Serial values for hematologic and biochemical analysis after myocardial infarction in rats

To diagnose acute myocardial infarction(MI), many cardiac markers have been used in hematologic and biochemical analysis, and many studies have been published for hema-tologic and biochemical analysis associated with human acute MI. However, after occurrence of acute MI, the serial investigation for values in hematologic and bioche-mical analysis including chronic MI has rarely been performed. To observe the change of the serial values in hematologic and biochemical analysis, we induced artificial MI. The left main descending artery(LMDA) of the left coronary artery was ligated during the progression(day 1, 3, 5, 7, 14 and 30) of MI. Total 66 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into the sham group(n=24, thoracotomy without LMDA ligation) and the experimental(MI) group(n=42, with LMDA ligation). And all individual in each group was sacrified at day 1, 3, 5, 7, 14 and 30 for the hematologic and biochemical analysis. In comparison of hematologic analysis between the sham and MI groups, the mean values of red blood cell(RBCs), hemoglobin and hematocrit(HCT) showed a steady increase. In biochemical analysis, the mean values of glucose, choles-terol, total creatine kinase(CK) and isoenzyme MB, and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) were increased in all MI groups compared with the sham groups. The results of this study suggest that early hematologic and biochemical mean values occurred after acute MI are similar to those of human acute MI. In conclusion, we could observe the alterations and serial values in hematologic and biochemical analysis to the extent of chronic status after acute MI.

Study on Aging Effect of Adhesion Strength Between Polyimide Film and Copper Layer

This paper experimentally confirmed that the adhesion strength of the copper layer formed on the surface of the polyimidefilm by wet plating greatly changes with the aging time. The adhesion strength of the copper layer showed a rapid increasefrom 4 to 10 h after aging had begun and then converged to a value without a significant change. The adhesion enhancementbetween polyimide film and copper layer by aging is due to the interlocking effect caused by the volume expansion of copperoxide (CuO) formed in the polyimide, the increased mobility of copper particles enlarged by the decrease of impuritiesin the copper layer grain boundaries, and the consequent change of the crystal structure of the copper layer leading to theinternal stress reduction. Such adhesion improvement can be confirmed by the progress of the cohesive failure indicatingthe breakdown of the polyimide film.
대합(Meretrix lusoria Ro¨ding)의 간췌장에 기생하는 Rickettsia-like organisms 에 대한 연구

대합, Meretrix lusoria의 폐사 원인을 조사하기 위해 1999년 2월부터 12월까지 전북지역의 대합을 채취하여 병리조직학적 검사를 실시하였다. 조직학적 검사결과 대합의 아가미와 간췌장의 상피세포에서 구형 또는 타원형의 호염기성 봉입체가 관찰되었다. 감염 조질은 상피세포의 비대 또는 세포용해 현상과 심한 경우 소화맹낭 조직이 파괴되어 있었다. 세포내 봉입체를 투과전자 현미경으로 관찰한 결과 rickettsia-like organisms(1.2∼2.0㎛ or 0.27∼0.58×1.18㎛)으로 확인되었다. 또한 주변의 괴사 조직에서 크기가 매우 작고, 세포벽을 가지고 있으며 미네랄화된 nanobacteria(146∼600×261∼625nm)가 다수 관찰되었다. nanobacteria가 감염된 조직에서는 심한 세포질의 공포화 현상이 관찰되었으며, 다수의 크리스탈성 과립도 함께 관찰되었다. The histopathological survey was performed to search for the cause of mass mortality of the hard clam Meretris lusoria in 1999. Histological section showed spherical or elongated intracellular basophilic inclusions in the gill filaments and digestive diverticula of the moribund clams. The hypertrophy and lysis of epithelial cells and multifocal necrosis were observed in affected tissues. TEM demonctrated two different rickettsia-like organisms; the one was large, coccoidal (1.2~2.0㎛ in diamenter) organisms observed in the nera nuclei and the other was polymorphic, rod-shaped (0.27~0.58×1.18㎛)organisms tightly packed within cytoplasmic vacuoles or scattered throughout the cytoplasms. Moreover, the smallest, mineralized, cell walled nanobacterias (146~600×261~625nm)were found in various tissues of the moribund hard clams. In nanobacteria-infected tissues cytoplasmic vacuolization and numerous crystalline deposits were found.

The quality difference of milled rice stored at a low temperature and optimum humidity(LTH) and a high temperature and humidity (HTH) was determined by the methods of acidity of fat, brown color index, reducing sugar and microflora. Moisture contents of milled rice stored at LTH and HTH for 10 weeks were 14.7% and 19.5%, respectively. Moisture content after 8 weeks of LTH and 4 weeks of HTH exceeded 13% on dry basis, growth-limiting moisture of mold. Brown color index and reducing sugar contents of milled rice stored at HTH were slightly higher than those of LTH. There was a notable difference in acidity of fat between milled and brown rice stored at HTH. The apperance(p<0.05) and texture(p<0.01) of cooked rice after storage for 10 weeks at LTH and HTH were significantly different in sensory evaluation with no significant difference in odor and taste. Mean values of breaking test in rheometer were better in LTH than in HTH for taste score. Growth of mold and bacteria in rice were not increased by storage. Rice weevil exhibited imago in brown rice and milled rice after storage of 5 weeks and HTH. Milled rice stored at LTH for 2 weeks did not absorb Kimchi odor from refrigerated chamber.

The thermal decomposition process of Mo(CO)_6 on chemical vapor deposition was investigated by analyzing the effects of deposition temperature, pressure, and reaction gas on the phase change of deposited films. Mo_2C was deposited at or below 350℃ due to the incompleteness of thermal decomposition of Mo(CO)_6, but Mo films was successfully deposited at 400℃ or higher temperatures. The variation of deposition pressure did not change the dependence of decomposition process on deposition temperature. The activation energy of surface reaction was 5.8 ㎉/mole.

To scrutinize the biological effects of plankton communities to bacterial community, the total bacterial numbers, chlorophyll a concentration and phytoplankton, zooplankton communities were analyzed in Lake Soyang from May 13, to July 14, 1994. At 0m depth, total bacterial numbers positively coi-related with chlorophyll o concentration. On the other hand, at 2m depth, the two parameters had negative correlation. At the middle of the June, whe dominants of phytoplankton, zooplankton were changing, the bacterial numbers dropped down. These results suggest that as the Anabaena becoming dominant species, the some zooplankton species changed to bacterivore. The bacterial community was mainly effected by phytoplankton at 0m, and by zooplankton at 2m depth.
