모든 영역에서 미국의 일반학생들보다 리더십 기술 수준이 낮았다. 따라서 우리나라 학생들을 위한 리더십 계발 프로그램이 절실하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 미국의 일반학생들에 비하여 결코 우위에 있지 않은 우리나라 영재학생들의 리더십 수준을 확인함으로써 그들이 성장하면 저절로 리더가 되리라는 기존의 기대는 유효하지 않으며, 치열한 국제사회의 리더로 성장하려면 체계적인 리더십 교육이 요구된다

국문 초록 (Abstract)

영문초록:Recently, Korean society started to spend a lot of national resources on educating gifted students. Korean society seems to expect that, by educating gifted students, it is bringing up tomorrows' national leaders. However, many researchers in the areas of gifted education and leadership education claims that gifted education programs include leadership development programs to foster genuine leaders.This study found that Leadership Skills Inventory(LSI) is a very promising diagnostic tool which can be easily linked with leadership development programs. In order to utilize LSI as a leadership diagnostic tool for Korean students, LSI was translated into Korean. Korean-version LSI also showed it is a reliable measurement in evaluating leadership skills of Korean students.When Korean students were compated to the American norms, which was developed by applying original LSI to American student samples, Korean middle school students showed significantly lower levels of leadership skills than American samples. On the other hand, gifted student samples, who were classified as gifted in Korea, did not show higher levels of leadership skills than American samples, who were not just general students. Results imply that Korean education, as well as Korean gifted education, should develop and apply leadership programs for its young students if Korean society intends to bring up its youngsters to the international leaders in the future
