        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1997. 99 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 45(45.5%) were PPNG. Conclusion : The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 45.5% in 1997.

        Background : For cultivation of varieties of ginseng, the pure line selection method, which is to select the best among those cultivated in farms for pedigree breeding, replicated yield trials and regional adaptation trials before registering as a new variety, is widely used. Although there are 25 registered varieties of ginseng in Korea, the quality of ginseng is declining together with the amount of harvest being decreased by 15 - 20% due to the heat injuries and diseases from the warming & abnormal climate. Thus, the needs for development of disaster-resistant varieties with better chances of surviving through high temperature, salts and disease are increasing. Therefore, this study is to cultivate disaster-resistant varieties among those selected for their disaster tolerance and salt tolerance through regional adaptation trials. Methods and Results : As a result of examining the growth characteristics of the selected 2 - 5 year old varieties used in the study, among the 5-year old crops, Goryeo 4 and Eumseong 5 showed superior growth in both above and below aerial parts, and among the 4-year old crops, Eumseong 11 and Cheonryang showed superior growth while the growth in the below aerial parts were satisfactory in the order of Cheonryang > Eumseong 10 > Eumseong 11 > Eumseong 9. Among the 3-year old crops, the most superior growth in both above and below aerial parts was observed in Eumseong 14 with the weight of the below aerial part, root diameter and taproot length at 13.8 g, 11.8 ㎝ and 6.2 ㎝ respectively. Among the 2-year old crops, Eumseong 10 showed the most superior growth in both above and below aerial parts. Conclusion : Based on the above results, Goryeo 4 and Eumseong 5 among the 5-year old crops, Eumseong 11 among the 4-year old crops, Eumseong 14 among the 3-year old crops and Eumseon 10 among the 2-year old crops showed the most superior growth among the selected varieties. The growth characteristics of both above and below aerial parts in each year will continuously be monitored.

        한국인 직무 스트레스 측정도구의 개발 및 표준화

        Background and Purposes: Over the past three decades, numerous studies performed in Korea have reported that job stress is a determinant risk factor for chronic diseases and work disability. Every society has its own culture and occupational climate particular to their organizations, and hence experiences different occupational stress. An occupational stress measurement tool therefore needs to be developed to estimate it objectively. The purpose of this study is to develop and standardize the Korean Occupational Stress Scale (KOSS) which is considered to be unique and specific occupational stressors in Korean employees. Subjects and Methods: Data were obtained from the National Study for Development and Standardization of Occupational Stress (NSDSOS Project: 2002-2004). A total of 12,631 employees from a nationwide sample proportional to the Korean Standard Industrial Classification and the Korean Standard Occupational Classification were administered. The KOSS was developed for 2 years (2002-2004). In the first year, we collected 255 items from the most popular job stress measurement tools such as JCQ, ERI, NIOSH and OSI, and 44 items derived from the a qualitative study (depth interview). Forty-three items of KOSS, in the second year, were retained for use in the final version of the KOSS by using Delphi and factor analysis. Items were scored using conventional 1-2-3-4 Likert scores for the response categories. Results: We developed eight subscales by using factor analysis and validation process: physical environment (3 items), job demand (8 items), insufficient job control (5 items), interpersonal conflict (4 items), job insecurity (6 items), organizational system (7 items), lack of reward (6 items), and occupational climate (4 items). Together they explained 50.0% of total variance. Internal consistency alpha scores were ranged from 0.51 to 0.82. Twenty-four items of the short form of the KOSS (KOSS-SF) were also developed to estimate job stress in the work setting. Because the levels of the subscales of occupational stress were gender dependent, gender-specific standard norms for both the 43-item full version and the 24-item short form using a quartile for the subscales of KOSS were presented. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that KOSS might be an appropriate measurement scale to estimate occupational stress of Korean employees. Further and more detailed study needs to be conducted to improve the validity of this scale.

      • 어지럼증 환자의 전정기능, 시각기능, 체성감각기능의 장애에 대한 연구 : 전산화 동적 자세측정기 연구 compuputerized dynamic posturography study

        Dizziness is a balance disorder. Balance is made up of three biological functions ; sensory input, motor output, and biomechanical component. Sensory input is made up of vestibular, visual, and somatosensory input. The EquiTest System is a tool to evaluate the degree of the vestibular, visual, and somatosensory dysfunction in dizziness and it’s technique is called computerized dynamic posturography(CDP) to analyze the patient’s ability to maintain balance in dizziness. We investigated Korean healthy population and dizziness patients to study the degree of the vestibular, visual, and somatosensory dysfunction with EquiTest System CDP. The results of this study were as follows 1. The control group was 112 Korean Healthy population with a mean age of 40±19 years. In SOT, the ranged of median equilibrium scores were 93, 91, 92, 80, 72, 68 from condition 1 to 6, respectively. In sensory ratio study, the mean somatosensory ratio was 98, visual ratio was 86, vestibular ratio were 77. 2. The patients group was 324 dizziness patients with a mean age 42±17 who visited Dankook University Hospital from January 1996 to December 1997. 3. Vestibular, visual, and somatosensory dysfunctions in the dizzy patients were occurred in 169(52%), 65(20%), 19(6%) cases, respectively. 4. Combined vestibular and visual dysfunction, vestibular and somatosensory dysfunction, vestibular and visual and somatosensory dysfunction in the dizzy patients occurred in 42(13%), 16(5%), 13(4%) cases, respectively.

      • 급속 열처리시킨 n-GaAs에서 Photoreflectance 연구

        The characteristics of rapid thermal annealed n-GaAs(100) is analyzed by the photoreflectance(PR) measurement. The Si highly doped n-GaAs was observed the FKO signals. The bandgap(E?) and surface electric field(E?) of as-grown sample were 1.423 eV and 2.65×10? V/cm, respectively. In the rapid thermal annealed samples, E? was increased and then decreased by increasing anealing temperature, and it was increased again at 800 ℃. These results could be explained by decreasing of the non-radiative recombination on samples. For the time dependence of the rapid thermal annealing, the amplitude of the PR signal was maximum at 20 sec, and E? was increased by 10.7 times than that of as-grown sample.

        Recently symbiotic and environmentally friendly architectures have been considered to be very important as the interest has been gathered on environmental problems on the earth and to be comfortable environment corresponding various desires of peoples residing, For the architecture, it has to be preceded to understand regional climatic characteristics correctly. For the purpose, long term weather data on the broad area are necessary but in Korea weather data can be collected from only 69 stations using architecturally(plan, climate characteristics analysis) of 470 stations. Therefore, in this paper the climate zone is established using the AWS(Automatic Weather System) weather data of 43 stations and the data of 11 meterological observatories and weather stations in Pusan-Kyeongnam area.

      • 아몰퍼스 자성박대의 자기센서 응용에 관한 연구

        In this thesis, we have described about application of amorphous magnetic ribbon of FeCoSiB compound to magnetic sensing device. As the samples of our experiment, we used a near zero-magnetostrictive amorphous magnetic ribbon of (Fe0.06Co0.94)79Si2.1B18.9 composition with its thickness of 26[㎛], its length of 5[㎝] and its width of 2[㎜], which was fabricated by rapidly quenching method. In order to improve the magnetic properties of the samples, we annealed them under magnetic field where the range of the crystallization temperature Tx and the Curie temperature Tc were 300~400[℃]. Then, by measuring them with X-ray diffraction(XRD) and vibrating sample megnetometer(VSM) analysis method. we found Tx≒451[℃] and Tc≒441[℃]. From the hysteresis curve of the finally annealed sample ribbon, we found the Large Bakhausen Jump(LBJ) effect at the reversal magnetization field Hw≒0.5[Oe]. This LBJ effect was also observed at the variation of the magnetic domain in the process of magnetization. Thus, it is proved that the amorphous magnetic ribbon of FeCoSiB compound can be use as a magnetic sensing device.

      • Mg₂SiO₄ : La, Ho 열형광선량계에서 활성제 농도가 글로우 커브에 미치는 영향 La, Ho TLD on Activation Concentration

        본 연구에서는 Mg₂SiO₄에 활성화 물질로 La, Ho를 첨가하여 열형광체를 제작하였고 불순물의 농도를 1wt.% ∼5 wt.%까지 변화시키면서 열평광강도의 glow curve를 측정하였다. 도한 열형광체의 glow curve를 peak shape법으로 분석해서 TL특성에 대한 포획 매개변수와 활성화 에너지, 발광차수, 선량의존성등을 조사하였으며, 그 물리적 특성을 조사하고 선량계로서 타당성과 실용성을 확인하였다. The Mg₂SiO₄: La, Ho thermoluminescent phospher has been prepared by sintring Mg₂SiO₄after doping the transition elements La and Ho. The heating rate is 10℃/sec at this thermoluminescent phospher are heated. The maximum peaks are found in the measured Mg₂SiO₄: La and Ho. TL glow curve at 229℃ and 345 C when the 1 wt.%-5 wt.%. The glow curve of TLD increased TL intensity and temperature of peak appears to the high temperature when the heating rate is l0℃/sec-25℃/sec. The activation energy of the main peak has been estimated by the peak shape method. The estimated activation energies are 1.77 eV. 1.52 eV respectively. The thermoluminescence process in Mg₂SiO₄: La and Ho are found to the 2nd order when the main peak of the glow curve is analyzed by peak shape method. The dose responses of Mg₂SiO₄: La and Ho TLD are linear up to intensity of X-ray.

      • 4,5-bis(hexanoyloxy)의 dodecame 合成 및 그 潤滑性

        4,5-Bis(hexanoyloxy) dodecane was syntheisized from 4,5-dodecanediol which was obtained through continuous reaction steps starting from n-octyl alcohol. All the intermediates and final products were purified by way of distillation or crystallization, and confirmed by IR spectrophotometer and refractometer. Physical properties of the diester synthesized were also determined for the flowing point and solidifying point. It was observed that the flowing point of the diester was under-78℃, and it appeared that the diester synthesized is much more superior to the common mineral lubricant on the base of the solidifying temperature.
