      • A Study on the Functionality of Halophytes from Coast area of Jeollanam-do

        This study was undertaken to improve the perceived value of halophytes and contribute to the activity of the local economy by analyzing the antioxidant activity and mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina that grow wild on the mud flats and coastal areas. The total phenolic compound content found in each order is as follows: Suaeda japonica (3.674∼5.989 mg TAE/g dry wt.), Tetragonia tetragonoides (2.515∼4.471 mg TAE/g dry wt.), and Spergularia marina (2.450∼4.067 mg TAE/g dry wt.); DPPH radical scavenging and ABTS cation radical scavenging activities were also recorded in the same order. In the case of minerals, Iron(Fe) was relatively high in Suaeda japonica (960.1∼1,346.7 mg/kg), Manganese(Mn) in Tetragonia tetragonoides (197.1∼574.8 mg/kg), and Zinc(Zn) was relatively high in Spergularia marina (63.19∼216.56 mg/kg). It was confirmed that the mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina was significantly higher than that of Chinese cabbage, lettuce, leek, and spinach.

        Long-term outcomes of single-port laparoscopic myomectomy using a modified suture technique

        Objective To evaluate the long-term outcomes, including the pregnancy outcome and recurrence rate after single-port laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) using a modified suture technique with a Hem-o-lok clip (Choi’s LM) and conventional 4-port LM. Methods A retrospective study of patients who underwent Choi’s LM (n=55) and 4-port LM (n=102) in a single institutional hospital was conducted. Patients with <3 symptomatic myomas sized <10 cm each and operated on by a single surgeon were included. Recurrence was confirmed when a myoma measuring ≥3 cm was detected. Results The patients in both groups had similar demographic characteristics. Single (76.4% vs. 62.7%) and intramural (52.7% vs. 56.9%) tumors were commonly detected in both groups in the mean diameter (6.8±1.5 cm vs. 7.0±1.6 cm; P=0.40). In Choi’s LM, 16 patients (29.1%) needed an additional port; those who were nulliparous and/or had a large leiomyoma more frequently required an additional port (P=0.023 and 0.04, respectively). During a median follow-up period of 69 months, 17 patients (7.1% vs. 14.6%) had recurrence. The size of dominant myomas at recurrence was significantly smaller in patients who underwent Choi’s LM (3.4±0.7 cm vs. 5.7±2.4 cm; P=0.004). All 13 patients in both groups who successfully conceived had a full-term delivery. No major complications occurred during pregnancy. Conclusion Although an additional port was frequently used, the long-term outcomes of patients who experienced recurrence and pregnancy after Choi’s LM were acceptable. Considering its usability, Choi’s LM is feasible for the treatment of uterine leiomyoma.

        ■ Objectives The purpose of this case study is to report that a hypertension with intracerebral hemorrhage of tae-eumin was treated with 'Cheongsim Yeunja-tang' and then the symptoms were improved and blood pressure was decreased. ■ Methods Although the patient who had hypertension with intracerebral hemorrhage took antihypertension drugs, intermittent increase of blood pressure was shown. We diagnosed him as Tae-eumin and treated with Cheongsim Yeunja-tang. We daily checked blood pressure and evaluated the symptoms. ■ Results After the treatment with Cheongsim Yeunja-tang, blood pressure was decreased and symptoms were improved. ■ Conclusion The result shows Cheongsim Yeunja-tang has antihypertensive effect and improve hypertension symptoms of Tae-eumin patient with intracerebral hemorrhage.

        21가지 장미꽃 품종의 페놀성 화합물 함량 및 항산화 활성

        본 연구는 21품종의 장미꽃에 대한 식품 및 화장품 원료로 사용 가능성을 살펴보기 위해 페놀성 화합물과 항산화 활성을 평가하였다. 총 폴리페놀, 총 플라보노이드 및 타닌 함량은 러버샤이 품종에서 각각 379.70 mg GAE/extract g, 50.10 mg CE/extract g 및 339.44 mg TAE/extract g으로 높게 나타났으며, 칠백리 품종에서 각각 107.25 mg GAE/extract g, 9.46 mg CE/extract g 및 36.31 mg TAE/extract g으로 낮았다. 페놀산 함량은 총 폴리페놀 함량과 유사한 결과를 보였으며, 러버샤이 품종에서 27.40 mg/extract g으로 높았다. 안토시아닌은 대부분 cyanidin-3,5-diglucoside로 확인되었으며 총 안토시아닌 함량은 유니나 품종에서 8.80 mg/extract g으로 가장 높았다. ABTS 및 DPPH 라디칼 소거 활성은 각각 428.10 및 419.59 mg AAE/extract g로 러버샤이 품종에서 가장 높았으며, 항산화 활성과 페놀 화합물의 함량과 높은 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 러버샤이와 같은 항산화 활성이 뛰어난 품종들이 관상 목적뿐만 아니라 높은 기능성을 가진 식품 및 화장품의 원료로 사용 가능성이 있다고 판단된다. This study evaluated the functional components and antioxidant activities of 21 different rose flower extracts, to confirm their value as a food and cosmetics ingredient. The highest values of total polyphenol, flavonoid and tannin contents (379.70±1.64 mg GAE/extract g, 50.10±0.76 mg CE/extract g, and 339.44±1.20 mg TAE/extract g, respectively) were obtained in Lover Shy. The proanthocyanidin content ranged from 61.88 mg CE/extract g in the Unina cultivar to 5.34±0.13 mg CE/extract g in the Aileen cultivar. The phenolic acid content obtained was highest in the Lover Shy cultivar (27.40±0.26 mg/extract g), whereas highest levels of anthocyanin (8.83±0.03 mg/extract g) were obtained in the Unina cultivar. High ABTS and DPPH radical scavenging activities were determined in the Lover Shy cultivar (428.10±0.29 and 419.59±3.12 mg AAE/extract g, respectively). Taken together, these results indicate that the antioxidant activity and functional components of Lover Shy cultivar are superior, and this extract can potentially be applied as a food and cosmetic ingredient.

        Effect of 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose on Metabolic Status, Proliferative Capacity and Growth Rate of FSall Tumor

        2-DDG가 쥐의 섬유육종(FSall)에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구로 에너지 신진대사는 체내에서의 ³¹P - 자기공명 분광기를 이용하여 관찰하였고 세포 증식 능력은 유세포 분석기를 사용하여 연구하였다. 성장속도는 개의 세포를 C₃Hj/Sed 쥐의 발등에 이식한 후 3차원적으로 측정하여 관찰하였다. 2-DDG를 투여한 경우에는 이식후 12일에 복강내로 주사하였다. 이식후 12일의 종양의 평균 크기는 250㎣이었다. FSall 종양의 성장속도는 semilog graph의 기울기와 종양의 doubling time으로 측정하였다. 2-DDG를 투여한 후 성장속도가 감속되었다. 5~12일 사이의 성장속도의 기울기가 0.828, 종양의 Idubling time이 0.84일이고 대조군에서는 13~28일 사이의 기울기가 0.218, doubling time이 3.2일인 반면 2-DDG 투여군에서는 성장속도의 기울기가 0.135이고 doubling time이 5.1일이었다. ³¹P-자기공명 분광기를 이용하여 2-DDG의 영향을 분석해 본 결과 2-DDG 투여후 종양증식 속도의 감속과 더불어 phosphomonester (PME)와 inorganic phosphate (Pi)의 증가속도가 감소하였다. 이것은 2-DDG 투여후 세포의 괴사가 감소하였다는 의미가 있다. 유세포 분석기를 이용하여 종양의 증식 능력을 분석한 결과는 2-DDG 투여후 S-phase와 G₂+M phase의 DNA 분포가 크게 증가하였다. 이것은 2-DDG 투여후 세포가 좀더 방사선에 민감한 cycle로 진행함을 의미하는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 이에 저자들은 2-DDG가 FSall 종양세포에 미치는 흥미있는 결과를 토대로 방사선 치료에 미치는 영향과 실제 이용 가능성에 대하여 더 연구하고자 한다. The effect of 2-deoxy-d-glucose (2-DDG) on C₃H mouse fibrosarcoma(FSall) was studied, Metabolic status, especially for energy metabolism, was studied using in vivo P-MRS, prolifer-ative capacity was observed on flow cytometry(FC) and growth rate was measured after trans-plantation of viable tumor cells in the dorsum of foot of C₃Hf/Sed mice. One gram of 2-DDG per kg of body weight was injected intraperitoneally on 12th day of implantation. Average tumor size on 12th day of implantion was 250㎣. Growth rate of FSall tumor was measured by tumor doubling time and slope on semilog plot. After 2-DDG injection, growth rate slowed down. Tumor doubling time between tumor age 5-12 days was 3.2 days with slope 0.218 in control group. After 2-DDG injection, tumor doubling time was elongated to 5.1 days with slope 0.136. The effect of 2-DDG studied in vivo P-MRS suggested that the increase of phosphomonoes-ter (PME) and inorganic phosphate (Pi) by increasing size of tumor, slowed down after 2-DDG injection. Flow cytometry showed significantly increased S-phase and G₂ + M phase fraction suggesting increased proliferative capacity of tumor cells in the presence of 2-DDG. Authors observed an interesting effect of 2-DDG on FSall tumor and attempt to utilize as an adjunct for radiotherapy.

        Arteriovenous fistula of uterus is a very rare cause of massive uterine bleeding. However, it is important to make a rapid and precise diagnosis when it does occur, because life-threatening massive vaginal bleeding may occasionally be a symptom of this disease. Uterine curettage or surgical trauma can cause vascular abnormalities, including pseudoaneurysms, acquired ateriovenous malformations, ateriovenous fistulas, and rupture of vessels. The diagnosis is made by angiography, and gray scale ultrasonography, color and duplex doppler ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging is helpful. Ultrasonography is the most commonly performed initial imaging examination for evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding. Color and duplex Doppler US is an appropriate modality for the detection and diagnosis of uterine ateriovenous malformations and for follow-up after embolization. Transcatheter embolization has replaced hysterectomy as the treatment of choice in women wish to retain thier fertility. A case of arteriovenous malformation of the uterus which was diagnosed by ultrasonography. So reported this case with a brief review of the literature.

      • 액체소듐속에서 소듐-물반응에 의한 재질의 Wastage현상

        In this study we observed and analyzed the corrosion phenomena in leak site and the effect on temperature at the target surface of heat transfer tube material by sodium-water reaction through water leakage in liquid sodium atmosphere. Surrounding of leak hole of the specimen was damaged by the wastage phenomena due to corrosion and erosion of material, and hole size by damage of leak site was extended from 150㎛ to about 200㎛. Also, the damaged size appeared in the target surface was observed to about 1000㎛ diameter. The temperature of target surface increased about 70~80℃ by the heat of sodium-water reaction even with the small leakage of 15㎖ water. From the results of EPMA and EDX analysis, damaged area are found to covered with complex compounds such as (NaOH+Na_2O) FexOy or (NaCrO_2+nA_2CrO4) mixed up with the sodium oxides by sodium-water reaction and the Fe or Cr element by matrix of tube sodium oxides by matrix of tube material.

        대용섬유자원으로써 어저귀를 이용한 한지제조(제1보) : 어저귀의 건물 생산량 및 펄프화 특성 Productivity and Pulping Characteristics of Indian Mallow

        본 실험은 산림자원의 감소 예방과 지구의 환경보존을 위해서 생장이 빠르고 펄프원자재로 활용할 수 있는 비목재 섬유작물을 도입하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 또한 부족한 한지의 원료인 닥나무를 수입하고 있는 실정에서, 국내에서 자생하고 있는 비목재섬유로 한지를 제조함으로써 수입대체 및 원가절감 등 일석이조의 효과를 거둘 수 있다. 이에 불량한 환경조건에서도 생육이 왕성한 어저귀(Abutilon avicennae G.)를 재배하여 그간의 진보된 펄프 제조기술을 적용하여 새로운 제지용 원료로 개발함으로써 부족한 원자재는 물론이거니와 국내 부존자원 이용의 극대화를 꾀하고자 실시하였다. 또한 폐기처리되는 농산물의 이용극대화를 꾀하기 위해 전목펄프화를 실시하였다. 그 결과 어저귀는 생장속도가 빠르고 수확기가 짧으며 집약적 재배 및 관리가 가능하여 단위면적당 최대의 수확량을 올릴 수 있었다. 어저귀 인피부의 섬유장은 2.4㎜로써 목재섬유 중 소나무와, 비목재섬유 중 케나프와 매우 유사한 결과를 보여주었고, 화학성분의 분석결과 어저귀 섬유는 추출성분의 함량이 높고 리그닌이 적은 것이 특징적으로 나타났다. 펄프화와 관련하여 인피부는 150℃에서 48∼57%, 전간부는 170℃에서 43∼51%의 높은 수율을 나타냈고, 설포메틸 펄프화법의 수율이 더 높게 나타났다. 펄프의 탈리그닌율도 두가지 펄프화법 모두 90% 이상의 높은 탈리그닌율을 나타내었다. Indian mallow is characterized by the rapid growth and high harvest of the fibrous materials. This study was carried out to investigate the sheet properties of Hanji using Indian mallow, made by different pulping methods, such as alkali and sulfomethylated pulpings and different stock compositions, various mixing ratios of bast fiber, woody core and whole stalk fibers. The results from this study were summarized as follows. The length and width of the bast fibers were 1.40∼4.30㎜(av. 2.35㎜) and 9.2∼26.4㎛(av. 18.3㎛), respectively. The cell wall thickness was 4.0∼11.5㎛(av. 7.7㎛). Runkel ratio, flexibility coefficient and fiber length/fiber width ratio were 1.38, 0.42 and 128 respectively. Bast fiber and whole stalk were cooked by alkali and sulfomethylated methods. Sulfomethylated pulping resulted in superior pulp in terms of yield and quality as compared with those of alkali pulping. The pulp yields of bast fiber was higher than those of whole stalk.

      • 능동 클램프 ZVS 플라이백 컨버터의 역률개선에 관한 연구

        본 논문에서는 single-stage, two-stage 두가지 역률보상(PFC)기법을 기존의 능동 클램프 플라이백 컨버터에 적용하여 역률 개선을 하였다. 삽입된 플라이백 컨버터의 능동클램프회로가 주스위치와 보조스위치의 영전압스위칭(ZVS)을 구현하며, 스위칭 손실을 줄임으로써 고효율을 얻을 수 있고, 높은 주파수에서의 스위칭이 가능하다. 하지만 일반적으로 사용되는 다이오드정류기, 평활용커패시터에 의한 낮은 역률의 문제점이 남아있다. 본 논문에서는 300W급 능동 클램프ZVS플라이백 컨버터를 설계하여 single-stage, two-stage방식을 적용, 입력역률개선을 시뮬레이션과 실험에 의해 입증하고자 한다. This paper analyzed PFC of active clamp ZVS flyback converter by adding two method PFC (Power Factor Correction) circuit - two-stage and single-stage. The addition of active clamp circuit also provide a mechanism for achieving ZVS of both the primary and auxiliary switches. ZVS also limits the turn off di/dt of the output rectifier, reducing rectifier switching loss and switching noise, due to diode reverse recovery. As a results, the proposed converters have characteristics of the reduced switching noise and high efficiency in comparison to conventional flyback converter. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed converters improve the input PF of 300W ZVS flyback converter by adding single-stage, two-stage PFC circuit.

        대용섬유자원으로써 어저귀를 이용한 한지제조 (제2보) : 인피 및 목질부 섬유를 이용한 한지 제조 Manufacturing of The Hanjis Made from Bast Fiber and woody core fibers

        생장속도가 빨라서 단위면적당 Biomass의 생산량이 많은 어저귀(Indian mallow, Abutilon avicennae G.)를 원료로 하여 펄프화하였으며, 제조한 한지의 물리적·기계적·현미경적 특성에 관하여 비교 검토하였다. 제조한 한지의 특성을 살펴보면 광학적, 강도적 현미경적인 특성에서 설포메틸 펄프화법이 우수한 결과를 나타냈고, 장섬유인 인피부 펄프에 대한 단섬유인 목질부 펄프의 혼입량 증가에 따른 변화에 있어 지질(밀도, 백색도, 불투명도, 지합)의 변화는 점차 증가했으나, 강도는 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. This study was carried out to investigate the sheet properties of Indian mallow Hanji, made by different pulping methods, such as alkali and sulfomethylated pulpings, and different stock compositions, various mixing ratios of bast fiber and woody core fibers. Indian mallow hanjis made from the sulfomethylated pulps had higher brightness and sheet strength than the alkali pulps. It was found that the brightness of sulfomethylated pulp was enough high without an extra-bleaching. In the mechanical properties of Indian mallow hanjis mixed with bast fiber and woody core stalk pulps, the sheet strength were decreased as wood core pulps contents were increased. The sheet formation were increased as the increase of woody core pulps contents, while the sheet strength decreased Although the sulfomethylated pulping resulted in higher pulp yield, no morphological differences of fiber surfaces were shown as compared to the different pulping methods.
