        Genome-wide investigation of a Korean synthetic breed, Woori-Heukdon using the Illumina PorcineSNP60K BeadChip

        Background: Woori-Heukdon (KWH) is a Korean synthetic pig breed generated using Chookjin-Duroc (KCD), Chookjin-Chamdon (KCC), and their crossbreds. Currently, there is a severe lack of studies investigating the Korean breed populations including wild boars (KWB) throughout the genome. Objective: This study was performed to investigate the genetic characteristics of Korean pig populations at the genome-wide level. Methods: Using the SNP dataset derived from genotyped and downloaded datasets using the Illumina PorcineSNP60K BeadChip, we compared the genomes of 532 individuals derived from 23 pig breeds to assess the genetic diversity, inbreeding coefficient, genetic differentiation, and population structure. Results: KWB showed the lowest average expected heterozygosity (HE = 0.1904), while KWH showed the highest genetic diversity (HE = 0.02859) among Korean populations. We verified that the genetic composition of KWH, showing USD of 74.8% and KCC of 25.2% in ADMIXTURE analysis. In population structure analyses, KCC was consistently shown to be separated from other pig populations. In addition, we observed gene flow from Western pigs to a part of Chinese populations. Conclusion: This study showed that Korean native pigs, KCC have genetic differences in comparison with Chinese and Western pigs; despite some historical records and recent genetic studies, we could not find any clear evidence that KCC was significantly influenced by Chinese or Western breeds in this study. We also verified the theoretical genomic composition of KWH at the molecular level in structure analyses. To our knowledge, this is the first genomic study to investigate the genomic characteristics of KWH and KCC.

        This study was performed to characterize the seasonal fluctuation of water quality and sediment environment from April, 2001 to November, 2001 in Gamak bay. Which was a productive area, but recently its fisheries conditional have been deteriorated because of increasing waste-water from municipal area, industry and autochthonous pollution by farm industry. In the survey of seawater quality, DO and COD concentrations were lowest in bottom layer at summer, but DIN and DIP contents were higher than those in surface layer. Eutrophication indices mean that eutrophication area move from south to north entrance via northern-west inner area with seasonal change from summer to autumn. In the survey of sediment environment, ignition loss(IL), chemical oxygen demand(COD), DIN and Dip were in the range of 3.8~15.7%, 10.3~60.6mg/g-dry, 5.053~1.810mg/ℓ and 0.065~0.324mg/ℓ , respectively. COD in sediment were highest at winter and spring. And, they were higher than sediment standard in the south inner area, which mean heavily polluted conditions with organic constituents.

        We propose a new approach to the calculation of the exact cell loss probability in a shared buffer ATM multiplexer, which is loaded with homogeneous discrete-time ON-OFF sources. Renewal cycles are identified in regard to the state of input sources and the buffer state on each renewal cycle is modelled as a K(shared buffer size)-state Markov chain. We also analyze the behavior of queue build-up at the shared buffer whose distribution together with the steady-state probabilities of the Markov chain leads to the exact cell loss probability. Our approach to obtaining the exact cell loss probability seems to be more efficient than most of other existing ones since our underlying Markov chain has less number of states.

        The laser-interferometer and capacitive displacement sensors were used to increase the resolution of the feedback system for stage used for measuring and processing the system. However, it was difficult to obtain high-resolution measurements, considering the measuring method and structural characteristics. This study developed a inverse magnification type stage to evaluate characteristics. Therefore, we introduced a nano-stage with a magnification mechanism for the position feedback system.

        Pulse Power를 이용한 혐기성 소화 효율 증대

        Anaerobic digestion is commonly used in wastewater treatment plants to stabilize sludge produced in primary and secondary treatment, to produce renewable energy as methane, and to reduce the volume of solids for ultimate disposal. Previous studies on anaerobic digestibility of primary and secondary sludge present that secondary sludge showed poor anaerobic digestibility and less gas production. The objectives of this research were to study the effects of pulse power pretreatment on anaerobic digestibility of waste activated sludge. These objectives were achieved through operation of carefully-controlled laboratory digesters under various conditions. The conclusion made from this study are as follows: 1) To maximize the efficiency of pulse power pretreatment for waste activated sludge, the optimum operation conditions for coaxial reactor with 7 rings are decided as follows; a) optimum pulse repetition rate : 110㎐, b)feeding service : once-through mode, c) optimum hydraulic retention time : 1.0-1.5sec 2) Pretreated WAS by pulse power system showed increase of SCOD, ECP, and V.A by 13.6, 4.6, and 7.1 times. 3) From the results from operation of lab scaled anaerobic digester, pulse power sludge pretreatment increased GPR from 0.39㎥gas/㎏VS_add · day to 0.66㎥gas/㎏VS_add · day and methane content from 43.9% to 87.9%. Thus, increase of methane production rate was increased by 3.4times. 4) During the steady state operation of anaerobic digester, the removal efficiency of TCOD and VS were improved by 44.6% and 31.5% respectively after pulse power pretreatment of waste activated sludge.

        It's not uncommon for the amount of leaves to be reduced significantly due to the early differentiation of flower-bud by short-day condition when growing perilla for harvesting the leaves in the greenhouse during the winter. This study analyzed the effect of day-length on the growth and regulation of flowering, which are closely related with differentiation of flower and amount of leaves. Development of new leaf was inhibited by short-day treatment for more than 5 days. As the period of short-day was longer, the effect on the development of new leaf inhibition was more evident. Number of leaves was reduced in both 40 days and 110 days short-day treatments as period of short-day length was longer. Short-day treatment for less than 3 days did not induce flowering, but short-day treatment for more than 5 days induced flowering. As the period of short-day treatment was shorter, percentage of flowering was lower and days to flowering was longer. That is, when treated for 20 days, flowering began in 20 days. Seed weight was reduced as the length of short-day treatment was longer.

        Armorphous materials have various structures that is determined by different manufacturing conditions. That is, the photoelectric characteristics of films manufactured by different conditions are totally different. The growth mechanism of a-Si should be understood in order to controll the characteristics and structures of these kinds of materials. In this study, we try to elucidate the particle behaviours in a processing plasma using a low pressure glow discharge. And because of difficulties understanding discharge mechanism, we have done the processing so far depending on the experimental methods that compare the thin film produced by varing discharge parameter with the results of micromachinary. But, this has a limitation in the development because it regards the plasma as a blackbox. Therefore, because it needs to observe the discharge parameters and plasma background gas systematically, we try make sure that the particle behaviours be made clean by using laser fluorescence method which is predominant in a phenomina measurement and special resolution.

      • 신호교차점 접근로의 지체해석에 관한 연구

        This study was a selection circular road of Taegu city and four intersections approach which is located in the suburbs as the subject of study. And then, observed the relation between volume, traffic, speed and distribution of vehicle speed. It was examined the goodness of fit after making a model through the decelerated delay, accelerated delay and stopped delay which are calculated on the basis of the survey data. And also looked into the relation among the approach delay and the stopped delay and vehicles delay of signalized intersection approach which was caused by the traffic congestion. In the comparison of the average stopped delay for the model, KHCM model have an observation values and an approximate value. It was known the fact that the prediction model (1) and (2) that is provided by this study can applied at present. It could use this result to the shortest route search method and the signal system operation, the calculation of the service level at the signalized intersections.

        신비체험과 해리성향과의 관계

        신비체험은 종교의 핵심경험이라고 일컬어질 만큼 종교계에서 가치 있게 평가되고 있으며 여러 사회집단에서도 관심의 대상이 되어왔다. 오래 전부터 심리학자들과 정신의학자들이 신비체험에 대해 관심을 가져 왔지만 그것의 개인적이고 주관적인 특성 때문에 과학적인 접근이 어려웠으며 단지 신비체험의 특성을 나열하고 묘사하는데 그쳤다. 최근 일부 정신병리학자들은 신비체험을 해리현상의 하나로 보는 주장도 있다. 한편 해리는 어린 시절의 외상경험과 연관이 있고 정신병리가 많을수록 해리경향성이 높아진다는 보고가 있어 왔다. 본 연구는 종교인중 신비체험을 경험하지 않은 사람(비신비체험군) 35명을 대조군으로 하여 종교인중에서 신비체험을 경험한 사람(신비체험군) 42명과 해리경향성, 정신병리, 외상경험을 비교하였다. 연구도구로는 한국어판 해리경험 척도, 간이정신진단검사, 외상유무를 묻는 질문지를 이용하였다. 그 결과, 해리경향성은 신비체험군이 비시비체험군보다 유의미하게 높았으며 외상경험도 유의미하게 높게 보고하였다. 그러나 정신병리상의 두드러진 차이는 발견되지 않았다. Mystic experience is highly evaluated so as to be called as core of experience in the religious world and also becomes the subject of concern among various social groups. Psychologists and psychiatrists are concerned about it, but because of its individuality and subjectivity, the scien-tific approach was difficult so that only the description of mystic experience has been researched fo far. There is a current report saying that mystic experience is the one of the dissociative pheno-menon. And there are a lot of reports saying that dissociation is related to childhood trauma experience and rises as much as psychopathological tendencies exist. Consequently, based on the reference that mystic experience is connected with dissociation, the study has been progressed to find out the level of dissociation, psychopathology and trau-ma experience for religious people who experienced mystic experience but excluding patients. Among them, it has been compared between group of non-mystic experience(n=35) and group of mystic experience(n=42). We used Dissociative Experience scale-Korean version(DES-K), Symptom Checklist-90-Revised(SCL-90-R), questionnaire about trauma. The result is that the group of mystic experience had a significantly higher tendency to have dissociation and trauma experience than group of non-mystic experience. However, the differ-ence of psychopathology has not been found.
