        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        Upregulation of heme oxygenase-1 by ginsenoside Ro attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation in macrophage cells

        Background: The beneficial effects of ginsenoside species have been well demonstrated in a number of studies. However, the function of ginsenoside Ro (GRo), an oleanane-type saponin, has not been sufficiently investigated. Thus, the aim of the present study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of GRo in vitro using the Raw 264.7 mouse macrophage cell line treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and to clarify the possible mechanism of GRo involving heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), which itself plays a critical role in self-defense in the presence of inflammatory stress. Methods: Raw 264.7 cells were pretreated with GRo (up to $200{\mu}M$) for 1 h before treatment with 1 mg/mL LPS, and both cell viability and inflammatory markers involving HO-1 were evaluated. Results: GRo significantly increased cell viability in a dose dependent manner following treatment with LPS, and decreased levels of reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide. GRo decreased inflammatory cytokines such as nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 induced by LPS. Moreover, GRo increased the expression of HO-1 in a dose dependent manner. Cotreatment of GRo with tin protoporphyrin IX, a selective inhibitor of HO-1, not only inhibited upregulation of HO-1 induced by GRo, but also reversed the anti-inflammatory effect of GRo in LPS treated Raw 264.7 cells. Conclusion: GRo induces anti-inflammatory effects following treatment with LPS via upregulation of HO-1.

      • 합성골조 외부접합부의 전단변형에 관한 해석

        전편의 실험연구에 이어, 본 논문은 스프링모델을 사용한 합성접합부의 변형해석 모델을 설명하고 있다. 최근 들어 접합부상세에 따른 콘크리트의 구속특성을 고려한 접근방법이 Wight에 의해 제시되어, 이를 조사하였으며, 또한 실험결과와 비교하여 내진성능을 평가하였다. Wight는 변형예측을 위하여 평면응력에 근거한 간단한 해석을 제시하고 있으나, 본 연구의 접합부와는 상이한 구속 및 기하학적 조건을 포함하고 있으므로 구속계수 k_c값의 수정이 요구되었다. 이렇게 하여 예측된 결과는 실험결과와 어느 정도 일치하였다. Further to the companion paper that treats a experimental research carried out as part of this research, various analytical approaches to model the joint deformation based on a series of springs was also examined. Recently, To consider the enhanced characteristics of confined concrete depending on joint details, the procedure and an empirical constant for the enhanced strength suggested by Wight was adopted. The analytical model presented including the joint deformation can be used for the future overall building analyses. Further, modifications for defining the enhanced properties of confined concrete and inclination angles for struts and uniform, stress fields tests are necessary for present tests in predicting the shear versus shear strain response of a joint panel with the Wight's procedure.

        복합레진의 exponential 중합법이 상아질접착제의 미세인장접착강도에 미치는 영향

        접착제를 통해 치아에 접착되는 상부의 복합레진의 빠른 중합은 접착제층에 높은 중합수축응력을 발생시킨다. 중합수축응력을 경감시키기 위해서, LED 광중합기의 하나인 Elipar FreeLight 2 (3M ESPE, USA)에서는 최초 5초 이내에 광강도를 증가시키는 exponential 중합법을 채택하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 짧은 시간내에 광강도를 증가시키는 exponential 중합법이 복합레진의 초기 중합수축속도를 효과적으로 조절할 수 있는지를 알아보기 위해 접착제 적용 후 상부의 복합레진을 exponential 중합법과 continuous 중합법으로 중합하여 상아질접착제의 미세인장접착강도를 비교하였다. 3M사의 Scotchbond Multipurpose Plus (MP), Single Bond 2 (SB), 및 Adper Prompt (AP)의 세 종류의 접착제를 발치한 대구치의 교합면 상아질에 제조사의 지시에 따라 적용하고, 혼합형 복합레진인 Denfil (Vericom, Korea)을 두 가지 광중합방법으로 중합하였다. 접착 후 48시간에 미세인장접착강도를 측정하고, 파절면은 FE-SEM.으로 관찰하였다. 그 결과, 각각의 접착제에서 중합방법에 따른 접착강도의 차이는 관찰할 수 없었다(Two-way ANOVA, p > 0.05). MP와 SB의 미세인장접착강도는 AP에 비해 유의하게 높았다(p < 0.05). 대부분의 파절시편에서는 혼합형 파절이 가장 많이 관찰되었으나, 중합방법에 따른 파절양상의 차이는 없었다. 결론적으로 5초 이내의 짧은 시간에 광강도를 증가시키는 exponential 중합법은 continuous 중합법과 비교하여 상아질접착제의 미세인장접착강도에 영향을 주지 않았다. Objectives: Rapid polymerization of overlying composite resin causes high polymerization shrinkage stress at the adhesive layer. In order to alleviate the shrinkage stress, increasing the light intensity over the first 5 seconds was suggested as an exponential curing mode by an LED light curing unit (Elipar FreeLight2, 3M ESPE). In this study, the effectiveness of the exponential curing mode on reducing stress was evaluated with measuring microtensile bond strength of three adhesives after the overlying composite resin was polymerized with either continuous or exponential curing mode. Methods: Scotchbond Multipurpose Plus (MP, 3M ESPE), Single Bond 2 (SB, 3M ESPE), and Adper Prompt (AP, 3M ESPE) were applied onto the flat occlusal dentin of extracted human molar. The overlying hybrid composite (Denfil, Vericom, Korea) was cured under one of two exposing modes of the curing unit. At 48h from bonding, microtensile bond strength was measured at a crosshead speed of 1.0 mm/min. The fractured surfaces were observed under FE-SEM. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the microtensile bond strengths of each adhesive between curing methods (Two-way ANOVA, p > 0.05). The microtensile bond strengths of MP and SB were significantly higher than that of AP (p < 0.05). Mixed failures were observed in most of the fractured surfaces, and differences in the failure mode were not observed among groups. Conclusion: The exponential curing method had no beneficial effect on the microtensile dentin bond strengths of three adhesives compared to continuous curing method.

        As the roughness coefficient by existing manning table is used by technician's experience and judgement, it isn't always correct. This study as a try to make quantitative roughness coefficient is to suggest a new application mode computerizing roughness coefficient by surveying the velocity and hydraulic condition of small rivers. The bound of roughness coefficient was 0.027∼0.180 and its values distribute uniformly. This means that the roughness coefficient adapt value Manning table cannot fill up the transformed value when the small rivers are low. The roughness coefficient computation mode in this study with hydraulic radius(R), channel slope(I), average grain diameter(D) as subject factors presents as follows. n = 5.97R^0.671 l^0.452 D^0.059

      • 내담자 저항에 대한 이론적 고찰 Ⅱ : Cognitive-Behavioral Approaches 인지행동적 접근

        요 약 본고에서는 내담자 저항과 관련된 주요 심리치료 접근들의 이론적 입장과 개념화를 비판적으로 검토하는 일련의 연속된 연구들 중 두 번째 연구로서, 주로 정신분석 이론의 틀 내에서 논의되어 왔던 내담자 저항의 개념이 인지행동적 이론에서 어떻게 다루어지고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 보다 구체적으로, 인지행동 이론에서 저항 개념이 등장하게 된 과정, 저항에 대한 인지행동적 정의와 개념화, 그리고 저항의 출처와 유형에 대해 살펴보았다. 아울러, 저항에 대한 인지행동적 개념화가 정신분석적 개념화와 어떤 유사성과 차이점이 있는지를 논의하였고, 인지행동적 개념화로부터 이론적으로 도출될 수 있는 몇 가지 검증 가능한 가설들을 제시하였다. 마지막으로, 인지행동적 개념화가 지니는 문제점들과 이에 대한 대안들을 논의하였다.

      • SOL-GEL법을 이용한 강유전체 BaTiO₃박막 및 Ceramics 제조

        Concentrated solution was prepared for a sol-gel process of BaTiO₃. Barium hydroxide and Ti-isopropoxide were used as the raw materials with methanol and isopropanol as solvents. Dense ferroelectric polycrystalline BaTiO₃thin films with the perovskite structure were fabricated by spin coating of the prepared concentrated solution on a few substrates. From XRD investigation, it was confirmed that tetragonal phase of polycrystalline BaTiO₃powders are formed after heat treatment above 550℃ in air and grain-oriented BaTiO₃thin films are obtained by coating of 0.06M concentrated solution on the substrates. It was observed that surfaces of thin films deposited on the substrates by our methods were formed crack-free and uniformly. The thickness of thin film which depends the concentration of the solution was 400∼900Å for 1 time coating, which was confirmed by SEM analysis. Ceramics and thin films show dielectric constant of 4600 (at 1㎑) and capacitance 300∼800㎊ (at 1㎑) at room temperature, respectively.

      • 강모단 하방에 용수철이 부착된 칫솔의 치태 제거 효과에 관한 임상적 연구

        Oral examinations were conducted before the experiment started. The students were given common toothbrushes (control group) or spring-attached toothbrushes (experimental group) and instructed to brush their teeth by scrubbing method. Measurement of plaque index and count of salivary bacteria were done at 0, 1, 3, and 5 weeks. 1. Mean plaque index was significantly reduced at week 1 compared with at week 0 in both groups. (P<0.05) 2. Mean plaque index was significantly reduced at week 3 compared with at week 1 in the experimental group. (P<0.05) 3. Mean plaque index was significantly reduced at week 5 compared with at week 3 in the experimental group. (P<0.05) 4. There were no significant differences of mean plaque index among week 1, week 3, and week 5 in control group. (P>0.05) 5. The number of salivary bacteria was slightly reduced during the experiment, however there was no statistical significance. (P>0.05) To reduce the plaque effectively, the use of spring-attached toothbrush should be recommended, and adequeate instruction for children is needed.

        고온 용융염에서 Fe-Base 합금의 부식거동

        In the development of the advanced spent fuel management process based on the molten salt technology, it is essential to choose the optimum material for the process equipment handling molten salt. The corrosion behaviors of 304 S.S., 321 S.S., 316 LN S.S. and Incoloy 800 H in a molten salt of LiCI-Li₂O were investigated in the temperature range of 650-800℃. The oxide scales consisting of Fe₃O₄i FeCr₂O₄and Cr₂O₃ were formed in the 304 S.S., 321 S.S., 316 LN S.S. and Incoloy 800 H regardless of reaction temperature and time. The order of corrosion rate was Incoloy 800 H < 316 LN S.S. < 321 S.S. < 304 S.S.. Incoloy 800 H showed uniform corrosion behavior, whereas 304 S.S., 321 S.S. and 316 LN S.S. showed intergranular corrosion behavior. Incoloy 800 H with high Ni content exhibited the highest corrosion resistance among the examined alloys. (Received February 27, 2004)
