The current status of research and development on the nanopowder technologies is reviewed by using literature information analysis. Especially, nanopowders(or ultla fine particles) are one of the most important key materials for the nanotechnology. Because of the extremely small dimensions, a large volume fraction of the element atoms are formed to colloids or nano clusters, and this confers special attributes to these materials. The nanopowders appear to be a great potential for applications - such as drug systems, field emission display(FED), secondary battery electrodes, fuel cells, atomic force microscopy(AFM)/scanning tunneling microscopy(STM) tips, ultra small diodes, hydrogen storage cell, gas sensors, microwave devices, nano capsules, oil absorbers, nano composites etc... in the near future.

This study aims to review the problems and status of accident and construction projects also to find out the ways of preventing the works from accident. It can let them understand the reasons for the accidents and the way of promoting the awareness of safety. For the study the literature and previous studies are reviewed and then the field managers and safety management members were interviewed intent of status of field safety management and accidents data occurred at domestic construction fields.
절수에 의한 mongolian gerbil의 체중 변화에 관한 연구

Recently, the mongolian gerbils have been used in neurology and the study of water metabolism because of their easy onset of epileptic seizure and typical resistance to water deprivation. The sebaceous glands which are under the control of the gonadal hrmones are differently developed from the other laboratory animals. However the physiological data on the changes of body weight following water deprivation in mongolian gerbils is not available until now. In order to investigate the effect of the water deprivation on the body weight, the animals were deprived of water for 15 days. The body weights were measured daily by the torsion balance. The mean, the standard deviation, the standard error and the coefficient of variance of the body weights were calculated. The correlation was examined. The potential regression equation was y = 61.5458 - 2.0533 * x + 0.0487 * x^2. The regression coefficient was 0.993. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The body weights of the mongolian gerbils were continuously decrased from the 1st day to the 15th day after the water deprivation. 2. The mean body weight on the water deprivation was 63.0±7.00g and that at the 15th day was 41.4 ± 5.42g. 3. The coefficients of the variance showed the highest (13.09) at the 15th day and the lowest (10.10) at the 10th day. the coefficients of the variance kept decreasing until the 10th day and thereafter gradually increased until the 15th day. 4. The changing rate of the body weight kept continuously decreasing from the 1st day to the 15th day showing the daily loss of 1.0 - 3.3%. 5.The deviations (M - QBW) between the measured values (m) and the theorical values (QBW) using the regression equation showed the highest (1.494) at the 1st day and the lowest (0.053) at the 13th day. 6. The sum of the devitions was 0.179 and that of the deviation square was 1.15. The sum of the deviation rates between the mesaured body weights and the theorical ones was 0.484. 7. The daily body weight loss showed the highest at the 1st day by 2.053g and the lowest at the 15th day by 0.591g. 8. The specific body weight changing rates which were the rate of the body weight changing velocity to the changed body weight were decreased from 0.033% at the 1st day to 0.014% at the 15th day.

Pleural effusion in a patient with multiple myeloma due to plasma cell involvement of the pleura has been reported infrequently. We report a case of multiple myeloma with pleural involvement presenting bone pain and dyspnea in a 69-year-o1d woman. On the physical examination, the patient looked chronically ill with bedridden state. There was a palpable mass on the left posterior lower chest, firm but not tender and decreased breathing sound in the left lower lung. Laboratory finding revealed amemia, elevation of ESR, globulin, and calcium. X-ray of the chest showed pleural effusion in the left lower lung, and multiple pathologic fractures in the both ribs. X-ray of the skull, and pelvis revealed multiple punched-out osteolytic fractures in the both ribs. X-ray of the skull, and pelvis revealed multiple punched-out osteolytic lesion, and compression fracture in the lumber spine. Serum and urine electrophoresis revealed a M-spike. Serum and urine immunoelectrophoresis demonstrated an IgA-kappa monoclonal protein. Thoracentesis revealed serosanguinous fluid but not containing atypical plasma cells. Bone marrow examination showed 16.7% of immature plasma cells. With first cycle of melphalan, prednisone chemotherapy, improvement of pain and disappearance of pleural effusion was observed.

<P>Ferroelectric properties of Pb-free (Bi,La)4Ti3O12 (BLT) films were optimized on a newly developed MTP cell structure. BLT films were coated on Pt/IrOx/Ir bottom electrode using sol-gel solutions. The composition of the optimized BLT film was about Bi3.25La0.75Ti3.0O12, which was analyzed by ICP-MS method. The switchable polarization obtained in a 100nm-thick BLT film was about 20 uC/cm2 at the 3 V applied voltage, and the optimized BLT film showed little fatigue loss about 10% up to 1×1011 cycles. The imprint properties of the BLT film were also characterized at 25 °C and 90 °C operating temperature after 125 °C data storage. Regardless of operating temperature, switchable polarization of BLT had a sufficiently large margin for device operation up to 10 years.</P>

We have reviewed seven cases of fracture-separation of the distal humeral epiphysis, two of which were initially misdiagnosed as a fracture of the lateral condyle and one as a fracture of the supracondyle. The four cases were treated by closed reduction and cast immobilization, and three cases by open reduction and internal fixation. The one case with conservative treatment had cubitus varus, other were good result. To distinguish the fracture-separation from a fracture of lat. condyle and from a dislocated elbow is impossible using clinical signs alone. For reducing misdiagnosis, it is important to consider age and there could be need further evaluation such as arthrogram, USG, CT and MRI.

Active component was sought among three herb medicines, which are used in combination as a traditional medicine prescribed for patients with hyperlipidemia related diseases. Antihyperlipidemic effect of this remedy has previously been shown model by the authors on the animal model. Hyperlipidemia was induced on male Wistar rats by keeping them on high lipid diet for one week, as previously described by the authors. Blood lipid profile was verified on these rats by measuring total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL). Then, the diet was changed to normal. At the same time, methanol extracts of Scutellaris baicalensis Georg.(radix), Coptidis japonica Makino(rhizoma) or Rhei koreanum Nakai(rhizoma) were given on daily basis, and changes in the blood lipid profile were monitered for 4 weeks. Methanol extract of Scutellaris baicalensis Georg, significantly reduced the TC value, implying the in vivo antihyperlipidemic effect.
