The Front Cover image illustrates the unique battery architecture comprising a skeleton frame surrounding an empty space, that is, a hollow‐spiral anode with a multi‐helical structure. This design enables the battery to reliably power an LED screen or an MP3 player even under severe mechanical twisting and bending. </P>
수분에 의한 Zr계 에너지 물질의 화학적/물리적 노화 및 연소 성능 저하

Zr을 원료로하는 점화제와 ZrNi를 원료로 하는 지연제로 구성된 지연관의 노화현상과, 노화로 인한 절심현상(Ignition failure)을 열적/화학적으로 분석하였다. 열적 분석에는 Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC) 와 Thermogravimetry Analysis(TGA)가 사용되었고, 화학적 분석에는 X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy(XPS)를 사용하였다. DSC에서 나온 Kinetics를 통해 Modeling and Simulation을 수행하였으며, 절심현상의 원인을 극명하게 보여주었다. 수분에 대한 산화제의 안정성이 노화 현상에 크게 영향을 미쳤으며, 에너지 물질의 열 생성률이 주변 케이스로 열 발산률보다 낮아질 때 절심현상이 발생하는 것으로 나타나, 열 성능 저하가 절심현상의 가장 큰 원인임을 규명하였다.

This paper describes a single-phase active power filter based on a newly developed digital controller. The developed controller utilizes FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) algorithm to extract the reference signal from the load current, considering the phase-angle delay of each order of harmonics. Optimized technique was applied for whole control algorithm to implement the real-time operation of developed controller. The performance of developed controller for a single-phase active power filter was verified through computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC. The feasibility of hardware implementation was confirmed by building and testing a prototype. The developed digital controller for a single-phase active power filter can compensate the harmonic current generated by the power supply for digital equipment.

Purpose: To investigate whether postoperative filtering bleb size affects the surgical outcome after trabeculectomy. Methods: In this study, we retrospectively reviewed 145 medically uncontrolled glaucoma patients with intraocular pressure (IOP) values >21 mmHg before surgery and data from ≥2 years of follow-up. Postoperative IOP, filtering bleb size including extent and height, and other clinical factors were measured after trabeculectomy. We divided bleb extent into quadrants and bleb height by 0.5 intervals of corneal thickness. The main outcome measure was surgical success. We confirmed complete success when the IOP was ≤21 mmHg and decreased by >20% from baseline without medication or additional procedures. Qualified success used the same criteria but allowed for medication or additional procedures. Cases with reoperation or two consecutive IOP measurements <6 mmHg were considered failures. Results: A total of 145 eyes of 145 patients was included. The average observation period was 30.8 ± 10.9 months. During multivariate Cox regression analysis, a larger extent of filtering bleb revealed significantly low hazard ratios in both complete and surgical success (0.509 and 0.494, respectively); however, there was no significant relationship between bleb height and surgical outcome. Conclusions: The extent of the filtering bleb was associated with surgical outcomes of trabeculectomy in glaucoma patients.
Ultrastructure of Substance P Immunopositive Axons in the Human Dental Pulp

There exists very little information on the ultrastructure of substance P immunopositive (+) fibers in the human dental pulp, which may help in understanding the mechanism for substance P associated pulpal inflammatory pain. To address this issue, we investigated the presence of substance P+ fibers in the human dental pulp by light- and electron-microscopic immunohistochemistry. Light microscopy revealed that substance P+ fibers ran within neurovascular bundles in the radicular pulp and in the core of coronal pulp. They were also frequently present in the peripheral pulp. Substance P+ fibers showed beads like swellings interconnected by thin axonal strand, in a manner similar to bouton en passants and interconnecting axonal strand in the spinal cord. Electron microscopy revealed that almost all the substance P+ axons were unmyelinated. The axonal swellings of the substance P+ contained numerous clear round vesicles (40-50 nm in diameter) and many large dense-cored vesicles (80-110 nm in diameter) as well as many mitochondria. The vesicles and mitochondria were rarely observed in the thin axonal strand interconnecting the swellings. Intimate interrelationship or synaptic structure between the swellings of substance P+ axon and nearby pulpal cells or axons was not found. These findings suggest co-release of substance P and glutamate from the substance P+ pulpal axons and its action on nearby structures in a paracrine manner.
