권혁남,안병찬 국립중앙박물관 1999 박물관보존과학 Vol.1 No.-
More than 200 objects selected for the newly-opened Gimhae National Museum were treated for conservation. The objects which represent ancient Gaya culture. were mainly composed of metallic such as gilt bronze, silver, copper alloy and iron. The corrosion products on gilt bronze and copper alloy objects were preserved or removed according to their stability. Minimum treatment was done for preserving the original state of the objects. For silver objects and iron objects with silver-plate decorations, silver surfaces were revealed after treatment of corrosion products and treatments to prevent corrosion of silver and iron were done emphatically. For iron objects, which were stabilized, the original shape of objects was restored and acrylic coating was applied to prevent further corrosion. For the objects which were being corroded, 2-step de-chloride treatments were undertaken. The first step was immersing the objects in a solution of 0.3M sodium hydroxide and the. second was the pressure de-chloride treatment using borax-distilled water. The main purpose of those treatments was to get rid of the causes of corrosion. Besides, conservation treatments for potteries, making of special mounting board for exhibition and amendment of various modeling were done too.

Otitis media with effusion (OME) is one of the most common disease in children but its pathogenesis is not clear. In particular the role of allergy has revealed conflicting support with widely varing opinions as to its importance. Within recent years, striking biochemical and immunochemical analytic techniques have opened a new approach the study of otitis media with effusion. So we focused on distributions of IgE in adenoid tissue and serum IgE levels. Authors compared the serum IgE and the distribution of IgE in adenoid tissue between the 20 patients underwent tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and ventilating tube insertion and control group of 11 patients underwent tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. The results were as follows; 1. In the distribution of IgE in adenoid tissue, there was a significant increase in the group of patients with OME compared to the control group (P<0.01). 2. In the analysis of serum IgE levels, the levels of IgE in the OME patients an control group were higher than normal level, although the level of IgE in the OME patients were less than that of control group, there was no significance P>0.05).

Background : In recent years gonorrhoea has been panendemic and remains one of the most common Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Method : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria Gonorrhoeae(PPNG), Ive have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1994, 168 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 109 (64,9% ) were PPNG. Conclustion : Our results suggests that the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is still increasing.

We tested fruits quality and skin coloration of two pear cultivar ‘Wonhwang’ and ‘Whasan’ produced by bagging with different kinds of paper bags in the Cheonan area, Chungnam Province, Korea. The fruits were bagged at 35, 45, 55 or 65 days after full bloom (DAFB) with 3 kinds of double layer paper bag which consisted of grey color, yellow color and newspaper for outer layer. The great extent of light interruption was observed in grey colored outer paperbag among three kinds of paperbag which showed only 0.46% of lowest light transmittance when compared with 43.7% and 40.0% of yellow paper and newspaper, respectively. The development of skin redness (a*) increased with the delay of bagging time in two pear cultivars. But the fruits treated at 65 DAFB showed uneven coloration and excessive development of redness which represented low fruit external appearance value. Uniform flesh firmness was attained at the fruits bagged with grey outer color paperbag regardless of bagging time, although the fruit quality indices including soluble solids and titratable acidity did not change significantly by using different kind of fruit bags and bagging time in two pear cultivar. Based on our results, it was explained that the grey-colored fruit bag had positive effect on the development of skin coloration without any detrimental effect on fruit quality factors in ‘Wonhwang’ and ‘Whasan’ pears.

Nanowire FET Biosensors on a Bulk Silicon Substrate
Ahn, Jae-Hyuk,Kim, Jee-Yeon,Choi, Kyungyong,Moon, Dong-Il,Kim, Chang-Hoon,Seol, Myeong-Lok,Park, Tae Jung,Lee, Sang Yup,Choi, Yang-Kyu IEEE 2012 IEEE transactions on electron devices Vol.59 No.8

A biosensor based on a nanowire field-effect transistor is demonstrated on a bulk silicon wafer for low-cost applications. The silicon nanowire is fabricated using a simple reactive-ion etching technique known as the Bosch process. The sensor operation of the fabricated device is confirmed as a proof of concept by detecting the negatively and positively charged polymers on the nanowire surface in real time. The drain current of the device is clearly modulated by the charge polarity of the polymers. In addition, the specific binding of the antigen and the antibody for avian influenza is also detected by a real-time label-free electrical method for practical applications. Control experiments support that a charged species only on the nanowire surface leads to a significant change in the drain current of the sensor. The proposed approach in bulk nanowire biosensors paves the way for the application of complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor technology for low-cost and miniaturized biosensors without external transducers; this approach is attractive in disposable and portable applications.

Double-Gate Nanowire Field Effect Transistor for a Biosensor
Ahn, Jae-Hyuk,Choi, Sung-Jin,Han, Jin-Woo,Park, Tae Jung,Lee, Sang Yup,Choi, Yang-Kyu American Chemical Society 2010 NANO LETTERS Vol.10 No.8

A silicon nanowire field effect transistor (FET) straddled by the double-gate was demonstrated for biosensor application. The separated double-gates, G1 (primary) and G2 (secondary), allow independent voltage control to modulate channel potential. Therefore, the detection sensitivity was enhanced by the use of G2. By applying weakly positive bias to G2, the sensing window was significantly broadened compared to the case of employing G1 only, which is nominally used in conventional nanowire FET-based biosensors. The charge effect arising from biomolecules was also analyzed. Double-gate nanowire FET can pave the way for an electrically working biosensor without a labeling process.

Graphic Abstract

ACS Electronic Supporting Info
